incredible play in

not allow DePauw to get off a shot in the second half of Sunday's 2-1
double-overtime win.

just seven points and 46 yards rushing (263 total) to a team that averaged
more than 30 points and 140 yards (388 yards/gm) coming into Saturday.
Einhaus recorded all of his sacks in the second half, and now has 9.0
total sacks this season to lead the team. He has also totaled 28 tackles
this season, and his 11.5 tackles for loss rank second on the team.
Men's Soccer - Offensive
MATT BEHAM OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a first-year forward from Katy, Texas, has been selected the
SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 25 through Sunday, October 31.
Beham scored two goals over the weekend, as the Tigers won two SCAC
games to clinch the 2004 SCAC Championship. On Friday, Trinity won its
40th game to set a new NCAA record for consecutive wins with a 3-2 win
over Sewanee, and then clinched its eighth conference title - third
consecutive - with a 4-0 shutout of Centre. In Sunday's game, Beham
scored two goals for the Tigers (39:51 and 62:54) to push the team to the
title-clinching win. For the season, Beham has scored four goals
and two assists in his 17 games played.
Men's Soccer
- Defensive
JONATHAN BASSLER OF OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY, a
senior
goalkeeper from Marietta, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 25
through Sunday, October 31.
Bassler played 170 minutes in goal without giving up a score as
Oglethorpe won two road matches - 1-0 against Rhodes on Friday and 3-1 against
Hendrix on Sunday. Friday's win at Rhodes was the first for Oglethorpe since
joining the conference in 1991.
The only goal scored against the Petrels came in the last 10 minutes against
Hendrix when OU's reserve goalkeeper was in net.
Bassler has made steady progress every year in goal for Oglethorpe. He
had a 5.26 GAA in 2002 (his sophomore year) and cut it in half his junior year
to 2.46. This season, Bassler's GAA stands at 1.38 (sixth in the SCAC).
Women's
Soccer - Offensive
LAUREN ANDREWS OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY,
a junior defender from Houston, Texas,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 25 through
Sunday, October 31.
Andrews was the Defensive
Player-of-the-Week in the SCAC in
Week 1; the first time a soccer
player (man or woman) has earned both an Offensive and a Defensive
Player-of-the-Week honor in the same season.
Andrews
scored two game-winning goals over the SCAC weekend for Trinity,
leading the team to wins over Centre and Sewanee. In Friday's game against
Sewanee, Andrews knocked in the game's only goal - a header off of
a corner kick in the 14th minute. On Sunday afternoon, Andrews
again came up from her defensive spot and ripped a 35-yard shot for a goal
in the 71st minute. Andrews was also a key player on the Tiger
defense which recorded its 12th and 13th shutouts of the year. For the
season, Andrews has three goals for the Tigers, and her
game-winners this weekend were the first of the year for the defender.
Women's Soccer -
Defensive
STACIE BEVERLY OF
RHODES COLLEGE, a senior defender from Lynn Haven, Fla.,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for
matches played from Monday, October 25 through Sunday, October 31.
Beverly
anchored a defense that allowed just two shots on goal all weekend as the
Lynx defeated Oglethorpe 3-0 on Friday and Millsaps 2-1 on Sunday. The
shut-out against Oglethorpe was Rhodes' sixth of the 2004 season, due in
large part to Beverly's work in organizing the Rhodes defense from
her central position. Rhodes now stands at 3-4-1 in the SCAC; 7-7-2
overall. Even more impressive, Beverly helped the Rhodes defense
accomplish this feat while playing in a new defensive formation that the
team had not used until the Oglethorpe game.
Volleyball
LEAH BALLINGER OF CENTRE COLLEGE,
a senior setter from Butler, Ky., and KAMRI YOUNG OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a
junior outside hitter from Houston, Texas, have been named SCAC Volleyball
Co-Players-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 25 through
Sunday, October 31.
Ballinger
finished her senior week at home
with a 5-0 home win streak - matches that the Colonels all swept 3-0. For
the week, Ballinger tallied 179 assists for an average of 11.9 per
game. In the Colonels' upset of Washington and Lee, she had 40 assists,
and in the following match against East Texas Baptist, Ballinger
almost mirrored her previous performance with 30 assists. Her attack broke
out against Thomas More where she had 10 kills on 16 attempts and no
errors. For the week, Ballinger averaged 11.9 assists per game, had
20 kills and only two errors on 63 attempts for an attack percentage of
.287. She also had two service aces. Defensively, Ballinger had 24
digs (1.6 per game) and five block assists. She
was also named co-MVP for the Centre Halloween Bash.
Young
led the Trinity volleyball team to a 3-1 record at the TU National
Invitational over the weekend - a tournament that featured four of
nation's top 10 teams. Young finished with 4.83 kills/game, 3.92
digs/game, and an incredible .442 hitting percentage for the weekend. In
Friday's match against No. 7 Emory, Young had 21 kills and 13 digs,
as well as hitting .500 (21-4-34). Against top-ranked Juniata, Young
did all she could to give the Tigers a chance to win, hitting .417
(19-4-36) with 19 kills and 16 digs to go with four blocks. For the
season, Young is averaging 4.56 kills/game and 3.46 digs/game. She
is also third on the team with 61 blocks, and leads the Tigers with a .376
hitting percentage, recording just 89 errors in 892 attacks (424 kills).
