University junior Christyn Schumann won her second consecutive
NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor High Jump Championship Friday.
Schumann won the national event - without a miss – jumping 5 feet,
9 1/4 inches (1.76 meters) at Wartburg College. She won the 2004
title at Decatur, Ill., also with a mark of 5-9 1/4, and became
Trinity’s first Division III track and field national champion.

Trinity was eliminated
Saturday from the NCAA Division III West Region tournament at the
University of Redlands.
First, Trinity ousted No. 2 Redlands 8-4, but then fell 3-0 to
third-seeded Louisiana College in the double-elimination tournament.
The Tigers, who had never won a postseason game in three previous NCAA
appearances, went 2-2 at the regional event. Trinity completed its
season with a 28-22 mark.

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -
Both Oglethorpe and DePauw slipped in the team standings as play
was suspended on Day Three of the 2005 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.
After beginning the morning in fourth place, Oglethorpe shot a
third-round 311 and stands in eighth with a team score of 919 (+55).
When play was suspended, DePauw was in a tie for 14th place and had a
team score of +30 for the third round. The Tigers will finish their
round first thing Thursday before playing the fourth and final round. Guilford
continues to lead with a three-day total of 884 (+20).

Trinity freshmen duo receive national recognition

First-year Trinity women's tennis players Alicia Hunt and Laura
Steinmetz both received recognition from the ITA recently. Hunt

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.
-- The NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Subcommittee has selected
the 27 teams that will participate in the NCAA Division III Men's
Tennis Championships.
The teams will play a single-elimination tournament with the first
and second rounds played at non-predetermined regional sites. The
quarterfinal, semifinal and final rounds will be played at the
University of California, Santa Cruz. Finals competition will also
be held at UC Santa Cruz, May 18-23.

Trinity University shut out Centre
College 2-0 and 5-0 to capture its fifth SCAC Championship in
seven years. The pitching combination of Erin Mulvey and Melissa
Johnson limited the Colonels (19-14) to only five hits and the duo
struck out 20 batters in 14 innings of work. The Tigers (28-16)
scored on two of the four hits in the first game and pounded out
nine hits in the championship game.
