SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Oct. 4th)

TYLER OSTERMAN OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a 6-1, 180-pound first-year quarterback from Monroe, Ohio, and JUAN JOSEPH OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a 6-1, 188-pound senior quarterback from Edgard, La., have been named the SCAC Football Co-Offensive Players-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 4.
 
Osterman accounted for 345 of Centre’s 363 total yards (95%) in the Colonels 28-16 win at Sewanee. He completed 18 of 29 passes for 239 yards
and two touchdowns and also rushed for 106 yards on 24 carries (4.4 yards per carry).  

Joseph accounted for 410 of Millsaps’ 590 total yards of offense in a 55-13 home win over DePauw. He connected on 33 of 43 passes for 345 yards, to go along with two touchdown passes. Joseph also rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns including a 46 yard scamper in the second quarter.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior running back Ross Hasten of
Austin ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in Austin’s 36-17 win over Colorado College. Hasten rushed for 97 of his 118 yards in the second half. Firs year wide receiver Jake Jackson caught six passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. Senior running back Chris Baer of Trinity averaged 7.4 yards per carry and totaled 141 yards on the ground in the Tigers’ 48-20 win over Birmingham-Southern. He is the first Tiger to rush for over 100 yards since Jerrold Jones ran for 158 yards in 2004. Birmingham-Southern College, Colorado College, DePauw University and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award.


SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Oct. 4th)

DESMOND HENDRICKS OF RHODES COLLEGE, a 6-3, 223-pound senior linebacker from Chattanooga, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 4.

Hendricks tallied 13 tackles (seven solo), 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and forced two fumbles in Rhodes’ 28-10 win over Washington (Mo.).

His 7.5 tackles for loss established a new SCAC single-game record and was one short of the NCAA Division III record of 8.5. The former conference mark was held by Dylan Tarr of Rose-Hulman, who had 6.5 tackles for loss against Millsaps on Oct. 18, 2003. Hendricks’ 4.5 sacks also tied an SCAC single-game record.

Senior corner back Matt Finke of
Austin recorded a tackle, pass break up, blocked a field goal, recovered a fumble and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown. Junior linebacker Brian Sneed of Centre racked up a game-high 10 tackles, and tallied three tackles for loss in Centre’s 28-16 win at Sewanee. Senior linebacker Cap White of Millsaps registered four tackles and intercepted a pass in Millsaps’ 55-13 win over DePauw. Junior linebacker Jeff Jones of Trinity posted a game-high 10 total tackles to go along with 1.5 tackles for loss in Trinity’s 48-20 win over Birmingham-Southern. Birmingham-Southern College, Colorado College,  DePauw University and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award.
 


SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Oct. 4th)

NED MCCASTER OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a 5-8, 170-pound sophomore kick returner from Spring Hill, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 4.

McCaster averaged 39 yards per kickoff, including an 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter in Centre’s 28-16 win at Sewanee.  

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore kick returner Taylor Russolino of Millsaps connected on 7 of 8 PAT attempts to set a new Majors single-season record by making 29 of 31 attempts. Junior wide receiver/kick returner Caleb Urban of Trinity returned his only kickoff 54 yards to set up the Tigers with great field position in their 48-20 win over Birmingham-Southern. Urban is averaging 40.8 yards per kickoff on the season.
Austin College, Birmingham-Southern, Colorado College, DePauw University, Rhodes College, and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award.
 


WEEK 4

SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Sept. 27th)

BURT PEREIRA OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a 6-0, 160-pound senior receiver from Bush, La., has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Players-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 27.
 
Pereira hauled in a career-high 10 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns in the Majors’ 49-2 win at conference foe Rhodes.
 
His 138 receiving yards are a single-game high for a Millsaps receiver this season.


Pereira’s touchdowns spanned five and seven yards and were the fifth and sixth touchdowns of his career.


