Former Trinity and SCAC standout tapped to manage New Orleans youth program

NEW ORLEANS, La. - NCAA Football, the marketing and promotional voice of college football, has named Jeremy Boyce of Trinity University to serve as program manager for its newly created youth program, which it will launch in New Orleans this spring to help revitalize youth football in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Sewanee alumnus Robert Black (Class of 1989) has been named the school's 29th Head Football Coach according to Athletics Director Mark Webb. Millsaps' Jackson selected for Magnolia Grid-Iron Classic
JACKSON, Miss. - Chris Jackson of Millsaps College has been selected to play in the second annual Magnolia Grid-Iron Classic. The Classic is an innovative game concept that will allow prospects from Division I-A programs to participate in a contest against a small school roster comprised of Division I-AA, Division II and other players.

DePauw's Hertel; Trinity's Allen lead USA to Aztec Bowl victory
DePauw's Dustin Hertel paced the USA team with nine total tackles including two solos in the 28-7 victory over Mexico in the 2006 Aztec Bowl at Estadio Victoria in Aguascalientes, Mexico. He also led the team with three tackles for 17 yards in losses including two sacks for 17 yards. Hertel also forced a fumble in the victory. Three SCAC players were selected to the D3football.com 2006 All-America Team - led by First Team selection, senior receiver/kick returner Chris Jackson of Millsaps College. Jackson, selected as a return specialist, is the league's first First Team D3football honoree since DePauw University's Jamarcus Shephard and Trinity University's Jarrod Smith were both selected First Team in 2003. In addition to Jackson, senior defensive tackle Dustin Allen of Trinity was selected to the Third Team and senior defensive end Dustin Hertel of DePauw was named Honorable Mention. Jackson of Millsaps; Hertel of DePauw selected to Football Gazette Team of the Week
SUWANEE
, Ga. - Senior receiver/kick returner Chris Jackson of Millsaps and senior defensive end Dustin Hertel of DePauw were selected to the Football Gazette National Division III Team of the Week for their performances last Saturday. Jackson had two punt returns for a touchdown (51, 67 yards), one kick return for 49 yards and five catches for 26 yards and a touchdown in the Millsaps' 34-12 win over previously No. 14-ranked Trinity. Hertel had a team-high 14 tackles including four for losses of 18 yards in the Tigers 23-20 loss to Wabash in the Monon Bell game. JACKSON, Miss. - Chris Jackson returned two punts for touchdowns and also caught a 5-yard TD pass - all in the first half - to lead Millsaps College to a 34-12 victory over 14th-ranked Trinity University. , Ga. - DePauw University's Dustin Hertel and Millsaps College's Ronnie Wheat have been selected to the D3football.com National Team of the Week for their efforts on Saturday, November 4. Hertel had a career high 16 tackles (six solo), as well as 4.5 tackles for a loss, four sacks, two quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, in a 24-14 win over Austin. Wheat recorded five tackles, two pass breakups and two interceptions, including a 19-yard return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter that sealed the 14-6 victory at Rhodes. Millsaps College sophomore quarterback Juan Joseph (far left) and Centre College junior linebacker Matt Johnson (immediate left) have been selected to the Football Gazette National Team of the Week for games played this past weekend. Joseph passed for a school record-tying five touchdowns in the Majors' first win of the season - a 52-10 drubbing of Lincoln (Mo.). Walker named head football coach at DePauw
