MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Trinity University got 20 points, nine rebounds and an SCAC single-game tournament record seven blocks from Sean Devins as the Tigers disposed of Centre College 80-61 in the first men's semifinal game of the 2005 SCAC Men's Basketball Tournament Saturday at Rhodes College.

Devins hit on 6-of-12 shots from the floor and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line to send the Tigers to their third-consecutive SCAC Men's title game.

Peter Murray followed Devins with 19 points and eight rebounds and made 7 of his nine shot attempts from the field. Trinity shot 50.0% for the game and held Centre to just 39.4%. The Tigers took advantage of 26 foul shot opportunities - sinking 22 of them (84.6%). Centre went to the line just five times and made four.

Trinity (21-6) opened up a double-digit lead on a three-pointer by Devins with 8:32 remaining in the half - just the eighth three-point field goal for the 6-10 senior this season. The Tigers led 40-33 at the break.

Trinity doubled that lead to 14 on a lay-up by Peter Murray assisted by Chad Stroberg with 17:01 remaining in the game. However, Centre fought back and a three-pointer by Kyle Roby brought the deficit back to seven at 54-47 with 10:45 left to play, and the Colonels trailed by just eight (67-59) with 5:21 remaining.

But from there, Trinity went on a 13-2 run to end the game.

Centre's Reggie Magnusson finished with a game-high 23 points and also pulled down six rebounds. Coy Zerhusen finished just short of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. The Colonels end their season with a 20-7 record - the first 20-win season for a Centre team since the formation of the SCAC.
