MILLINGTON, Tenn. - After waiting a day to begin its best-of-three series, Centre College jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Colonels could not hold on as Southwestern answered with two in its half of the fourth, one in the sixth and three more in the seventh to take a 6-4 come-from-behind victory Saturday afternoon on the campus of Rhodes College.

Wes Willis (9-1) went the distance for the Pirates, scattering 13 hits while striking out four and walking three. One of the four runs that Willis allowed was unearned.

Cory Crowdis had an RBI single in the first and a sacrifice fly in the third and, Steven Kull ripped a run-scoring triple in the second and Steven Proctor knocked in a run in the fourth with a single to give Centre its 4-0 lead.

But back-to-back run-scoring doubles by the Pirates' Mark Noogle and Eric Gonzales cut the Colonels' lead in half in the bottom of the fourth.

After a RBI double by Southwestern's Richard Falcone in the sixth, the Pirates exploded for three runs in the seventh.

Consecutive bases-loaded walks issued to Matt Clark and Todd Boone allowed two of the runs to score and Falcone picked up his second RBI of the game with a single to plate Noggle.

After allowing nine hits in the first four innings, Southwestern's Willis allowed just four the rest of the way to blank the Colonels the final five frames.

Jake Jones (4-3) absorbed the loss, allowing 10 hits and six runs in 6.1 innings. He walked six and struck out one. Jeffrey Williams finished with three hits in five trips for the Colonels.

For Southwestern, Falcone was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
