COLORADO COLLEGE BECOMES 11TH MEMBER OF THE SCAC

SUWANEE, Ga. – Colorado College has accepted membership into the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), becoming the 11th member of the NCAA Division III league, comprised of some of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges and universities in the nation.

The membership will be effective for the 2006-07 academic year for the sports of cross country, swimming and diving, tennis and outdoor track and field. Additionally, Colorado College will begin future participation in basketball, football, men's soccer, softball and volleyball.

A private, four-year liberal arts college, Colorado College is located on a 90-acre campus in downtown Colorado Springs near the base of the 14,110-foot Pikes Peak and about an hour from Denver. The College is consistently ranked in the top tier in U.S. News & World Report for its academic excellence.

With limited participation in 2006-07, Colorado College joins Austin College as the newest members of the SCAC.

Austin, currently a member of the American Southwest Conference, with begin participation in the fall of 2006. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will conclude conference participation following the 2005-06 season.

Colorado College, whose mascot is the Tiger, also has Division III varsity men's and women's lacrosse teams as well as women's water polo and plays Division I men's ice hockey and women's soccer.
