Owen of Oglethorpe and
Lazar of DePauw; Breuer of Trinity take Golf and Track and Field COTY honors

After exclusive voting by the head coaches of each sport, the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced its 2003 Coaches-of-the-Year for

CHICAGO, Ill. -
DePauw University's outstanding season not
only included a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championships, but
also some individual honors as well. Deborah Garriott and Jessica Schneider were
named first team all-Americans by the National Golf Coaches Association, while
Lindsey Amore was a second team choice. Head coach Vince Lazar was named the
Region 2 Coach of the Year and freshmen Lisa Chambers and Lauren Brummett were
selected as All-American Scholars.

GREEN LAKES, Wisc.

The DePauw University Tigers finished third
at the NCAA Division III Championships and, with last year's fourth-place
showing, became the first team in any sport at DePauw to finish in the top four
at the NCAA Championships in consecutive years. The Tigers totaled 1,349 strokes
which was just one behind second-place Mary Hardin-Baylor. Methodist won its
sixth straight title with a 1,295 total. Lindsay Amore led the Tigers with a 331
which was good for a tie for eighth. Jessica Schneider tied for 15th with a 336
and Deborah Garriott tied for 20th with a 339.

GREEN LAKES, Wisc.

The DePauw University Tigers shot a 330
during Thursday's third round of the NCAA Division III Championships to move up
to second place at 44 strokes behind Methodist (N.C.) College. Methodist leads
with a 974 followed by DePauw at 1,018, Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 1,020 and Mary
Hardin-Baylor at 1,021.
Jessica Schneider shot a team-low 81 in
the third round to move into a tie for 15th in the field. Lindsay Amore
is 14th overall after shooting an 84 on Thursday. Lisa Chambers is tied
for 19th after an 85 in round three, while Deborah Garriott is 25th
after shooting an 80 on Thursday. Audra Butts rounds out the DePauw
players with a 53rd-place showing overall and a 93 on Thursday. The
fourth and final round begins Friday morning.

The DePauw Tigers shot a 353 in Wednesday's second round
of the NCAA Division III Championships at Green Lake, Wis., to slip to
fourth place overall. Lindsay Amore shot an 85 on Wednesday followed by
Jessica Schneider with an 88 and Lisa Chambers with an 89. Deborah
Garriott shot a 91 followed by Audra Butts with a 99.

Paced by a collegiate-low round of 81
by freshman Lisa Chambers, DePauw University shot a 335 and is in third
place after the first of four rounds at the NCAA Division III
Championships in Green Lake, Wisc. Methodist leads with a 316 and
Mary-Hardin Baylor is second at 333.

among 10 teams selected for Division III Women's Golf Championships
GREEN LAKE, Wisc. -
The 2003 NCAA
Division III Women's Golf Championships will be conducted May 13-16 at
The Golf Courses of Lawsonia in Green Lake, Wis. The Midwest Conference
will serve as the host.
Ten teams, two teams from each of the five regions, were selected for
the championships, including 2003 SCAC women's champion DePauw
University. This is the second consecutive season the Tigers have made
the NCAA tournament field.
In addition, ten individuals not from selected teams also qualified for
the
championships. Among those individuals invited was Jen Hudson of Rhodes
College.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- DePauw University clinched the 2003 SCAC
Women's Golf Championship with a two-day total of 663 shots. The victory
gave the DU Tigers their second consecutive SCAC women's golfing title.
Junior
Deb Garriott won the individual title after a playoff win over teammate
Lindsay Amore. Finishing third was Jessica Snyder, also of DePauw.

DePauw finishes fourth, Rhodes fifth at NCAA Women's Golf
Championships

schools maintain position for the duration of tournament
SOUTH HADLEY,
Mass. -
DePauw University and Rhodes College gave new meaning to the word
"consistent" as the two SCAC schools ended round one in fourth
and fifth respectively, and when the 2002 NCAA Division III Women's Golf
Championships ended on Friday, both found themselves in the same
position. (Complete

DePauw shot a final-round 331 to finish at +235, just three strokes
behind third-place Amherst College. Rhodes fired a final-round 343 to
finish at +248 - enough to hold off sixth-place McMurry University by
one stroke.
Methodist College started the day with a 21-shot lead and expanded that
to a 31-shot victory with a final-round 322 to take the school's
third-consecutive women's championship. It was the second straight round
of 322 for Methodist. Mary Hardin-Baylor finished in second.
For DePauw, Jessica Schneider shot the low round on Friday with an 80.
She was also the low individual for the tournament for the Tigers,
finishing at +57 and in 24th place. Also on Friday for DePauw, Audra
Butts fired an 80 and finished in 26th place. Lindsay Amore had an 89
(30th), Deb Garriott shot 86 (33rd) and Mandy Levy had an 84 (54th).
For Rhodes, Laura McKinney had a team-low 80 on Friday - the
fourth-consecutive day she led the Lynx. McKinney finished 12th overall
at +45. Whitney Bryant shot an 88 and Lauren Kwedar shot 90 and both
finished tied for 40th place overall. Allsion Baltusis finished with a
final-round 85 and in 48th place overall. Mary Jaco withdrew from the
tournament on Friday.

Oglethorpe
men three-peat as SCAC Golf Champions; DePauw women earn first
links title

JACKSON, Miss. – Oglethorpe’s Chris Summers shot a
two-day total of 150 to become the school’s fourth golfer to take
medallist honors and lead the Petrels to their third-consecutive men’s
golf championship.
Oglethorpe, which as won four of the last five SCAC men’s golf titles,
defeated second-place Trinity by nine shots (626-635).
On the women’s side, DePauw University broke Rhodes College’s
two-year run as conference champions, defeating the Lynx 706-711. All
five DePauw golfers earned all-conference honors, an unequaled feat in
the history of the championships.
Laura McKinney of Rhodes, who shot a two-day total of 165, continued the
school’s tradition of garnering top medallist honors, becoming the
fourth Lynx linkster in the last six competed championships to be so
honored (there was no tournament in 1997).
