| MILLINGTON, Tenn. -
Jason Hadley had three hits to become the school's all-time hit leader and
Hunter Abrams drove in three runs to lift #22 Millsaps College to a 12-1 victory
over Oglethorpe University in the opening game of their SCAC best-of-three
divisional playoff series Friday night at USA Stadium.
The Majors improved to 32-9 overall, while the
Stormy Petrels saw their season record slip to 10-31. The two teams square
off in the game two on Saturday at 8 p.m. CDT. Links to tournament live

Hadley, who had two doubles and a single in four trips, now has 230 hits for
his career - two more than Stuart Phillips totaled from 2001-2004.
Millsaps scored in every inning except the second, and probably ran
themselves out of runs that inning with a caught stealing at third and an
over-slide of second base that turned a stolen base into the third out of
the inning.
Junior lefthander Travis Bogue improved to 7-1 and went the distance for the
Majors. He allowed just four hits and one run while striking out eight with
two walks.
The Petrels managed just a solo home run by senior catcher Robert Pavelka -
a monster shot that cleared the huge scoreboard in left centerfield.
The Majors, meanwhile, had no trouble generating offense off of OU starter
John Hale. Every Millsaps starter produced a hit except for Derrik Boland,
but he reached base three times via two walks and an error.
Abrams, Justin Carter and Hunter Owen followed Hadley in the hit column with
two safeties each as the Majors managed nine extra base hits.
Hale (3-6) got little help from his defense as the Petrels committed six
errors, including three on one play. Of the eight runs that Hale allowed,
just four were earned. The first-year right-hander allowed nine hits and
struck out four while walking five.
