RORY FAVER OF
RHODES COLLEGE, a 5-10, 217-pound senior
cornerback from Kingwood, Texas, has been
selected the SCAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played
Saturday, October 16. And yes, that is cornerback, not quarterback. But on
Saturday, he was all running back. Faver, who normally is used on
offense only in goal-line situations, filled in superbly in the banged-up
Lynx offensive backfield. Faver rushed for a career-high 180 yards
on 21 carries, including a 15-yard fourth quarter touchdown, to help the
Lynx preserve the 28-14 conference win at Sewanee. The Lynx offense
controlled the line of scrimmage in the second half and limited the
Sewanee offense to just 14 second-half plays. Rhodes improved to 4-2
overall and 3-1 in the SCAC and retained the Edmund Orgill Trophy for the
second straight year which is awarded to the winner of each year's game.
In the 51 meetings for the Orgill Trophy, Sewanee leads 26-24-1.

BRETT BUELTEL OF ROSE-HULMAN
INSTITTUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,
a 6-4, 205-pound sophomore safety/punter from Huntingburg, Ind., has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
games played Saturday, October 16. Bueltel
snatched a pair of interceptions and booted two
punts inside the 10-yard line to help Rose-Hulman claim a 14-7 win over
Millsaps. Bueltel grabbed two interceptions in a game for the
second time this season and recorded 30 yards in returns. He provided six
tackles (five solo) and added a forced fumble. Serving as the team's
punter, Bueltel booted kicks to the Millsaps three and nine yard
lines to put the Majors in a field position disadvantages. Three of his
four punts landed inside the 20, and Bueltel averaged 35.2 yards
per kick.

in all three goals in Saturday's 3-0 blanking of Maryville (Tenn.)
College. Marsden scored two goals, including the match-winner, and
had one assist. Marsden now has 10 goals on the season (tied for
fourth in the SCAC), 20 in two years and 28 for his career. His assist on
Saturday gives him eight for the season (tied for third in the SCAC), 20
in two years and 26 for his career. Marsden has 28 points scored
this season - good for fourth in the conference.

STAN SIMEK OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a senior sweeper back from Millstadt, Ill., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches played from Monday, October 11 through Sunday, October 17. Simek
was
a major factor in both of Centre’s results over the weekend. Simek
scored both goals in Centre’s 2-1 win over Millikin on Thursday, and then
helped Centre keep the clean sheet against regionally-ranked Dominican on
Saturday in Centre’s 0-0 draw. Simek is tied for the team lead with
five goals (tied for 10th in the SCAC) and is second on the team in
points. Simek, who has played nearly every minute of every game, is
a major reason that Centre has posted six shutouts on the year.

CARLY SHADE OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY,
a senior forward from Westminster, Colo.,
has been selected the SCAC
Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 11 through Sunday, October 17.
Shade
scored three goals over the
weekend, half of the team's total in two key South Region victories over
Washington & Lee and Roanoke in Virginia. Shade put the Tigers
ahead 2-0 in the first half against Washington & Lee with an excellent
28th-minute goal, beating three defenders in the process. On Sunday,
Shade scored consecutive goals to put Trinity ahead 2-1 in the second
half, erasing the team's first deficit of the year. Shade knocked
in a goal in the 78th minute, and then another in the 81st minute - the

JESSICA KOENIG OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a first-year defender from Galveston, Texas,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches played from Monday, October 11 through Sunday, October 17. Koenig
led a stout Tiger defense that allowed
just two shots over the weekend, as well as recording the team's 10th
shutout in 12 games. Koenig marked Washington & Lee's top scorer in
Saturday's game, allowing neither a shot nor a scoring opportunity, and
preserving the 3-0 shutout. On Sunday, Koenig led a defense that
did not allow any offensive possessions on Trinity's defensive side for
the entire second half. For the season, Koenig has been key to a
defense that has allowed two goals this season, which ties for the fewest
in all of Division III.

SARAH BURGER OF CENTRE
COLLEGE, a first-year middle
hitter from Goshen, Ky., has been named SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week
