Men's Basketball
MIKE
MOORE OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a 5-8, 160-pound junior guard from
Elkhart, Ind., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday,
January 14 through Sunday, January 20.
Moore averaged 21.5 points, 5.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0
rebounds per game as the Tigers swept SCAC road games at Colorado
College and Austin College.
Moore, who had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.3 on the weekend,
saved his most impressive performance for Sunday. After catching a
finger in the eye during Friday's 97-63 victory at Colorado College, the
junior guard was a game-time decision on Sunday.
Unfortunately for Austin College, Moore not only played but
scored a career-high 32 points on 10 of 17 shooting from the field,
which included 5 of 7 from three-point range to lead the Tigers to the
86-70 victory.
He knocked down 14 of his 23 shot attempts on the weekend (60.9%),
including 8 of 11 (72.7%) from bonus land, and was a perfect 7 of 7 from
the free-throw line.
For the season, Moore is averaging 16.3 points (fifth in the
SCAC) and leads the SCAC in both assists (6.69 per game) and free-throw
percentage (86.8%). He is also sixth in the league in three-point field
goal percentage (43.0%) and seventh in three-point field goals made
(2.50 per game).
Women's
Basketball
KATIE KULAVIC
OF OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY, a 5-7, junior guard
from Norcorss, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Women's Basketball
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 14 through
Sunday, January 20.
Kulavic led the
Petrels to three wins this past week. In Tuesday's 82-60 non-conference win over Maryville,
she recorded 23 points on 10 of 13 shooting, and added four rebounds
and two assists. And on the road in conference play, Kulavic scored a team-high
22 points on 6 of 11 shooting including a perfect 10 of 10 from the
charity stripe, and added five rebounds, two steals and assist to lead
the Petrels past Millsaps, 74-67. On Sunday, Kulavic filled up the stat sheet
with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal in a 93-82 win
over Hendrix. For the week, Kulavic averaged 19.7 points, 5.0 rebounds
and 2.3 assists per game, and shot 58.8% from the floor (20-34) and an
impressive 90% from the free throw line (18-20). For the season,
Kulavic is averaging 15.3 points (eighth in the SCAC) and 3.06
assists per game (seventh in the SCAC) and continues to lead the
league in field goal percentage at 60.9 percent. She is sixth in the
conference in free-throw percentage (84.6%).
Men's Swimming
JARRETT TATE OF RHODES COLLEGE,,
a first-year swimmer from Decatur, Ga.,
has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, January 14 through Sunday, January 20.
Highlighting the dual
meet meet against Henderson State University on Saturday, Tate
broke his own school record in the 50 free by touching the wall in
only 21.24 seconds.
Men's Diving
RYAN COOK OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a senior from Katy, Texas,
has been selected
the SCAC Men's
Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, January 14 through
Sunday, January 20.
Cook helped the Trinity men to a victory over
Division II
Mesa State and a narrow 149-124 loss to 15th-ranked Division II
Incarnate Word.
Cook won both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions with
NCAA qualifying scores of 309.60 and 340.10.
Women's
Swimming
KATIE DOOGAN OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY,,
a senior from Troy, Mich.,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, January 14 through Sunday, January 20.
Doogan
won the both the
200 IM and the 400 IM with times of 2:12.13 and 4:41.88
respectively and finished third in the 200 back with a time of
2:15.71 at the Washington University Invitational on Friday and
Saturday.
Women's
Diving
HAYLEY EMERICK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year
diver from Portland, Texas,
has been selected
the SCAC Women's
Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, January 14 through
Sunday, January 20.
Emerick helped the Trinity women to victories over Division
II Mesa State and Division II Incarnate Word with a victory in the
1-meter board (293.20) and a second-place finish to teammate Lindsay
Martin in the 3-meter competition (290.00). Both scores were NCAA
qualifying scores. |
