helped the ’Roos win their series with Centre 2-1 with his stellar
performance at the plate, hitting .462 (6-for-13) with a home run,
a double, six RBI, and four runs scored. Ray was also 1-for-1 on
stolen base attempts, and in the decisive game three victory for
the ’Roos he launched a three run homer in the bottom of the sixth
to put the game away for Austin College. Senior
outfielder Jason Hadley of Millsaps
stretched his
hitting streak out to eight games, recorded his team-leading 19th
multi-hit game of the season and bumped his team-leading average
up to .395 in a 3-0 week for the 22nd-ranked Majors. Hadley batted
a sturdy .615 (8-for-13) on the week with 12 total bases, four
doubles, two RBIs and two stolen bases while posting a .923
slugging percentage. In a 3-for-4 performance in a 12-1 win over
Oglethorpe, Hadley became Millsaps’ all-time career hits leader
with 230. He stands one double shy of the single-season record of
19 doubles (tied by Hunter Owen last week), held by Kirk Kinard.
Sophomore shortstop J.R. Bizzell of
Rhodes went 7-for-11 (.636) on the weekend to help the Lynx
get past Trinity in a best 2 out of 3 series to move into the
final round of the SCAC Tournament. Bizzell scored four runs, had
two RBI, two triples, a walk and a stolen base. He was a spark
plug all weekend, getting on base eight out of the 12 times he
came to the plate. Bizzell also led the defense by making
incredible play after play and holding down a tough Trinity line
up en route to the series win. On the season, despite missing a
half dozen games, Bizzell is in the top of the league in many
categories. He is 13th in the SCAC in hitting (.377), 12th in

for Rhodes baseball occurred this weekend in Sunday's third and deciding game
against the Tigers. Catalanotto strolled to the mound and pitched a complete
game, working the entire 9.0 innings while surrendering only four hits, two
earned runs with three walks and three strikeouts. He kept the Trinity hitters

allowing two runs, only one of which was earned, on nine hits as the ’Roos
clinched a spot in the SCAC Championships. Rushing didn’t allow a walk while
striking out four batters, as he lowered his team-best ERA to 3.73 and tied the
school record with his sixth victory.
First-year right-hander Bobby Osburn of
Millsaps, although he tossed only 1 2/3 innings on the week, recorded
pivotal outs that proved to be the difference in the game, picking up his
team-leading third save as well as his second win of the year. After the Majors
surrendered three runs in the top of the ninth that cut their lead to 10-9
against Belhaven, Osburn came in with two outs and two runners on to strike out
the Blazers’ designated hitter to conserve the win. In Game 2 of the SCAC
Divisional against Oglethorpe, Osburn tossed the final 1 1/3 innings in a
one-run ballgame, scattering two hits, two strikeouts and no runs to pick up the
