Offensive Player-of-the-Week

TERESA JOHNSTONE OF
CENTRE
COLLEGE, a junior forward from
Louisville, Ky., has been selected the SCAC Field Hockey Offensive
Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday, October 22 through
Sunday, October 28.
Johnstone
scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 shutout over DePauw on Saturday, to break
a two-game losing skid for Centre and secure a No. 2 seed in the upcoming SCAC Championships.
Johnstone's goal came early in the second half on a penalty
corner assist from Rachel Watkins. The goal was her ninth of the year and her
third game-winner.
Johnstone finished the regular season ranked second in the
SCAC in points (24), goals (9), and assists (6).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder/forward Beth Seegers of
DePauw scored the game-winning goal on Sunday and added an insurance
goal in the second half as the Tigers defeated Sewanee 3-1. Showing great
tenacity in the circle while scoring her fifth and six goals for the season,
Seegers helped the offense gain 17 shots and 14 corners on the weekend.
Junior forward Lynn Hancock of Sewanee
scored two goals against Transylvania in the Tigers' 3-1 victory - her second
two-goal game of the season. Hancock now has eight goals on the season. She has
been a real strength for the Sewanee forward line this year and has added
significantly to the increased number of goals the team has scored this year
compared to last season. First-year forward Lindsey Gurkovich of Rhodes
scored the game-winning goal in the Lynx 8-0
victory over Hendrix and had several strong shots in the 2-0 loss to Lindenwood.
The goal was Gurkovich's ninth of the season and her second game-winner. She is
currently second in the conference in goals and third in the conference in
points.
Hendrix did not nominate anyone for the award.

Player-of-the-Week
(For

ANN GUAGLIARDO
OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a senior goalkeeper from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the SCAC
Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday,
October 22 through Sunday, October 28.
Guagliardo
posted her SCAC-leading fifth shutout of the season in
a 1-0 win at DePauw on Saturday.
Guagliardo turned away both shots on goal she faced including
a tremendous lunging save in the waning seconds to give Centre its
12th win of the season and secure a No. 2 seed in the upcoming SCAC
Championships at Sewanee.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore defender Becca Rojek of DePauw led the defense this
weekend with outstanding play in the backfield. Rojek picked up two
defensive saves during the Tigers' 1-0 loss to Centre on Saturday,
and her strong tackling led the Tigers to a 3-1 victory against
Sewanee on Sunday. Starting every game this season, Rojek leads the
conference in defensive saves and continues to be a strong force on
the defensive corner unit. First-year defender Rachel Webb of
Rhodes had two outstanding
performances on the defensive end of the field this weekend for the
Lynx. She played the entirety of both games and successfully marked
the best attacker on both Lindenwood’s and Hendrix’s squads. Webb
also contributed an assist in the Hendrix game - her second assist
of the season.
Junior midfielder Claiborne Buckingham of Sewanee
has been the Tigers' top defender this season and a key on penalty
corner defense. Buckingham, who most often is responsible for
marking opponents' most dangerous attacker, was outstanding in both
games this weekend for Sewanee. Hendrix
did not nominate anyone for the award.
WEEK 8

Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For
matches played Monday, Oct. 15th - Sunday, Oct. 21st)
ERIN ATMAR OF RHODES
COLLEGE, a
first-year forward from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Field Hockey
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday, October 15 through
Sunday, October 21.
Atmar
scored her second
game-winning goal in conference play and her fourth game-winning goal of the
year in Rhodes' 6-0 blanking of Hendrix on Saturday.
Atmar, who also tallied two assists on the day, has nine goals (tied for
tops in the SCAC) and four assists for a team-high 22 points (tied for tops in
the SCAC) this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
DePauw and
Hendrix did not nominate anyone for the award, and Centre and
Sewanee did not play.

O'BRIEN WOLFF
OF RHODES COLLEGE,
a senior defender from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the
SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played
Monday, October 15 through Sunday, October 21.
Wolff
paced the Lynx
this weekend in their 6-0 win over Hendrix at home on Senior Day.
She controlled defensive play which held Hendrix to one penalty
corner and two shots on goal despite several Warrior fast breaks and
opportunities.
On the offensive end of the field, Wolff tallied her fourth
and fifth goals of the season - one on a penalty stroke and the
other on a penalty corner play.
Wolff is now fifth on the team in scoring with 12 points.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore defender Alex Gribbin
of DePauw had an outstanding week for the Tigers. Gribbin showed
great patience when tackling in the backfield and strong defensive
skill with two defensive saves against Bellarmine University. She
also played a solid game against Washington & Lee.
Hendrix did not nominate anyone for the award, and Centre and
Sewanee did not play.

