2004 SCAC Softball Championship
Game 9 - Saturday, April 24 - 6 p.m.

Box Score

ATLANTA, Ga. - Playing its second consecutive game, Millsaps College produced another 4-1 victory, this time over the top-seed from the East, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, to advance to Sunday's championship round of the 2004 SCAC Softball Championship.

For the second consecutive season, the SCAC title game will be a match-up of Millsaps against Sewanee - but this time it was the Majors that had to come through the loser's bracket to advance.

Millsaps College (24-19) - just as it did a game before against Trinity - jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning, and the combination of Tammy Ladner and Kati Fleming made the lead stand. Ladner (15-9), who allowed three hits, one run and struck out three, earned the win, and Fleming picked up the save with three scoreless innings of work.

Crystal Bender went 3-for-3 and Robin Rockco and Renee Green both had RBI hits.

Lynsey Hart had two hits in three trips for the Engineers and also scored the team's only run.

Jennifer Shafer allowed three runs in just 0.2 innings and was credited with the loss for Rose-Hulman (21-18). Lauren Clark pitched a strong 5.1 innings in relief - allowing just four hits and a run. She also had the only RBI of the game for Rose-Hulman.
