ATLANTA, Ga. - Amy Owensby tossed a complete-game shutout to lead Sewanee-University of the South to a 1-0 victory over the West No. 1 seed Trinity University Friday afternoon in the fourth game of the 2004 SCAC Softball Championship at Panthersville,

In the nightcap of Day One of the tournament, Sewanee scored an unearned run in the top of the fifth to defeat Trinity. Sewanee defeated Trinity twice in the 2003 tournament on its way to a second place finish to Millsaps.

Owensby, the 2003 SCAC pitcher of the year, has won five of her last six games and is 14-17 on the season.

The Tigers (17-19) advance to play Rose-Hulman (21-16) in a winner's bracket contest Saturday at 2 p.m. with the victor earning a spot in Sunday's championship game.

The Sewanee – Rose-Hulman matchup will be the fifth meeting of the season, with the Fightin’ Engineers holding a 3-1 lead.
