Coaches-of-the-Year for 2008 Spring Sports Seasons
SUWANEE,
Ga. - After
exclusive voting by head coaches of each sport, the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced its 2008
Coaches-of-the-Year for men’s and women’s track and field and
men’s and women’s golf.

of 21 over par 305 and finished in sixth place at the 2008
NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships held at Chateau
Elan in Braselton, Georgia.

Oglethorpe University men's golf team saw their national
championship hopes dwindle considerably on Thursday afternoon
when they fell from second to fifth place after posting a team
score of 19 over par 303.

Oglethorpe moves to second at halfway point of NCAA Men's Golf
Championship
BRASELTON, Ga. - The
second-ranked Oglethorpe University golf team moved up the
leader board during the second day of competition at the NCAA
Division III Golf Championships and stand at second place as
the field was pared from 35 teams to 23 squads.

Oglethorpe in seventh after NCAA First Round
BRASELTON, Ga. - The
second-ranked Oglethorpe University golf team is in seventh
place after the first round of the NCAA Division III
Championships. The first two rounds of the 72-hole tournament
are being played at the Chateau Course and the Woodlands
Course at Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Ga.

Oglethorpe
prepares for NCAA Championships
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -
The NCAA
Division III Men's Golf Committee has announced the teams and
individuals selected to participate in the 2008 NCAA Division
III Men’s Golf Championships. Oglethorpe University, the SCAC
automatic qualifier, was the only conference school chosen to
compete.
The championships will be held May
13-16, at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Georgia.

Second-ranked Oglethorpe men earn second SCAC Golf Title in
three years
Petrels'
Urbanski takes Golfer-of-the-Year honors
DANVILLE, Ind. -
Second-ranked Oglethorpe
shot a final-round 296 and won the 2008 Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships by 17 strokes
over Trinity. The Stormy Petrels finished with a 922, while
Trinity was second at 939. Oglethorpe's Taylor Urbanksi was
the medalist with a 226 including a final-round 69.

Oglethorpe's Urbanski named to Nicklaus Award Watch List

NEW YORK, N.Y. —
Oglethorpe senior golfer Taylor
Urbanski was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America
Nicklaus Award watch list. The Nicklaus Award is presented to
the Player of the Year in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as
well as the NAIA and represents the highest honor any
collegiate golfer can receive. The Nicklaus Award recipients
will be named immediately following the final round of each
respective national championship.

released, combining the resources of Golf World
magazine, NIKE Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of
America (GCAA). Methodist
remained the top team in the Division III poll, earning 13 of
the 14 first-place votes.

Golf Coaches' Poll
NEW YORK, N.Y. — The first Golf World/NIKE
Golf Division III Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been
released, combining the resources of Golf World
magazine, NIKE Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of
America (GCAA). Oglethorpe takes over sole possession of the
number one spot, earning 11 of the 13 first-place votes.
Rhodes College is ranked sixth and Centre College is 13th.
DePauw University and Trinity University also received votes.
