MEMPHIS, Tenn. - In the first double-overtime contest in SCAC Tournament history, Centre College outlasted Millsaps College, 86-80, in men's quarterfinal action at Rhodes College.

Millsaps had defeated Centre in the only game between the two this season and the sixth-seeded Majors gave the third-seeded Colonels another fight on Friday.

Sophomore post Edrick Montgomery led Millsaps with a single-game, tournament record-tying performance of 34 points on 15 of 22 shooting, but even that wasn't enough to get the Majors beyond the first round.

Millsaps led 35-31 at the half.

Sophomore guard Matt Nestheide was high-point man for Centre with 29 and sank 13 of 15 from the foul line. Senior center Reggie Magnusson and senior forward Coy Zerhusen both had double-double performances - posting 14 points and 10 rebounds and 10 points and 13 boards respectively. Zerhusen is now just 11 rebounds behind Russ Churchwell of Oglethorpe's all-time SCAC mark of 849 career boards.

Centre out-rebounded Millsaps 46-37 and hit 29 of 38 attempts from the line as opposed to 16 of 21 for the Majors.

In addition to Montgomery's record-setting performance, senior guard Tyler Warren ended his career with a 28-point, six-assist effort. The duo of Montgomery and Warren scored 62 of the Majors' 80 points. Millsaps ends its season with a mark of 14-12.

The Colonels improve to 18-7 and will meet Southwestern in tomorrow's first men's semifinal game at Rhodes. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
