Men's Cross Country
CHASS ARMSTRONG OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Boerne,
Texas,
has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week
for meets run Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6.
Armstrong
ran a career best 25:50 at the University of the Incarnate Word
Invitational on Saturday and finished second overall behind former
high school teammate and Division II standout David Fuentes who has
several individual titles to his name this season. Armstrong's
time places him third all-time on the Trinity best performances list
behind a pair of national qualifiers. He was in a two-man battle for
the win until the final mile. Armstrong led the team to a
first-place finish in the all Division I and II field, improving on
the third-place team finish from this meet a year ago.
Women's
Cross Country
EMILY
LOEFFLER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY,
a junior from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's
Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, October 5 and
Saturday, October 6.
Loeffler set a school record at the University of Incarnate Word
Invitational on Saturday, pacing the women in 17:55 for a second
place individual finish in the 5K race. Loeffler broke her
own school record by more than 26 seconds and becomes the first
female in Trinity history to run a sub-18 time in the 5k. The
Trinity women went on to win the team title in the all Division I
and II field in humid, 80 degree weather.
Field Hockey - Offensive
KATIE SLIMP OF RHODES
COLLEGE, a senior
forward from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Field
Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday, October 1
through Sunday, October 7.
Slimp scored two goals for the Lynx, including the
game-winner in overtime, in Saturday’s 4-3 victory over Sewanee. The two goals
were her fourth and fifth of the season and the senior is second on the team in
both goals and points.
The second goal against Sewanee was Slimp's second game-winner this
season.
Field Hockey - Defensive
O'BRIEN WOLFF OF RHODES COLLEGE,
a senior defender from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the
SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played
Monday, October 1 through Sunday, October 7.
Wolff controlled the pace for the Lynx this weekend in two
overtime victories. She was instrumental on both ends of the field
for Rhodes in the team's 4-3 overtime victory over Sewanee and 1-0
double-overtime upset of Centre. Wolff contributed a goal in
the Sewanee game to put the Lynx up with 1:14 to play and anchored
the defense that held Centre scoreless for the first time this
season.
Football - Offensive
ROSS ALISIANI OF
COLORADO COLLEGE,
a 6-4, 214-pound senior wide receiver from Denver, Colo., has been selected the
SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 6.
Alisiani
set career highs with 190 receiving yards and three touchdowns in
Colorado College's 44-14 victory at Macalester College. It was the first
multi-touchdown game of his career and the second with 100 or more receiving
yards. Alisiani averaged 21.1 yards per catch and went over the
1,000-yard mark for career receiving yards.
It was the most receiving yards in a game for Colorado College since Jake Craig
had 236 yards on 12 receptions against Rhodes on Oct. 25, 2003, and the first
time a Tiger had three TD receptions in a game since Tim Wolfmeyer versus
Trinity Bible College on Nov. 10, 2001.
It was the most yards receiving by a SCAC player since David Crowley of Centre
had 218 yards against DePauw on Oct. 30, 2004.
Alisiani currently leads the team with 31 catches (second in the SCAC),
416 yards (second in the SCAC) and five touchdowns (tied for first in the SCAC).
He ranks second on the team in scoring.
Football - Defensive
DESMOND HENDRICKS OF
RHODES
COLLEGE,
a 6-2, 223-pound junior defensive end from Chattanooga, Tenn., has been selected
the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday,
October 6.
Hendricks
led a Rhodes defense that limited 12th-ranked Trinity to 13 points and only 47
yards rushing in Saturday's 27-13 upset victory.
Hendricks' fumble return of 65 yards for a touchdown helped put the game
out of reach with 5:43 to play as the Lynx rallied for 21 unanswered fourth
quarter points.
Hendricks finished the game with eight tackles (4 solo), 1.5 sacks, 3.0
tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries (including the one
he returned 65 yards for a touchdown) and one pass break up. His three fumble
recoveries ties a SCAC single-game record.
For the season, Hendricks leads the SCAC in sacks (8), tackles for loss
(14.5) and fumbles recovered (3). He is also tied for second in forced fumbles.
The Lynx lead the SCAC in rushing defense, allowing just 64.2 yards per game.
Men's Soccer - Offensive
PATRICK FLOECK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY,
a junior forward from Carrollton, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches
played from Monday, October 1 through Sunday, October 7.
Floeck scored three goals and added an assist this past weekend, leading
the team to a pair of home wins in SCAC play.
