Centre's Britt; Mason highlight 2007-08 All-SCAC Men's Basketball honors
CONWAY, Ark. - Centre College put together the first unbeaten conference season in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) history and the coaches rewarded the team’s history-making effort as senior guard Thomas Britt was selected the league’s Player-of-the-Year and head coach Greg Mason was named the SCAC Coach-of-the-Year. Colonels receive first-place vote

Centre College (21-1) broke the SCAC consecutive game win streak with a 69-66 victory over DePauw University Saturday in Greencastle. That victory, the Colonels' 21st straight, helped Coach Greg Mason's team move up one place to second in the this week's D3hoops.com national Top 25. It is the highest ranking a SCAC men's team has ever achieved in the D3hoops.com Top 25, which began ranking Division III teams in 1999. Millsaps College (21-3), fresh off a SCAC sweep of Southwestern and Trinity, enters the Top 25 this week at No. 24. , Ala. - Senior center Ahmad Kareem Shaheed of Oglethorpe University eclipsed a huge career milestone by becoming the 71st player in SCAC history to score over 1,000 points in Friday's 87-80 loss to Birmingham-Southern. For the game, Shaheed posted a team-high 19 points and 12 rebounds. He currently stands seventh all-time in the SCAC in the career rebounding category with 672. Colonels equal SCAC record for most consecutive wins with 20

Centre College (20-1) ran its winning streak to 20 straight - picking up SCAC wins over Birmingham-Southern College and Rhodes College - and improved two places from fifth to third in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll. The 20 straight wins equals a SCAC record and the Colonels can break that mark with a victory over DePauw University on Friday in Greencastle. Centre has also equaled the highest ranking by a SCAC men's basketball team since Trinity finished the 2004-05 season ranked third in the nation. , Va. - Millsaps College senior forward Edrick Montgomery was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for his performance in games played Jan. 21-27. Montgomery averaged 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks and shot 65 percent from the floor (22-of-34) and 80 percent from the charity stripe (12-of-15) in two tough road losses. DANVILLE, Ky. - D3hoops.com has announced it will broadcast the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) men's basketball game between No. 14 Centre College (14-1, 6-0 SCAC) and No. 18 Millsaps College (15-1, 7-0 SCAC) Friday, Jan. 25 in Alumni Gymnasium in Danville, Ky. The game will feature the final two unbeaten teams in conference play and is set to start at 8 p.m. ET.

SCAC Men's Basketball race too close to call in 2007-08
SUWANEE, Ga. - The race for the 2007-08 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball title is predicted to be a three horse race, with two candidates slightly favored over the third. In exclusive voting by the sports information directors of the conference, Centre College, DePauw University and Millsaps College each received first-place votes, but it was Centre and DePauw that finished with the highest overall total as each garnered 110 points in the process to tie atop the preseason poll.
