Men's Cross Country
JOE TOGNETTI OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from San Francisco, Calif.,
has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for
meets run Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25. Tognetti
won the Texas Little State Championships which marks his first-ever
collegiate win. Tognetti took the lead from teammate John Herlin at
the 2-mile mark and never looked back to lead the Tigers to the team
championship.
Women's
Cross Country
JENNIFER EMO OF RHODES COLLEGE,
a sophomore from Tallahassee, Fla., has been selected the SCAC Women's
Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 24 and
Saturday, September 25. Emo placed 24th out of 357 runners in
leading her team to a seventh place finish out of 38 teams at the
Louisville Classic. Emo's time of 19:01 was a cross country
personal best.
Field Hockey - Offensive
ELIZABETH ERNY OF
RHODES COLLEGE,
a sophomore midfielder from Louisville, Ky., has been selected the
SCAC Field Hockey Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday,
September 20 through Sunday, September 26.
Erny had an outstanding game
on Saturday in Rhodes' 2-1 win at Sewanee. Erny controlled much of
the midfield during the game and scored the first goal with an amazing
effort to put the Lynx ahead for good. With the win, Rhodes sits in second
place in the SCAC with a conference mark of 2-1; 5-3 overall.
Field Hockey - Defensive
CHRISTIN SERENBETZ
OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY,
a senior midfielder from Wilton, Conn., has been selected the SCAC
Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday,
September 20 through Sunday, September 26.
Serenbetz helped the Tigers'
defensive effort that limited Centre to just eight shots and one goal in
the 2-1 double-overtime win over the Colonels. With the win, DePauw
remained undefeated in the SCAC (3-0; 6-2).
Football - Offensive
ROBIN KELNER OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY,
a 5-11, 176-pound junior receiver from San Antonio, Texas, has been
selected the SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played
Saturday, September 25. Kelner caught the game-winning pass against
DePauw this past Saturday - a nine-yard scoring strike on fourth-and-goal
with 10 seconds remaining in the game - that gave Trinity the 29-28
advantage. Kelner finished the game with nine receptions for 104
yards and two scores on the day, and was a key player in the team's
fourth-quarter comeback. Trinity was down 12 points with just 5:32
remaining, but Kelner's four receptions for 58 yards in the final
two offensive possessions - including the clutch touchdown - sparked the
team to victory. For the season, Kelner leads the team with 21
receptions, netting 260 yards and four touchdowns. With his 100-yard day,
Kelner also became just the 18th Trinity player to total 1,000
yards receiving in a career. He currently stands 15th overall in the early
stages of his junior year.
Football - Defensive
DUSTIN ALLEN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY,
a 5-9, 228-pound sophomore defensive lineman from Friendswood,
Texas, has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 25. Allen totaled 11 tackles from his defensive line spot on the
field, helping the team to a 29-28 comeback win over DePauw. Allen also had three tackles for loss (13 yards lost) and two
quarterback sacks for a loss of 10 total yards. Allen's sack on the final play of the game, capped Trinity's
key SCAC win.
For the season, Allen is fourth on the team with 33 tackles.
He leads the team with six tackles for a loss of 34 yards and 3.5
sacks for 27 yards lost.
Men's Soccer - Offensive
CRAIG LIPPINCOTT OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY,
a junior midfielder from Indianapolis, Ind., and JUSTIN SAMPSON OF RHODES
COLLEGE, a senior forward from Marietta, Ga., have been selected
the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Co-Players-of-the-Week for matches played
from Monday, September 20 through Sunday, September 26.
Lippincott scored three goals in Friday's 9-1 win over Millsaps,
and assisted on both goals in Sunday's 2-0 win over Oglethorpe.
For the season, Lippincott has scored four goals (tied for sixth in the
SCAC) and also has four assists (tied for fourth in the SCAC). His 12
points in seven contests places him sixth in the league in points per game
(1.71).
Sampson led the team in shots (6) in Friday's 2-1 win at Centre and
he was credited with both goals in Sunday's 2-1 victory at Sewanee - two
huge SCAC road wins for the Lynx. For the season, Sampson has six
goals (fifth in the SCAC) and is tied for the league lead in assists with
five. His 17 points is good for fifth in the SCAC.
Men's Soccer
- Defensive
EDDIE HO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a
junior defender from Spring Texas.,
has been selected the SCAC Men's
Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September
20 through Sunday, September 26. Ho
helped the team to two shutouts over the
weekend, as well as mixing it up on the offensive end. Ho scored
one goal and one assist in the two games, also holding the opposition to
just four total shots. Against fifth-ranked Stevens, Ho and the
rest of the defense yielded just one shot, and he assisted on the final
goal in the 86th minute. For the season, Ho has four goals (tied
for sixth in the SCAC) and two assists for the top-ranked Tigers, and is
tied for third on the team with 10 total points (tied for eighth in the
SCAC).
Women's
Soccer - Offensive
ASHLEY BERNAL OF ROSE-HULMAN INSTITUTE
OF TECHNOLOGY, a
sophomore sweeper from Columbia, Ill.,
has been selected the SCAC
Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
September 20 through Sunday, September 26. Bernal scored four goals
and added two assists from the sweeper position, helping lift Rose-Hulman
to a perfect 3-0 record last week. Bernal scored her four goals on
just nine shot attempts, including scoring twice in a league win over
Oglethorpe and once against Franklin and Millsaps.
Women's Soccer -
Defensive
DAVIS FEDERSPIEL OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a
sophomore back from Lexington, Ky,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches played from Monday, September 20 through Sunday, September 26.
Federspiel
spearheaded the DePauw defense that allowed its two opponents just one
shot total in two SCAC wins - shutouts over Millsaps (7-0) and Oglethorpe
(2-0).
Volleyball
KAMRI YOUNG OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a
junior outside hitter from Houston, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball
Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 20 through Sunday,
September 26.
Young
had another
brilliant weekend for the Tigers, who swept the opposition at the SCAC West
Divisional in Conway, Arkansas. Young led the team in kills,
hitting percentage, and aces, and finished second in digs. She averaged
4.27 kills and 4.09 digs in the four matches, as well as recording seven
aces. Young had 47 total kills and just nine errors in 103 attacks
for a .369 hitting percentage, and also had 45 total digs. For the season,
Young has 204 kills (4.08/game) and a .338 hitting percentage. She
has also recorded 151 digs (3.02/game, and second on the team) and is
third on the team with 32 total blocks - of which she had five this
weekend.