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year tight end John Coomer of Centre caught nine passes for 84 yards. Four of his nine receptions were for first downs. The DePauw offensive line helped pave the way for the Tigers’ 27-20 win over Sewanee. The offensive line helped average 5.9 yards per play for the game and did not allow a sack. Senior wide receiver Riley Curry of Trinity caught six passes for 95 yards and one touchdown to lead Trinity to a 35-10 victory over Colorado College. His six catches matched his total from the previous two games.
Austin College, Colorado College, Rhodes College and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award, and Birmingham-Southern College did not play.


SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Sept. 27th)

ZACK SLOAN OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a 5-11, 196-pound junior corner back from Lebanon, Ind., has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 27.

Sloan notched five tackles, intercepted two passes, broke up one pass, and recovered a fumble in Centre’s 22-17 win at Austin College.

His first interception ended Austin’s second drive of the game at Centre’s 2-yard line and his second interception came at the end of the game to foil
Austin’s comeback attempt.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior line backer Scooter Means of
Austin recorded 12 tackles and returned an interception 15 yards against Centre. Senior strong safety Marc Hoeppner of DePauw tallied four tackles and an interception in the Tigers’ 27-20 win over Sewanee. Junior line backer Lee Klein of Millsaps recorded five tackles, two pass breakups, a sack, and a 55-yard interception that led to a touchdown three plays later. Senior defensive end Raymond Clark of Trinity collected eight total tackles, including two tackles for loss in Trinity’s 35-10 win over Colorado College. Colorado College,  Rhodes College and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award, and Birmingham-Southern College did not play.
 


SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Sept. 27th)

CALEB URBAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a 6-1, 200-pound junior wide receiver/kick returner from Victoria Texas., has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 27.

Urban returned the second half kick 100 yards for a touchdown to spark Trinity to a 35-10 win over SCAC foe Colorado College. His kickoff extended the Tigers lead to 21-3 and helped deflate any Colorado College comeback attempt.

Urban is the first Trinity player to return a kickoff for a touchdown since his older brother – Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Jerheme Urban – returned a kickoff for a score against
St. John’s in the 2002 NCAA Division III Playoffs.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore kick returner Jimmy Warren of Centre returned three kicks 130 yards (43.3 yard average) including a long of 52 yards in the Colonels’ 22-17 win over Austin College. Junior defensive end Alex Fitch of DePauw blocked a first quarter field goal and a fourth quarter extra point in DePauw’s 27-20 win over Sewanee.
Austin College, Colorado College, Millsaps College, Rhodes College and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award, and Birmingham-Southern College did not play.



WEEK 3

SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Sept. 20th)

ALEX KOORS OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a 6-2, 165-pound sophomore receiver from Indianapolis, Ind., has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Players-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 20.

Koors caught eight passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns in 27-14 win at Centre.

His 220 receiving yards equaled the second-best single-game performance in school history and was the second best in SCAC (1991-present) history. Canann Factor of Trinity had 231 yards receiving against McMurry on Sept. 12, 1998.

Koors' performance also ranks as the most receiving yards in a game between two SCAC opponents. Five of his receptions were for 25 or more yards and four were for 35 or more yards.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore fullback Chris Skinner of Millsaps ran for a touchdown and caught a touchdown in the Majors’ 41-7 victory over SCAC foe Austin College. He finished the day with 32 yards on three carriers to go along with his one-yard touchdown. Senior running back Chris Hoggard of Rhodes tallied a game-high 161 yards on 31 carries and scored a touchdown in the Lynx 35-7 win over Birmingham-Southern. 
Austin College, Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College, Colorado College and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award, and Trinity University did not play.
 


SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Sept. 20th)

CHALANKIS BROWN OF SEWANEE-UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a 5-10, 170-pound sophomore defensive back from Millbrook, Ala., has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 20.

Brown had four interceptions, two tackles for a loss, and seven total tackles as the Tigers of Sewanee shut out Colorado College 19-0 on Saturday.

He also had 64 yards of returns on his picks.

Brown's four interceptions tie the Sewanee school record for picks in a game.


