MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Trinity University shot a red-hot 74.1% in the second half and refused to allow DePauw University back in the game in Sunday's 84-70 victory in the championship game of the 2005 SCAC Women's Basketball Tournament.

Trinity improves to 23-4 and will receive the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. DePauw (23-5) must wait until the brackets are announced tonight to see if they will receive one of seven at-large Pool C bids.

Tournament MVP Tara Rohde (pictured left) was one of several Tigers that just could not miss on Sunday as the senior post poured in a game-high 28 points on 13-of-17 shooting and also added eight rebounds. Joining Rohde on the all-tournament team were teammates Amy Howe and Jenna Smith. Howe finished the game with 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including a perfect 4-of-4 from three-point range. Smith had 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Trinity's Lauren Andrews set a new SCAC single-game tournament record by recording 10 assists and she also established a single-tournament record with 21 assists in the Tigers three games this weekend.

Trinity did not shoot as well in the first half, but out-rebounded DePauw 27-14, including a 13-2 advantage on the offensive boards, to secure a 34-23 halftime lead.

DePauw scored the first basket of the second half to cut Trinity's lead to 34-25, but a layup by Rohde on the Tigers' next possession extended the lead to double digits where it would stay for the remainder of the game.

DePauw was led by SCAC Player-of-the-Year Amy Argetsinger, who finished with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Fellow senior Sarah Zondor had 18 points and sank four three-point field goals to keep the Tigers close.

Both Argetsinger and Zondor were named to the All-Tournament team.
