In the individual competition, DePauw's Sarah Gates finished fourth and Laura McKinney of Rhodes College finished tied for 12th.

GREEN LAKE, Wisc. - DePauw University freshman Sarah Gates (pictured left) shot a first-round 76 to lead the field of 60 individuals and help the top-ranked Tigers to a tie for second with a 327 at the NCAA Division III Championships at the Golf Courses of Lawsonia. Story on DePauw website

Competing as an individual, Laura McKinney of Rhodes College is tied for 43rd after a first-round 88.

Top-ranked DePauw headed back to NCAA Championships

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The top-ranked DePauw women's golf team has earned a berth into the 2004 NCAA Division III Championships to be held in Green Lake, Wis., May 11-14. The four-round tournament takes place at the Golf Courses of Lawsonia. The team invitation is the Tigers' third consecutive with a fourth place finish in 2002 and a third-place showing last year. In addition, Trinity University's Kristan Stanley will compete as one of 10 individuals. Stanley finished sixth at the 2004 SCAC Championships two weekends ago.

Ga. -- DePauw University, the top-ranked team in DIII women's golf, cruised to a comfortable 26 shot victory at the 2004 SCAC Women's Golf Championship which was contested at Renaissance Pine Isle Resort.