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defensive back Alex Ubelhart of Centre recorded 11 tackles, including nine solo and one interception. Junior defensive end Alex Fitch of DePauw finished with one tackle, a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery in the Tigers’ 27-14 win over Centre. Senior defensive lineman Denarold Anderson of Millsasps tallied seven tackles, forced a fumble and recorded a sack in Millsaps 41-7 win over Austin. Senior defensive end Marc Mattioli of Rhodes led a Lynx defense that recorded six sacks and had 15 tackles for loss and limited Birmingham-Southern to 127-yards of total offense in a 35-7 win.
Austin College, Birmingham-Southern College and Colorado College did not nominate anyone for the award, and Trinity University did not play.


SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Sept. 20th)

GEOFF MAROLDA OF SEWANEE-UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a 5-11, 155-pound sophomore punter from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 20.

Marolda averaged 43.9 yards per punt on seven punts with a long of 56 yards in the Tigers’ 19-0 win over Colorado College.

Marolda also placed two of his punts inside the 10-yard line.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore kicker Taylor Russolino of Millsaps was a perfect five of five on all of his PAT attempts as Millsaps beat Austin 41-7. He also connected on both of his field goals from 28 and 24 yards. Russolino accounted for 11 of Millsaps’ 41 points on the afternoon. Austin College, Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College, Colorado College, DePauw University and Rhodes College did not nominate anyone for the award, and Trinity University did not play.


WEEK 2

SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Thursday, Sept. 11th - Sunday, Sept. 14th)

SPUD DICK OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a 5-11, 190-pound junior quarterback from Indianapolis, Ind., has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Players-of-the-Week for games played from Thursday, September 11 through Sunday, September 14.

Dick
paced the Tigers in a 52-17 win over Anderson (Ind.). He completed 20 of 26 passes for 254 yards and four touchdowns, while playing only three quarters. In the second quarter alone, Dick connected on 12 of his 14 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore wide receiver/kick returner Michael Galatas of Millsaps totaled 212 all-purpose yards in a 34-14 win over cross-street rival Belhaven. Galatas had four catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns and averaged 31 yards on two kick returns. Junior running back Chris Baer of Trinity tallied his second consecutive 100-yard performance as the Tigers beat Texas Lutheran 24-0. Baer totaled 116 yards on 17 carries (6.8 per carry) and had two catches for 29 yards and one touchdown.  Austin College, Centre College, Colorado College,
Rhodes College and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award, and Birmingham-Southern College did not play.


SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Thursday, Sept. 11th - Sunday, Sept. 14th)

MASON MOSBY OF RHODES COLLEGE, a 6-0, 210-pound senior linebacker from Hernando, Miss., has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Thursday, September 11 through Sunday, September 14.

Mosby led a Lynx defense that forced five turnovers and limited Louisiana College to 153 yards of total offense. Mosby posted 14 tackles, forced a fumble, intercepted a pass and had a pass breakup in Rhodes’ 14-3 loss.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior linebacker Adam Hay of Centre had a game-high 13 tackles, two tackles for loss and forced a fumble in the Colonels 20-17 loss to Maryville (Tenn.). Senior defensive back Michael Sims of Millsaps finished with a career-high nine tackles, broke up two passes and intercepted another in the Majors’ 34-14 victory over cross-street rival Belhaven. Sophomore defensive back Baron Rabe of Trinity recorded four tackles, an interception and brok up a pass in Trinity’s 24-0 win over Texas Lutheran. Senior defensive end Michael McNelis of DePauw totaled five tackles including 2.5 sacks totaling 22 yards in losses. In all the defensive line finished with six sacks for 45 yards.
Austin College, Colorado College and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award, and Birmingham-Southern College did not play.


SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Thursday, Sept. 11th - Sunday, Sept. 14th)

WILLIAM LAWRIMORE OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a 5-8, 169-pound junior punter from Tampa, Fla., has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Thursday, September 11 - Sunday, September 14.

Lawrimore averaged 48.3 yards per punt on seven punts including two that were downed inside the 20-yard line.

