Men's Cross Country
DUSTY KIME OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY,
a senior from Cassville, Mo.,
has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week
for meets run Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13.
Kime
finished seventh at the Great Lakes Pre-Regional at
Calvin College as the DePauw men finished fourth at the event.
Kime's time of 25:11 is just seven seconds off of his personal
best. Kime ran well with the lead pack of several
all-Americans.
Women's
Cross Country
LAUREN REICH
OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY,
a sophomore from Mesa, Ariz., has been selected the SCAC Women's
Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, October 12
and Saturday, October 13.
Reich
finished third at the Great
Lakes Pre-Regional at Calvin College. She covered the 6k course in a
personal best time of 21:57 finishing between Calvin's
all-Americans. Reich's time ranks second on DePauw's all-time
list, and her performance helped her team to a second place finish -
just 19 points behind the No. 2 ranked Calvin team.
Field Hockey - Offensive
MARCY TICKNER OF
SEWANEE-UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a senior
forward from Rockville, Md., has been selected the SCAC Field
Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday, October 8
through Sunday, October
14.
Tickner
made senior day one to remember, scoring the game-tying and then
game-winning goals in Friday’s 3-2 upset win over first-place Centre
College. Tickner’s final goal gave her 20 for her career and
made her one of just four players in SCAC history to total 20+
career goals. For the season, Tickner has seven goals and
four assists for 18 points (tied for fourth in the SCAC).
Field Hockey - Defensive
CLARKIE
CRAWFORD OF SEWANEE-UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH,
a junior goalkeeper from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the
SCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played
Monday, October 8 through Sunday, October 14.
Crawford
had an another
outstanding game as she backstopped the Tigers to a 3-2 upset over
first-place Centre on Friday. Crawford faced 15 shots and had
12 saves. She played a perfect second half, coming up with eight of
her 12 saves in the period while allowing no goals in order to
secure the one goal win for
the Tigers.
Football - Offensive
BLAKE BARMORE OF
TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a 6-3,
213-pound senior quarterback from Friendswood, Texas, has been
selected the SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games
played Saturday, October 13.
Barmore
enjoyed the best game of his career – and one of the top
performances in school history – in a must-win on the road against
DePauw University on Saturday, leading the team to a 43-28 victory.
Barmore finished with a school and SCAC record 518 yards of
total offense in the game, including 476 yards passing – the
fourth-highest total in school history. Barmore completed 22
of 32 passes and threw two touchdowns, and also rushed for 42 yards
and two scores. He accounted for four of the team’s six touchdowns.
For the season, Barmore has completed 118 of 181 (65.2%)
through the air for 1,802 yards and 11 touchdowns. He is averaging
300.3 yards per game passing and holds an efficiency rating of
164.46 on the year. The two rushing touchdowns this week were the
first of the season for the senior quarterback.
Football - Defensive
JONATHAN BROOKS OF MILLSAPS
COLLEGE,
a 5-8, 175-pound junior cornerback from Roxie, Miss., has been selected the SCAC
Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday,
October 13.
Brooks
picked off
two passes and returned a fumble 14 yards for a score to pace a
Millsaps defense that allowed a season-low 125 total yards in a 45-7
win at Sewanee on Saturday. In his first year in a Majors uniform,
Brooks leads the team with four interceptions and is tied
with teammate Marcus Harris with nine passes defended.
Men's Soccer - Offensive
CHRIS BAUMANN OF CENTRE
COLLEGE, a junior center midfielder from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches
played from Monday, October 8 through Sunday, October 14.
Baumann scored a game-winning
goal and had two assists for the 10th-ranked Colonels, leading them to a pair
of SCAC road victories over the weekend against Sewanee and Oglethorpe. On
Friday against Sewanee, Baumann consistently created scoring opportunities with
through balls out of the midfield, and his is efforts resulted in two assists
to help Centre get the 5-0 win. Then on Sunday, Baumann scored the game-winning
goal from a 30-yard bomb just under 20 minutes into the first half. The
Colonels went on to post the 2-0 victory and extend their winning streak to
nine games. For the season, Baumann ranks third on the team with 13 total
points tallying three goals and seven assists (second in the SCAC).
