MEMPHIS, Tenn. -
Bridget Bailey and Liz Bondi each
scored 18 and Lindsay Houin followed with 14 and matched a career high
with 12 rebounds as DePauw claimed an 89-73 victory in the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinal.
With the win, the Tigers advanced to Sunday's 2:30 p.m. CST title game
against Trinity. Trinity defeated Oglethorpe 73-65 in the other
semifinal. The two teams will meet with the SCAC title at stake for the
fourth straight year.
DePauw improved to 26-1 overall and extended its winning streak to 25.
The 26 victories ties the DePauw single-season record. Rhodes finished
the season at 18-8.
The Tigers led by as many as 18 in the
first half on the way to a 42-25 halftime advantage. DePauw still held a
15-point lead before the Lynx went on a 10-2 run to close to within seven
at 53-46 and again at 55-48. The Tigers, however, pushed the margin back
to 15 at 69-54 with just over seven minutes to play.
Rhodes closed to within nine at 75-66, but the Tigers scored the next four
and the margin never slipped below single digits.
Gretchen Haehl added 16 points, while Cassie Pruzin followed with 10.
Ashley Farrell led Rhodes with 23 points with Taylor Cook adding 16,
Crystal Jessee 12 and Kristen Lytle 11.
The Tigers outrebounded the Lynx 46-24 and grabbed 19 offensive rebounds.
Suzy Doughty
matched a career high with nine assists.
