career.
The senior running back
had a school record 45 carries for 181 yards in the Tigers' 24-21

touchdowns - breaking marks formerly held by Tim McDaniel of Centre (1988-91)
who had 54 total touchdowns and 324 points.
It was Marks' 19th career 100-yard rushing game and the senior finishes
his career with 3,869 rushing yards (third in SCAC history) and 4,325
all-purpose yards (second in DePauw history).

Senior tight end Nolan Swett of
Colorado College tied his
single-game high with three touchdown catches in CC's season finale against
Centre College. He scored on
receptions of 9, 32 and 12 yards, finishing the year with 10 TD receptions
which broke the program's single-season record of nine he shared with Tim Pytell (1984). It was his third
three-TD game of the season and the eighth multiple-touchdown game of his
career. Swett had six catches for 82 yards to finish his career as the Tigers'
all-time leader in receptions (199), receiving yards (2,198) and touchdowns

Colorado College in the season finale for both teams. After stopping the Tigers
on fourth down on the Centre 21-yard line late in the fourth quarter, Ware
capped off a 79-yard scoring drive with a 43-yard touchdown run to seal the win
for the Colonels and ensure a winning season. The sophomore back, who made the
transition this season from defensive back his freshman, year ended the season
with 549 rushing yards on 121 carries and three touchdowns. Ware, also caught a
pass for eight yards in the win and end the season with 179 receiving yards on

attempt and returned it to the Tiger's 31-yard line. One play later, the
Colonels scored to tie the game at seven.
On Colorado's very next drive, Sloan

WEEK 9
SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For
games played Saturday, Oct. 27th)
STEPHEN ARNOLD, BLAKE BARMORE, RILEY
CURRY, JOSH HOOTEN, BRANDON MADDUX, SHAWN THOMPSON AND MICHAEL TOMLIN - ALL OF
TRINITY UNIVERSITY - have been named the SCAC Football Offensive
Players-of-the-Week for their collective effort in Saturday's 28-24 victory over
Millsaps College.
If you have figured it out yet, these seven are the ones who handled the ball
during the "Mississippi Miracle" - the incredible 15-lateral, 60-yard circus act
that Trinity executed to perfection to defeat Millsaps on the final play of the
game in Saturday's battle for SCAC supremacy in Jackson.
Trailing 24-22 with two seconds
remaining and
the ball at his own 40-yard line, Barmore began the play with an
innocent 10-yard completion across the middle to Thompson.
But then, as fireworks were launched and the clock turned to 0:00, Thompson
began the sequence of laterals to Riley Curry.
From there it went from Curry to Josh Hooten (an offensive lineman) to
Michael Tomlin to
Stephen Arnold (another offensive
lineman) to Thompson to Brandon Maddux
to Curry to Maddux to Barmore to Thompson to Curry to Tomlin to Hooten to Maddux
to Curry, who rumbled the final 44 yards for the inexplicable score.
In the course of the play, Trinity initially
advanced to Millsaps' 42-yard line, then retreated to its 45, advanced to
Millsaps' 41, went back to its 42, moved ahead to Millsaps' 29 before moving
back to the 44 and then scoring from there.
The play has been nominated as one of four Pontiac Game Changing Performances on
ESPN.

the second quarter to put Centre ahead 7-0 and then snagged a 90-yard touchdown
reception with 7:01 left in the third quarter to extend the Colonels' lead to
24-0. Entering the game, Moore had caught 12 passes for 121 yards through seven
games, but now has 20 receptions for 248 yards (12.4 avg.) and two touchdowns.
Junior tight end Eric McCarty of Millsaps had another solid weekend for
the Majors' receiving core, hauling in seven catches for 120 yards and a score,
including the go ahead touchdown (14-10) on the first play from scrimmage in the
second half on a 52-yard strike. He has now gone over the 100-yard mark in
three-straight games and is the team-leader in receptions (42), yards (653), TDs

a total of 18 tackles (4.5 for loss), a forced fumble, fumble recovery and a
sack in a 44-10 win over Louisiana College. Wheat recorded four tackles (three
solo), 1.5 tackles-for-loss and his fourth career interception en route to
allowing only 159 total yards on the afternoon.
Senior defensive back Jake McCart of
Rhodes
led all defenders with 11 tackles,
including nine solo stops, in the Lynx 28-21 win over LaGrange College. McCart
also had a pass breakup as Rhodes improved to 1-0 on the season.
Centre and Colorado
College did not nominate anyone for the award, and Birmingham-Southern
and Sewanee did
not play.
WEEK 1
SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For
games played Thursday, Aug. 30th and Saturday, Sept. 1st)