Men's Soccer
- Defensive
JOSEPH FISHER OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a senior outside back from Cullman, Ala., and JOE HOUCHINS OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a senior defender from Austin, Texas, have been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Defensive Co-Players-of-the-Week for matches
played from Monday, October 8 through Sunday, October 14.
Fisher led the 10th-ranked
Colonels to another pair of shutout wins in SCAC play over the weekend,
defeating both Sewanee and Oglethorpe on the road. Fisher and the Colonel
defense extended their shutout streak to four games and have now gone 420
minutes without allowing a goal. On Friday at Sewanee, Fisher scored the
game-winning goal in the 18th minute on a prolific strike from 30 yards out.
For the season, Fisher has scored three goals, including two game-winners, for
six total points as an outside back.
Houchins led a Tiger defense that
recorded two shutouts last weekend, blanking both Colorado College and Austin
College in SCAC play. Houchins and Trinity’s defense held its two opponents to
just eight total shots in the two games, including a stingy total of two shots
to Colorado College on Friday night. Colorado College came into the game
averaging over 21 shots per game (second in the SCAC). Houchins also scored a
goal as a defender on Sunday, opening the second half scoring with an
unassisted goal in the 57th minute. It was the first goal of the season for the
senior back line player.
Women's
Soccer - Offensive
JENNIFER WRAY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY,
a senior midfielder from Abilene, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 8 through Sunday, October 14.
Wray scored the only goal in the
team’s only game of the week, lifting the Tigers to a 1-0 win over Austin
College on Sunday afternoon. Wray hit a 74th minute goal to break a scoreless
tie on the road, tying for the team lead with her seventh goal of the year. It
was also her third game-winning goal of the season, tying her in that category
as well. Trinity is now 21-2 whenever Wray scores a goal, and 30-2-2 in her
career when she scores at least one point. For the season, Wray has seven goals
and five assists, leading the team with 19 total points. She has three
game-winning goals this season, and has nine game-winners in her career.
Women's Soccer -
Defensive
LIZ SPRAGENS OF
SEWANEE-UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a first-year goalkeeper
from Nashville, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC
Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 8 through Sunday, October 14.
Spragens, who had never played goalkeeper before this
weekend, was forced into action after both of the Tigers' keepers
were shelved with severe injuries. With just a week of practice
leading into this weekend's matches. Spragens earned a shutout on Friday
against regionally-ranked Centre - the league's second-highest scoring team.
She then nearly logged another shutout in a tough 1-0 loss to DePauw
on Sunday. Spragens had 22 saves on the weekend - 10 on
Friday and 12 more on Sunday.
Volleyball
SARA BUROS OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a
senior right side from Austin, Texas, and JESSICA PHILLIPS OF AUSTIN COLLEGE,
a sophomore setter from Irving, Texas, have been named SCAC Volleyball
Co-Players-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 8 through Sunday, October 14.
Buros led the fourth-ranked Tigers to a 5-0 record last week,
hitting an impressive .387 and averaging better than three kills and
three digs per game. Buros committed just one error among 62
total attacks, collecting 25 kills for a team-high 3.12 kills per
game. She was also second on the team with 30 digs and a 3.75 dig
per game average this week. In the weekend finale against Colorado
College, Buros tallied a team-high 18 kills to go with 14
assists, committing zero errors in 40 attacks to give her a .450
hitting percentage. It was the eighth double-double of the year for
Buros. For the season, Buros is second on the team
with 210 kills (2.56 per game) and a hitting percentage of .282 in
556 total attacks. She is also second on the team with 44 service
aces and with 313 digs this season, averaging 3.82 per game.
Phillips
put together one of the best
weekends of her career as 14th-ranked Austin College swept DePauw,
Centre, Sewanee, and Southwestern at the SCAC East/West Divisional
#2 at Trinity. Phillips averaged 14.73 assists per game with
a high of 74 against Southwestern - the third highest total in
Austin College program history. She also
had six service aces and averaged
2.64 digs per game, and added seven blocks. For the season,
Phillips leads the SCAC in assists with 1,071 (13.56 per game).
She is on pace to set the new SCAC single-season assists per game
mark - currently held by Ashley Farrimond of Trinity who averaged
13.01 per game in 2002.