MARCY TICKNER OF
SEWANEE-UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a senior
forward from Rockville, Md., has been selected the SCAC Field
Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday, October 8
through Sunday, October 14.
Tickner
made senior day one to remember, scoring the game-tying and then game-winning
goals in Friday’s 3-2 upset win over first-place Centre College.
Tickner’s final goal gave her 20 for her career and made her one of just
four players in SCAC history to total 20+ career goals.
For the season, Tickner has seven goals and four assists for 18 points
(tied for fourth in the SCAC).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year forward Sarah Riffle of DePauw
scored three goals on the week, including the go-ahead goal to give the
Tigers a 3-2 lead at the half in an eventual 4-3 loss in strokes at Rhodes on
Friday. She added two goals in an 8-0 win at Hendrix on Sunday. First-year
center midfielder Charlie Wagner of Rhodes
scored the game-tying goal with 17 minutes to play in Lynx' 4-3 penalty stroke
victory over DePauw. She also sealed the win for the Lynx by making her penalty
stroke which was the fourth make for the team out of five players. Wagner
controled the offensive play for the Lynx and was also an integral piece on
corner offense. Wagner's goal was her fourth of the season, and she is third on
the team in points with 11. Junior forward Teresa Johnstone of Centre
posted three shots and an assist in Centre’s
3-2 loss at Sewanee this week. Johnstone leads the Colonels in goals (8) and is
second in assists (6) on the season.
Hendrix did not nominate anyone for the award.

CLARKIE
CRAWFORD OF SEWANEE-UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH,
a junior goalkeeper from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the
SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played
Monday, October 8 through Sunday, October 14.
Crawford
had an another outstanding game as she backstopped the Tigers to a
3-2 upset over first-place Centre on Friday.
Crawford faced 15 shots and had 12 saves. She played a
perfect second half, coming up with eight of her 12 saves in the
period while allowing no goals in order to secure the one goal win
for the Tigers.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year defender Rachel Webb of Rhodes
had an outstanding defensive effort
for the Lynx on Friday. After three first half goals by DePauw, Webb
moved from the midfield into the defense to help the Lynx control
the Tigers' speedy attack. With Webb's assistance the Lynx were able
to hold DePauw to just eight shots and without a goal in the second
half and both overtime periods. Webb played almost all of both
overtime periods and was integral to the Lynx' success in
seven-a-side play. Senior defender Ashley Distler of Centre
stopped a number of Sewanee attacking opportunities this past week.
She did a good job directing from the backfield but Centre was
unable to keep the Tigers at bay in the 3-2 loss. DePauw and
Hendrix
did not nominate anyone for the award.

KATIE SLIMP OF RHODES
COLLEGE, a senior
forward from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Field
Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday, October 1
through Sunday, October 7.
Slimp
scored two goals for the Lynx, including the
game-winner in overtime, in Saturday’s 4-3 victory over Sewanee. The two goals
were her fourth and fifth of the season and the senior is second on the team in
both goals and points.
The second goal against Sewanee was Slimp's second game-winner this
season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore forward/midfielder Mary Kate Clodius of Centre scored a
hat-trick in the second half of a 6-0 win over Hendrix College and played a
solid game in the Colonel's first conference loss in double-overtime against
Rhodes. Clodius came off the bench for the Colonels in both contests this
weekend and has been a valuable contributor the entire season. She is currently
tied for fourth in the SCAC in scoring. Senior forward Marcy Tickner of
Sewanee scored her fifth goal of the season as the Tigers shutout Hendrix
3-0 in Sunday's game. Tickner also scored in the second half of the Rhodes game
to bring the the Tigers back from a 2-0 deficit which eventually led to a 3-3
tie and overtime. Tickner's tenacity on attack has been amazing all season, as
she has played every minute of the last four games, three of which ended in
overtime. Tickner also has three assists on the season.
First-year forward Katie Sowar of DePauw
scored two goals in the Tigers' two wins over the weekend. Sowar scored
her first goal of the season to tie the game for the Tigers in an eventual 3-2
double overtime victory against Wooster, and she scored her second goal of the
season against Transylvania on Sunday, Sowar improved her shooting percentage
to .500 on the weekend. Playing several positions on the forward line this
weekend, Sowar was part of an offensive unit that generated eight goals, 46
shots and 37 penalty corners for the weekend.
Hendrix did not nominate anyone for the award.

