Football - Offensive
TYSON ROY OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a
5-9, 185-pound sophomore running back from
Ventress, La., has been selected the SCAC Football Offensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, November 6. Roy had 254
yards rushing - a season-high in the SCAC this season - and three
touchdowns on 37 carries to lead the Majors to a 28-19 victory over Rhodes
College Saturday in Memphis. With just over a minute left and Millsaps
clinging to a 21-19 lead, Roy busted a 73-yard TD scamper on
4th-and-1 from the Major's own 27-yard line to ice the victory.
For the season, Roy is leading the SCAC in rushing (964 yards),
averaging 120.5 yards per game. He is also tops in all-purpose yards at
163.6 yards per game and has scored nine touchdowns this season (tied for
third in the SCAC).
Football - Defensive
DUSTIN HERTEL OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a 6-2,
215-pound junior defensive end from
Batesville, Ind., has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, November 6. Hertel
finished with a career-high nine tackles including 2.5 for losses of 16
yards, a forced fumble and 1.5 sacks for 14 yards in the Tigers' 30-3
victory at Rose-Hulman. Hertel, who has totaled 41 tackles this
season, has 17.0 tackles for loss - tops in the SCAC. He also has 7.0
sacks, which is tied for third in the conference.
Men's Soccer - Offensive
FRANK MONTELEONE OF OGLETHORPE
UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from Courtland, N.Y., has been selected the
SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
November 1 through Sunday, November 7.
Monteleone had three goals and assisted on a fourth in Saturday's
season-ending 5-1 win against Millsaps. The win clinched a second-place
finish in the SCAC for the Petrels, the best finish for Oglethorpe since
1992. The 12 victories also ties the '92 team's single-season, school-high
win total.
For the season, Monteleone finishes atop the SCAC in scoring with 16
goals and nine assists for 41 total points (2.41 points/game). He is the
first Oglethorpe player to lead the league in scoring since Will Lukow
accomplished the feat in 1992.
Men's Soccer
- Defensive
STAN SIMEK OF CENTRE
COLLEGE, a senior sweeper
back from Millstadt, Ill., and ANDREW WADE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a
senior
defender from Georgetown, Texas, have been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Defensive Co-Players-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, November 1
through Sunday, November 7.
Simek secured the win for Centre in the Colonels' 2-1 defeat of host
Sewanee on Saturday. Simek anchored a defense that gave up just one
goal (an own goal) in the final minutes and scored the game-winner in the
73rd minute off a penalty kick. On the season, Simek registered six
goal and two assists for 14 points.
Wade helped the Tigers to a 2-0 shutout of Southwestern University to
close out the team's third straight unbeaten season. In addition to
holding the Pirates to just two shots on goal, Wade added an assist
on the game's second and final goal. The goal was scored by younger
brother Paul Wade. For the season, Andrew Wade has five goals and
six assists for the Tigers, and is sixth overall in scoring.
Women's
Soccer - Offensive
LAUREN
ANDREWS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY,
a junior defender from Houston, Texas,
has been selected the SCAC
Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
November 1 through Sunday, November 7.
Andrews
led the Tigers to a 5-0 road victory over Southwestern in the final game
of the season, avoiding a possible makeup game the next day and clinching
Trinity's 11th women's soccer conference championship. Andrews
scored two goals in the game, including her third-straight game-winning
goal. Her first goal - the eventual game-winner - came in the 13th minute,
and then she scored again just 2:06 into the second period to push
Trinity's lead to 4-0. For the season, Andrews has scored five
total goals this season - four of which have come in the past two
weekends.
Women's Soccer -
Defensive
STEPHANIE BULL OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior goalkeeper from
Albuquerque, N.M.,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches played from Monday, November 1 through Sunday, November 7. Bull
helped Trinity to its 14th shutout in
16 games this season, with the most recent being a 5-0 shutout on the road
against Southwestern. Bull has recorded 20 saves this season, and
her GAA of 0.14 is among the best in school history. She also has 11.9
shutouts this season.
Volleyball
MISTI WHITE OF SOUTHWESTERN
UNIVERSITY, a junior middle blocker from Allen, Texas, and KAMRI YOUNG OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a
junior outside hitter from Houston, Texas, have been named SCAC Volleyball
Co-Players-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, November 1 through
Sunday, November 7.
White led Southwestern with 107 blocks on the season, recording a
team-best 12 blocks on the weekend, to help the Pirates to a perfect 5-0
record at the second SCAC Cross Divisional. In addition to White’s
defense presence, she led Southwestern with 68 kills (4.86 kills per game)
on 123 attempts with only 11 errors, good for a team-best .463 hitting
percentage. White played in 14 games this weekend. For the season,
White is fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.357) and
eighth in kills per game (3.45). She is also ninth in the SCAC in blocks
per game (0.90 per game).
Young
had an incredible weekend in Trinity's final regular season tournament,
leading the Tigers to a 5-0 record at the SCAC Cross-Divisional. Young
finished the weekend with 5.19 kills per game (83 total kills), 4.62 digs
per game (74 total digs), and a hitting percentage of .496 (83-13-141).
Trinity has now won 72 consecutive SCAC matches - a span of four
consecutive seasons. Against Rose-Hulman on Saturday, Young
finished with a .739 hitting percentage (18-1-23) - the fifth-best
single-match total in school history. For the season, Young has 507
kills (4.65 per game / second in the SCAC), 396 digs (3.63 per game), and
a league-leading .392 hitting percentage. She is only the third player in
school history to record 500 or more kills in a single season.
