MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Trinity University ended the magical run of Sewanee-University of the South, taking a 72-53 victory in the championship game of the 2005 SCAC Men's Basketball Tournament.

Tournament MVP Sean Devins (pictured left) came close to a triple-double on Sunday, scoring nine points, grabbing 10 rebounds and blocking seven shots, which tied his SCAC single-game tournament record set just a night ago.

Jason Morris led the way for the Tigers, scoring a game-high 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and the senior also dished out four assists. Morris joined Devins on the all-tournament team, as did teammate Peter Murray (nine points, five rebounds).

Sewanee gave the second-seed all it wanted for the game's first 20 minutes, closing the half on a 9-4 run to cut Trinity's margin to 30-26 at the break.

The score remained close at 45-37 with 14:31 remaining when Trinty went on a 21-0 run over the next 10 minutes to take a 66-37 lead with 4:36 remaining, and the sixth-seeded Tigers never threatened again.

Once again, Joey Garcia came off the bench to lead Sewanee and was the only Tigers in double-figures with 12 points and he also grabbed seven boards. Garcia was named to the All-Tournament team after posting games of 22 and 20 points in the quarterfinal and semifinal round.

Eugene Talley had eight points and seven boards for Sewanee and Jason Smith finished with six points and seven rebounds. The Tigers from Tennessee end their season with a 12-15 mark.

Andy Bates, Chad Stroberg and Ross Burt all finished with 10 points for Trinity and Jay Riola came off the bench to grab seven rebounds.

Trinity (22-6) advances to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year and will find out its first opponent when the tournament brackets are announced tonight.
