MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Top-seeded DePauw University held off a fiesty Oglethorpe University squad and won its second consecutive SCAC title with a 73-60 victory on championship Sunday at Rhodes College.

Tournament MVP Liz Bondi turned in a 16-point, 10-rebound performance as the Tigers, who trailed 50-48 with 8:35 remaining, outscored the Petrels 18-6 over the next four minutes to run away with the championship.

It was the fifth straight year that the No. 1 and 2 seeds have met in the tournament final, but it was Oglethorpe's first-ever title appearance, snapping a four-year run of DePauw/Trinity title games.

Oglethorpe led 30-29 at the half in a game that was tied on 10 different occasions.

Katie Kulavic had 16 points to lead the Petrels and Anna Findley followed with 12. Both were named to the All-Tournament Team, along with Emily Marshall of DePauw and Ashley Farrell of Rhodes.

Findley set a new SCAC tournament record with 79 points and averaged 26.3 points per gamel over the weekend. She also sank 17 three-point field goals, another tournament record.

Brittany Corbett (11 points) and Caitlin Brightwell (10 points) also scored in double-figures for Oglethorpe. Brightwell added seven rebounds and Jasmine Johnson had a team-high eight boards.

Marshall fell just short of posting a double-double for DePauw, scoring nine points and adding nine rebounds. Suzy Doughty, the SCAC's all-time leader in assists, finished with eight points, five assists and five steals.

DePauw (25-3), as the SCAC's automatic qualifier, advances to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year and eighth time in 12 years. Oglethorpe (21-7) must await word of an at-large berth when the brackets are announced later tonight.
