MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The 22nd-ranked
and top-seeded DePauw University Tigers improved to 22-4 and advanced to
the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinals following an
84-72 win over Sewanee in the day's third quarterfinal game.
DePauw plays the winner of Trinity and Oglethorpe tomorrow night at 7
p.m. in the second men's semifinal game. The game will be played at
Rhodes College.
Austin Brown had 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting and missed just one
3-point attempt on five tries. Stephen Schott had 12 points and Matt
McDonald had 10 points and eight rebounds. Ryan Werntz came off the
bench to score 12 points, all via the three-point shot, giving the
Tigers four players in double-figures. Mike Moore also added eight
points and a game-high eight assists.
In his final game for Sewanee, Spencer Rowland led the Tigers with a
game-high 25 points and also grabbed seven rebounds. Joey Garcia,
another Sewanee senior, and Ben Pursell had 13 points each.
DePauw out-scored Sewanee 25-7 off the bench as the DU Tigers built
up a 42-26 halftime lead.