Midway through the third quarter, Lawrimore set a school record with a
77 yard punt that led the Majors to a touchdown two plays later.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior kicker Peter Licalzi of Trinity
was a perfect four of four on all of his PAT attempts as Trinity shutout Texas Lutheran 24-0. He connected on a 19-yard field goal, his first of the season. Licalzi is second on the team in scoring with 12 points. Junior kicker Jordan Havercamp of DePauw kicked a 33-yard field goal and was 7-of-7 in extra points in the Tigers’ 52-17 victory over Anderson (Ind.). In addition, he kicked off nine times with six resulting in touchbacks, two going to the 3-yard line and one to the 10. Austin College, Centre College, Colorado College, Rhodes College and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone for the award, and Birmingham-Southern College did not play.
 

WEEK 1

SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Sept. 6th)

GRANT CONLIFFE OF CENTRE COLLEGE AND JUAN JOSEPH OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE have been named the SCAC Football Co-Offensive Players-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 6.

Conliffe, a 6-4, 217-pound junior quarterback from Louisville, Ky., led a Colonel offense that scored the most points in a single game since 2004.

He completed 25 of 34 (73.5 percent) passes for 262 yards and four touchdowns in a 46-22 win over Hanover (
Ind.). Conliffe added a 75-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Joseph, a 6-
2, 178-pound senior quarterback from Edgard, La., tallied 266 yards passing and three touchdowns in only three quarters of work in a 42-6 win over rival and #25 Mississippi College.

He completed 21 of 30 passes (70 percent) and added 31 rushing yards on four carries (7.8 average). He also completed passes to eight different receivers.


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore quarterback Joe Thingpen of Birmingham-Southern passed for
277 yards in two games for the Panthers going 14-22 with two touchdowns. Against LaGrange, Thinpen accounted for 264 total yards. Junior running back Chris Baer of Trinity ran for 120 yards and a touchdown in Trinity’s 48-18 victory over McMurry last Saturday. Baer also had three receptions for 28 yards and one touchdown. Junior running back Trey Reliford of Sewanee rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers’ 26-14 win over Wesminster (Mo.) Austin College did not nominate anyone for the award, and Colorado College, DePauw and Rhodes did not play.


SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Sept. 6th)

ADAM HAY OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a 6-2, 220-pound senior linebacker from Cincinnati, Ohio, has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 6.

Hay had a monster day in Centre’s 46-22 win over Hanover (Ind.). Hay posted a game-high 15 tackles, including six solo and nine assisted, 2.0 tackles for loss, one sack, one fumble recovery and intercepted a pass and returned it 46 yards setting up a Colonel score.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defensive back Michael Sims of Millsaps had a team-high seven tackles (five solo) and defended a pass in the Majors’ victory over rival and #25 Mississippi College. Junior defensive back Stuart Rast of Sewanee finished with seven tackles and two interceptions in the Panthers’ win over Westminster (Mo.). Senior defensive end Raymond Clark of Trinity tied for the team lead with eight tackles. He also picked up 1.5 tackles for loss and tallied three quarterback hurries in Trinity’s 48-18 win over McMurr.
Austin College and Birmingham-Southern did not nominate anyone for the award, and Colorado College, DePauw and Rhodes did not play.
 


SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week
(For games played Saturday, Sept. 6th)

ALFONZA KNIGHT OF SEWANEE-THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a 6-0, 190-pound first-year linebacker from Nashville, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 6.

Knight blocked a punt and returned it 20 yards to seal the Tigers' 26-14 win over Westminster (Mo.). He also chipped in with three tackles (two solo) from his linebacker position.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore kicker Taylor Russolino of Millsaps
connected on all six of his PAT attempts as Millsaps cruised past rival and #25 Mississippi College last Saturday. He has now connected on 18 of his last 19 PAT’s dating back to last season. Austin College, Birmingham-Southern, Centre and Trinity did not nominate anyone for the award, and Colorado College, DePauw and Rhodes did not play.
