Game 8 - Saturday, April 24 - 4 p.m.

Box Score

ATLANTA, Ga. - Millsaps College scored three runs in the first inning and made the margin stand to defeat Trinity University 4-1, in an elimination game Saturday afternoon at the 2004 SCAC Softball Championship.

Millsaps (22-19) next plays Rose-Hulman with a trip to the Sunday's championship game on the line. The Majors are the defending SCAC softball champions.

A walk to Crystal Bender and singles by Robin Rockco, Josei Manley, Kati Fleming plated three runs off Trinity starter Jillian Degerness in the first frame and that would be all the support Tammy Ladner would need.

Ladner (14-9) allowed just six hits and one run to advance the Majors to a match-up with Rose-Hulman with a trip to the championship game on the line.

Trinity actually out-hit Rose-Hulman 6-5 in the contest, but could not string enough hits to dent the scoreboard. The Tigers end their season with a mark of 21-16.

Degerness (12-7) allowed all four runs, but did strike out five Millsaps' hitters.