O'BRIEN WOLFF
OF RHODES COLLEGE,
a senior defender from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the
SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played
Monday, October 1 through Sunday, October 7.
Wolff
controlled the pace for the Lynx this weekend in two
overtime victories. She was instrumental on both ends of the field
for Rhodes in the team's 4-3 overtime victory over Sewanee and 1-0
double-overtime upset of Centre.
Wolff contributed a goal in the Sewanee game to put the Lynx
up with 1:14 to play and anchored the defense that held Centre
scoreless for the first time this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior goalkeeper Clarkie
Crawford of Sewanee had an outstanding weekend again as
she faced 20 shots and recorded 14 saves in Saturday's 4-3 overtime
loss against tough SCAC opponent Rhodes College. Crawford's
outstanding play once again took the Tigers into overtime for the
third game in a row. She had a perfect game on Sunday, recording
four saves and earning the shutout in a 3-0 win against conference
opponent Hendrix College. Sophomore defender Becca Rojek of DePauw was
a key contributor for the Tiger defense that gave up only 15 shots
and eight penalty corners over 160 minutes of play this weekend.
Showing great skill in tackling and ball distribution, Rojek played
every minute this weekend, and has in all of the Tigers' games thus
far this year. Junior back Emily Boyle of Centre
played two solid games against Hendrix College and Rhodes College in
SCAC play this past weekend. Boyle helped limit both opponents to
nine combined shots on the weekend and was pivotal in jump-starting
the Centre attack out of the backfield. Hendrix
did not nominate anyone for the award.

SALLY FAULKNER OF
CENTRE COLLEGE, a
sophomore midfielder from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the SCAC Field
Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday, September 24
through Sunday, September 30.
Faulkner
continued her outstanding play against
Transylvania and Sewanee this past week with game-winning points in each match.
Against Transylvania, Faulkner scored her fourth goal of the season late
in the first-half for the game-winning goal in a 4-0 Colonels' win. And against
Sewanee, she played a strong game in attack and defense through regulation and
made her impact felt even more in overtime with a beautiful game-winning
back-door assist six minutes into the first overtime period to keep Centre
undefeated on the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Carolyn Mueller of DePauw
scored the Tigers' first goal to force overtime in a 2-1 win over Rhodes. She
had 11 of her team's 23 shots for the weekend and helped the offense obtain a
32-8 penalty corner advantage. Mueller played all 153 minutes this weekend at
several positions in the attack to help the Tigers stay undefeated at home.
Junior midfielder Claiborne Buckingham of Sewanee was huge in the Tigers'
overtime win against Wittenberg as her deflected shot with less than four
minutes remaining in the contest put the game into overtime. After a scoreless
30 minutes of overtime, Buckingham was the only player for either team to score
in both rounds of the penalty stroke competition and helped in securing the win
for Sewanee - the program's first-ever over Wittenberg.
Hendrix and Rhodes did not nominate anyone for the award.

ALYSSA
HAVENS OF HENDRIX COLLEGE,
a first-year goalkeeper from New Haven, Conn., has been selected the
SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played
Monday, September 24 through Sunday, September 30.
Havens
played 130 minutes of a possible
140 minutes this week and faced 29 shots while making 27 saves and
allowing just two goals. She had 11 saves against SCAC foe DePauw
and 16 saves against Transylvania.
Havens, who has four games this season with 10+ saves, has 67
saves this season - a total that is already ninth on the all-time
SCAC single-season saves list. If Havens continues on her
pace of 9.57 saves per game, it would establish a new SCAC
single-season record.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore back Becca Rojek of
DePauw anchored the Tigers' defense that gave up only one goal
in two conference wins this weekend. Rojek showed great skill in
tackling and interception as she led a defense that gave up just
five shots and eight penalty corners. She played all 153 minutes in
the two wins. Junior back Sarah Scheer of Centre led the
Colonels' defense to victories over Transylvania and Sewanee last
week. Scheer and the Centre defense shutout Transylvania 4-0 for the
team's fifth shutout victory of the season and conceded only the
second goal in six home matches late in the second half against
Sewanee. Scheer also helped to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard in
overtime as Centre scored early in the extra period to seal the
victory. Junior goalkeeper Clarkie Crawford of Sewanee had an
outstanding weekend as she faced 24 shots and recorded 16 saves,
half of them in overtime as the Tigers defeated Wittenberg in
penalty strokes on Sunday. Crawford also faced 15 shots and recorded
13 saves in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to undefeated Centre.
Rhodes
did not nominate anyone for the award.

