Men's Basketball
MATT
NESTHEIDE OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a 6-0, 170-pound senior guard
from Edgewood, Ky., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, November 26
through Sunday, December 2.
Nestheide averaged 16.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and a
steal in two Colonels' wins last week.
In the 80-67 non-conference win over Berea on Tuesday, Nestheide
scored 18 points, while adding six assists, five rebounds and a steal in
34 minutes of action. Four days later, the senior guard scored 14 points
with four rebounds, three assists and a steal in a 78-64 win over
previously unbeaten DePauw.
In the two games, Nestheide shot 54.5% (12-22) from the field,
including 57.1% (4-7) from the three-point line while making all four
free throw attempts. The senior currently leads the Colonels in scoring
at 14.3 points per game (tied for 13th in the SCAC) through four games.
He is tied for sixth in the league in assists (3.0 per game) and leads
the SCAC in free throw percentage (100.0% - 11 of 11).

Basketball
KATIE KULAVIC OF
OGLETHORPE
UNIVERSITY, a 5-7, junior
guard from Norcross, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Women's Basketball
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, November 26 through
Sunday, December 2.
Kulavic led the Petrels to a 2-0 weekend - extending OU's home
conference winning streak to a program-best nine games.
In Friday's 75-72 win over Birmingham Southern, Kulavic recorded
a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and also added five
assists. She sank 7 of 12 attempts from the floor and was a perfect 3 of
3 from the free-throw line. In Sunday's 96-59 victory over Rhodes, she
tallied 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in just
19 minutes of action.
For the weekend, Kulavic averaged 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.0
assists and 2.0 steals per game while playing just 27 minutes per game.
She shot 56.5% from the floor (13-23), 66.7% from beyond the three-point
line (2-3) and was a perfect 5 of 5 from the free-throw line.
Kulavic is averaging a team-best 16.8 points per game (fifth in
the SCAC) and is 14th in the league in rebounding at 6.4 per game. She
leads the SCAC in field goal percentage at 66.0%. The season is still
early, but Kulavic would be the first guard to lead the league in
field goal percentage since Alyson Welch of Millsaps in 1993-94.
She is also seventh in the SCAC in assists (3.6 per game) and fourth in
free throw percentage (83.3%).
Kulavic
is just 26 points away from becoming the 55th player in SCAC history
to score 1,000 career points.
Men's Swimming
JOHN COOK OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY,
a sophomore from Leawood, Kan., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday, November 26
through Sunday, December 2.
Cook led off DePauw’s 200 Free relay with a 20.89 as the
team ended up going a 1:22.77 at the DePauw Invitational. He then
anchored DePauw’s 400 free relay with a 44.98 as the team finished
with a time of 3:04.16. Both relays were NCAA A and B cuts along
with school pool and meet records. Individually, Cook won
both the 50 free and 100 free, posting a NCAA B cut and lifetime
best time of 45.98 in the latter. In the 200 free he set a new meet
record with a finishing time of 1:44.20. Cook also anchored
both the 200 medley relay with a time of 20.56 and the 400 medley
relay with a time of 45.88.
Men's Diving
RYAN COOK OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a senior from Katy, Texas,
has been selected
the SCAC Men's
Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, November 26
through Sunday, December 2.
Cook finished sixth on the 3-meter board and 11th on the
1-meter board at the 14th Annual Miami University Invitational.
Cook was the only male Division III diver to finish in the top
eight in the 3-meter competition.
Women's
Swimming
MADDISON HAMIL OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY,
a senior from Fort Wayne, Ind.,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, November 26 through Sunday, December 2.
Hamil
won three events at the 11-team DePauw Invitational.
She took first in the 100 Breast (1:07.99) and the 50 free (24.53)
and set a new meet record in taking first in the 100 Free (53.55).
Women's
Diving
LINDSAY MARTIN OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Longview, Texas,
has been selected
the SCAC Women's
Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, November 26
through Sunday, December 2.
Martin finished seventh on the 3-meter and 16th on the
1-meter at the 14th Annual Miami University Invitational. Martin
was the only female D-III diver to make it to the A final out of
both events. |