BLAKE MEARS OF SEWANEE: UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH,
a 6-0, 205-pound senior running back from Lizella, Ga., has been selected the
SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Thursday, August 30
and Saturday, September
1.
Mears rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries in Sewanee's
season-opening win over Westminster (Mo.). He averaged 5.7 yards per carry,
including a long of 50 yards.
This is the second straight stellar season-opening performance for Mears.
Last season, he rushed
for 149 yards and three touchdowns and caught three passes for 109 yards,
including a 73-yard scoring reception, in Sewanee's 42-35 victory over
Hampden-Sydney.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Junior running back Ross Hasten of Austin rushed 10 times for 95 yards,
an average of 9.5 yards-per-carry, and scored twice as the 'Roos scored 35
straight points to overcome an early 14-0 deficit against Southwest Assemblies
of God. Hasten also had one catch for 10 yards, and scored on runs of 35 and 28
yards. Junior receiver Chris Coleman of Trinity
caught five passes for 88 yards and
a touchdown on Saturday, helping lead the Tigers to a 23-0 season-opening
victory over East Texas Baptist University. Coleman, who had just two career
receptions (both in 2006) prior to this game, also caught a 30-yard scoring pass
against ETBU last season – his first career touchdown. This past Saturday was
the first career start for Coleman.
Junior
quarterback Juan Joseph of Millsaps
looked solid in the Majors’
opening game of the 2007 season, throwing for 289 yards and three touchdowns in
just three quarters of action. Joseph came out of the gate firing, completing
his first eight passes en route to a 25-for-37 night where he hooked up with 11
different receivers. Dating back to last season, Joseph has thrown for 200 yards
or more in 10 of his last 11 games, including six games with multiple touchdown
passes.
Centre
did not nominate anyone for the award and Birmingham-Southern,
Colorado College, DePauw and Rhodes did
not play.
SCAC
Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week
(For
games played Thursday, Aug. 30th and Saturday, Sept. 1st)
ADAM HAY OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a 6-2, 205-pound junior linebacker from
Cincinnati,
Ohio, has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played Thursday, August 30 and Saturday, September
1.
Hay had a
huge opening day helping the Colonels defeat Bluffton (Ohio) University 14-9 on
the road.
Hay recorded 20 total tackles, including six solo and 14 assisted
tackles, in helping Centre limit the Beavers to only 179 total offensive yards,
with only 63 of those coming on the ground.
Hay also tallied four tackles for loss, including his first two sacks of
the season in the win.
Other outstanding performances
in the SCAC:
Senior defensive back Fred Rhodes of Sewanee
had seven total tackles, a fumble recovery, two broken up passes, and a blocked
kick in Sewanee's 30-21 defeat of Westminster (Mo.). Senior defensive back
Lee Patterson of Trinity,
one of the team
captains this season, recorded four tackles – three solo – and an interception
to lead Trinity to a 23-0 shutout in the season opener against East Texas
Baptist on Saturday. After Trinity scored on its first possession of the third
quarter, ETBU took over with a chance to answer that score and get back in the
game. On the second play of the drive, Patterson picked off a pass at the 36
yard line, returning it to the 23, and setting the Tiger offense up for a score
that would put his team up 16-0 halfway through the period. Last season,
Patterson was sixth on the team with 43 tackles, and though he recovered a
fumble, he did not have an interception. His interception on Saturday was the
fourth pick of his career.
Junior linebacker Scooter Means of Austin picked up where he left off
last year as the 'Roos leading tackler, making eight stops, including four solo
tackles, in a 35-21 win over Southwest Assemblies of God. He also had one forced
fumble. Junior defensive back Jonathan Brooks of Millsaps
filled in nicely in
the Majors’ starting defensive lineup, picking up six total tackles (five solo)
and a forced fumble – all in the first half – in Thursday night’s loss at
Mississippi College. Brooks chased down MC receiver Eric Allen at the Majors’
5-yardline after he broke into the secondary, popping the ball loose to allow
teammate Kevin Peters to recover and keep the Choctaws out of the endzone. The
touchdown would have tied the game early at 6-6.
Birmingham-Southern,
Colorado College, DePauw and Rhodes did
not play.