CAROLYN MUELLER OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY, a junior forward from
St. Louis, Mo., has been
selected the SCAC Field Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches
played Monday, September 17 through Sunday, September 23.
Mueller
scored both goals in the
Tigers' 2-1 victory on Saturday at Denison, and had two assists in the team's
3-2 overtime victory on Sunday at Oberlin, totaling six points for the weekend.
Showing great speed and skill both shooting and passing, Mueller, who played
all minutes, helped the offense out-shoot their opponents 29-19 for the weekend
and hold a 16-12 advantage in penalty corners.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore midfielder
Sally Faulkner of Centre recorded two goals on the weekend in games against
Rhodes College and Hendrix College. Faulkner scored her second goal of the
season with less than three minutes remaining in regulation against Rhodes to
tie the game and then played all thirty minutes of seven-a-side overtime in the
Colonels' eventual win. Against Hendrix, Faulkner scored her third goal of the
season off an assist from senior Taylor Gray to give Centre some breathing room
early in the second half.
First-year midfielder Charlie
Wagner of Rhodes scored two goals for the
Lynx this weekend - her second and third on the season. The Madison, N.J.,
native scored the second goal for Rhodes in Saturday’s loss against Centre to
put the Lynx up 2-1 with 15 minutes to play. She also scored the second goal in
Sunday’s 3-0 win over Sewanee. Wagner's incredibly skilled play in addition to
her speed makes her a force on the field at all times.
Hendrix and Sewanee did not nominate anyone for the award.

ANN GUAGLIARDO OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a senior goalkeeper from Louisville, Ky., has been
selected the SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches
played Monday, September 17 through Sunday, September 23.
Guagliardo
recorded 14 saves in a dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind
victory over Rhodes College on Saturday. Three of Guagliardo’s saves
came against break-away opportunities in the second over-time
period.
She also saved three of Rhodes’ four penalty stroke
opportunities in the shootout to secure the win.
Guagliardo now has
a 5-0 record on the year and a 0.917 save percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Kate Dobbins of DePauw had an outstanding weekend controlling the midfield for
the Tigers in two wins
this weekend. Dobbins, played back in the beginning of the season,
showed great leadership on the field and intelligence in her tackling and
distribution of the ball. Dobbins led the DePauw defense that gave up
only 19 shots and 12 corners for the weekend. Junior defender
Maria Cowley of Rhodes had a
great weekend for the Lynx defense which gave up only two goals in
170 minutes of play. The Louisville, Ky., native helped the Lynx
stay in the game against Centre, allowing only one first half goal
on Centre’s nine penalty corners and 16 shots in the first 35
minutes of play. Cowley’s skill and strength are continually
utilized by the Lynx, and she was a primary player for the team in
both overtime periods against Centre.
Hendrix and Sewanee did not nominate anyone for the award.

ERIN ATMAR OF RHODES

selected the SCAC Field Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for

played Monday, September 10 through Sunday, September
16.
Atmar
scored four goals (eight points) for
the Lynx this weekend in two regional wins.
She tallied her first collegiate hat trick against Hendrix on Saturday scoring
three times on six shots, and scored the game-winner for the Lynx in Sunday’s
3-1 win over Transylvania.
On the play, Atmar gained possession around the 25, beat two defenders
and put the ball in the upper right part of the net to beat the goalie.
Atmar leads the Lynx with five goals on the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder/forward Marcy Tickner of Sewanee scored her first two
goals of the season, including the game-winner, in the Tigers' 3-2 overtime
victory on Sunday against DePauw. Tickner also added an assist in Sewanee's
3-1 victory over Transylvania on Saturday. Tickner generated nine attacking
shots against Transy and four shots against DePauw. Senior midfielder Taylor
Gray of Centre contributed to five of the Colonels' eight goals in two
victories this past week. Gray posted the game-winning goal (her first of the
season) and an assist in
Centre's 3-0 win over conference foe DePauw on Saturday and tallied an
incredible three assists in Centre's 5-1 win over Lindenwood on Sunday. Gray
also led the Colonels in shots and shots on goal this weekend. DePauw and
Hendrix did not nominate anyone for the award.

ASHLEY DISTLER OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a senior defender from Louisville, Ky., has been
selected the SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches
played Monday, September 10 through Sunday, September
16.
Distler
helped dictate the pace of both matches with her leadership
and presence in the backfield, resulting in the Colonels' third
shutout win of the season against DePauw and a lone goal against the
speedy and potent penalty corner attack of Lindenwood.
The goal on Sunday was the only the third Centre has allowed this
season.
Distler also posted four shots on the weekend.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender O'Brien Wolff of Rhodes
was key for the Lynx this weekend
on both ends of the field, leading a defense that allowed only nine
shots and one goal in 140 minutes of play. On the offensive end of
the field, Wolff scored her first collegiate goal in Saturday’s
match against Hendrix on a penalty corner play.

