MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Senior left-hander Robert Flanagan tossed his first complete game of the season, scattering six strikeouts and four hits, and junior Mason Mosby went 4-for-4 at the plate with a game-high five RBIs as Rhodes hammered Millsaps 14-2 in seven innings to take a 1-0 lead in a best-of-three series at Millington’s USA Stadium on Friday.

After a day filled with off and on rain that never allowed the grounds crew to remove the tarp, the first game of the 2008 SCAC Divisional Tournament finally got underway at at 5:15 p.m., more than six hours after the scheduled first pitch of 11 a.m.

The delay did not dampen the Rhodes' bats as the Lynx scored three times in the bottom of the first, using a bases-loaded single from Brent Lindsey, a bases-loaded walk issued to Mosby, and a bases-loaded single by Kyle Peterson.

Every Lynx starter recorded a hit as Rhodes (27-11) totaled 17 hits and scored runs in every inning except the second inning - including a six-run fifth inning that put the game out of reach.

Lindsey finished 3-for-5 with two runs and four RBI and Peterson, Richard Hurd and Daniel Vanaman all had two hits. Hurd scored four times.

Senior left-hander Robert Flanagan went the distance for the Lynx and allowed just four hits and two earned runs. He struck out six and walked no one in improving to 5-2 on the season. The win was the 30th of his career, making him just the second player in SCAC history to reach 30 career wins.

Millsaps had just four hits, but two of them were home runs. Tony Malasch had two of the Majors' four safeties, including a solo shot in the seventh. Hunter Owen got Millsaps on the board with a lead-off home run that cleared the scoreboard in left centerfield.

The two teams play again on Saturday at 11 a.m., back at Millington USA Field with Millsaps needing a win to force a third and deciding game on Sunday.