Floeck nailed a pair of goals – the team’s opening goals in both periods
– on Friday against Rhodes, hitting the eventual game-winner in the 24th
minute. On Sunday, he hit his third goal of the weekend, as well as adding an
assist. He also set up the eventual game-winner on Sunday, as his pass led
directly to a foul and a penalty kick to put the Tigers up 1-0.
Floeck leads the team with 10 goals and 22 total points on the season,
hitting his second game-winning goal this weekend. He also has become the 10th
player in school history to record 30 or more goals in a career with his score
on Sunday.
Men's Soccer
- Defensive
ADAM BOYER OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a junior sweeper from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches
played from Monday, October 1 through Sunday, October 7.
Boyer
led the 19th-ranked Colonels to a pair of shutout
wins in SCAC play over the weekend, defeating both Millsaps and
Birmingham-Southern.
On Friday against Millsaps, Boyer kept Centre’s defense organized and
allowed just four shots on goal. He also created consistent opportunities on
the offensive end with precise through balls out of the back. Then on Sunday
against Birmingham Southern, Boyer made the game-changing play, scoring
the game-winning goal off a header from a set-piece in the 40th minute.
For the season, Boyer has scored two game-winning goals and tallied two
assists for six total points as a sweeper back.
Women's
Soccer - Offensive
MICHELLE GRAMBEAU OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY,
a sophomore midfielder from Ann Arbor, Mich., has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 1 through Sunday, October 7.
Grambeau scored three goals last weekend to lead Trinity to a pair of
SCAC wins at home over Hendrix and Rhodes. She scored once in a 6-0 win over
Hendrix on Friday night, then added two goals in a key win over
regionally-ranked Rhodes on Sunday. Against Rhodes, Grambeau recorded the first score of the game in 13th
minute, and after the Lynx scored twice in the second half to force overtime,
Grambeau was able to find the back of the net again with just 18 seconds
remaining in the second overtime to win it for the Tigers.
For the season, Grambeau is tied for second on the team with 15
points. She has scored four goals this year – three of which came this weekend. Grambeau
is also tied for the team lead in assists with seven, and Sunday’s game-winner
was her first of the season.
Women's Soccer -
Defensive
KATE ANDERSON OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a junior defender from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the SCAC
Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 1 through Sunday, October 7.
Anderson
earned her first assist of the year Friday night
against Millsaps, which came on the game-winning goal by Allison Terry. More
impressively, Anderson's leadership in the back prevented Millsaps from
taking any shots in the game.
On Sunday, Anderson once again helped prevent any goals from being
scored - this time by Birmingham-Southern’s attack.
On the year, Anderson has helped to solidify the Colonels' defense and
elevate the team’s play. To date, Centre has allowed only six goals in over
1000 minutes of play, posting a goals-against average of 0.50 with seven
shutouts.
Volleyball
CAROLINE KEENER OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a
junior setter from Plano, Texas, and KAITLIN LISTOL OF AUSTIN COLLEGE,
a senior right side from Richardson, Texas, have been named SCAC Volleyball
Co-Players-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 1 through Sunday, October 7.
Keener led the fifth-ranked Tigers to five wins last week, including a
mid-week win over Texas Lutheran and a weekend sweep in SCAC play at Rhodes
College.
Keener averaged over 12 assists per game at the SCAC West-Central
Tournament at Rhodes over the weekend, as well as 3.90 digs and 0.90 blocks per
game to go along with her 1.40 kills per game and .438 hitting percentage.
She tallied 45 or more assists twice over the weekend, reaching 53 in the match
against Southwestern. She has now recorded 45 or more assists eight times this
season. Keener led the Tigers to a .276 hitting percentage for the
entire week, and a .282 clip in conference play.
Keener finished with double-doubles against Birmingham-Southern and
Southwestern this weekend, giving her seven total for the season.
For the season, Keener has totaled 759 assists and 163 digs this season,
which is good for an average of 11.16 assists and 2.40 digs per game. She is
also hitting .326 on the season, averaging 1.31 kills per game.
Listol
led the 16th-ranked ‘Roos
to a four match sweep at the SCAC West/Central Divisional at Rhodes. Listol averaged 5.29 kills per game with a hitting percentage of .468
and also added 3.36 digs and 1.5 blocks per game. Listol had 21 kills
against both Hendrix and Colorado College and had a high of 19 digs against
Hendrix.
For the season, Listol is leading the SCAC in both hitting percentage
(.409) and in kills (5.14 per game) and is fourth in blocks (1.22 per game) and
seventh in service aces (0.51 per game).