goalkeeper
Clarkie Crawford of Sewanee
faced 24 shots and
recorded 15 saves, four of them in overtime, as Sewanee defeated
DePauw 3-2 in a very close overtime game on Sunday. Crawford also
played the first half of the Transylvania game with no goals
against. DePauw and
Hendrix did not nominate anyone for the award.

matches played Monday, Sept. 3rd - Sunday, Sept. 9th)
ASHLEY FEHR OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY, a
sophomore forward from Cincinnati, Ohio, has been
selected the SCAC Field Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches
played Monday, September 4 through Sunday, September 9.
Fehr scored the game-tying goal against Wittenberg in the eventual 2-1
win on Monday and then punched in the game-winning goal with 3:35 left in
Sunday's 2-1 win over Lindenwood.
Fehr, who played all 70 minutes in both contests, leads the Tigers in
both goals scored (three) and points (six).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Teresa Johnstone of Centre
led the Colonels' attack with six shots, one
goal, one assist and earned a penalty stroke against Bridgewater College and
Washington and Lee University on games played Saturday and Sunday in Virginia.
Johnstone’s intensity in the attacking circle was complemented by her solid
possession and distribution over the highly-ranked opposition from the Old
Dominion Athletic Conference. She leads Centre in scoring with nine points and
four goals through four games this season. First-year forward Lindsey
Gurkovich of Rhodes scored her first collegiate goal - the game-winner - in
the Lynx' 1-0 win over regional-rival Kenyon College on Sunday. Gurkovich's
goal was came on one of her two shots on the afternoon and gives her five shots
for the season. Hendrix and Sewanee did not play.

LAURA DEINES
OF RHODES COLLEGE,
a sophomore sweeper from Kansas City, Mo., has been
selected the SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches
played Monday, September 3 through Sunday, September 9.
Deines, after playing the midfield as a freshman, has
stepped into the starting lineup as a sweeper and done a phenomenal
job for the Lynx.
This past weekend, Deines led a Rhodes defense that allowed
just 11 shots in 140 minutes of play and posted two shutout
victories.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year goalkeeper
Liz Attewell of DePauw allowed just two goals in two DePauw wins
over Wittenberg and Lindenwood. Attewell, who saved a penalty stroke
against Wittenberg, had five saves in each game. First-year back
Sarah Humphries of Centre
anchored the Colonels' defense in
victories over Bridgewater College and Washington and Lee
University. Humphries and the Centre defense limited Bridgewater to
four shots on the day and scored the game-winning penalty stroke
with less than three minutes remaining in regulation. She also
played a vital role in the 3-1 victory over Washington and Lee by
stopping several potentially threatening attacks from the Generals

Offensive Player-of-the-Week

TERESA JOHNSTONE OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a junior forward from Louisville, Ky., has been
selected the SCAC Field Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches
played Friday, August 31 through Monday, September
3.
Coming back from recent knee surgery, Johnstone scored a hat
trick in Saturday's 6-0 win over Oberlin - finding the net on all three of her
shot attempts.
Johnstone played a solid all-around game in the Centre's 2-0 win over
College of Wooster on Sunday, and was quite a presence over the entire weekend
as the Colonels jumped to a 2-0 start to the 2007 season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Lynn Hancock of Sewanee scored two goals against Sweet
Briar College as the Tigers bested the host team 4-0. On Sunday, She scored
Sewanee's only goal in a 5-1 loss to Lynchburg. Hancock finished the week with
three goals and six points.
Sophomore forward Ashley Fehr of DePauw had the Tigers' lone goal in
Friday's 2-1 overtime loss to Kenyon. She played all 70 minutes and recorded
three shots in Saturday's 2-0 loss to DeSales. Hendrix and Rhodes did not nominate anyone for
the award.

ANN GUAGLIARDO
OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a senior goalkeeper from Louisville, Ky., has been
selected the SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches
played Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3.
Guagliardo
posted consecutive shutouts against Oberlin and College of Wooster
over the weekend, leading the Colonels to a 2-0 start to the 2007
season.
Guagliardo saved all 10 shots on goal as well as a penalty
stroke behind a Colonel defense that allowed just 18 shots in total
over the weekend.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior defender Elizabeth Wilber of Sewanee had an
outstanding weekend in the backfield as the Tigers held Sweet Briar
to no goals on just two shots on net. Wilber also was outstanding in
marking Lynchburg's Allie Weir, the 2006 Division III
Rookie-of-the-Year. Wilber held Weir to one goal after Weir had
scored four goals in Lynchburg's pervious game.
DePauw, Hendrix and Rhodes did not nominate
anyone for the award.
