Men's Basketball
KOLA ALADE
OF AUSTIN
COLLEGE, a 6-3, 180-pound sophomore guard from Plano, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Wednesday,
January 2 through Sunday, January 6.
Alade
helped the ’Roos get off to a 2-0 start
in 2008 by averaging 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.5
steals per game while shooting 56 percent from the field as the ’Roos
beat the University of Dallas and Colorado College.
The win over Colorado College was the first-ever SCAC men's basketball
victory for the 'Roos - who joined the conference in 2006 and went 0-14
in league play that season.
Alade reached 20
points for the sixth time this season when he knocked down 7 of 10
attempts to score 20 in a 63-48 win over Dallas on Thursday. He had a
stat-sheet stuffing performance of 16 points, seven assists and six
rebounds in Saturday's historic 63-56 win over Colorado College.
For the season, Alade is averaging 17.5 points (fourth in the SCAC)
and 4.2 rebounds per game and is shooting 44.4 percent from the field
and 77.1 percent from the free-throw line (tied for ninth in the SCAC).
He is also averaging 2.55 assists (tied for 10th in the SCAC).

MEGHAN
SCHOLBE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a 5-9, senior forward
from Centennial, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Women's Basketball
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Wednesday, January 2 through
Sunday, January 6.
Scholbe led the Tigers to two road victories in SCAC play,
beating both Hendrix and Millsaps over the weekend.
Scholbe averaged 18.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in the two games,
hitting 13 of 21 (61.9%) from the field and 10 of 12 (83.3%) from the
free throw line. She also had five assists and six steals over the
weekend, and averaged 30.0 minutes per game.
Additionally, Scholbe became the 49th player in SCAC history to
record 500 or more rebounds in a career, finishing the weekend with a
total of 501. She is the 13th player in Trinity history to reach the
milestone.
For the season, Scholbe is second on the team with 14.6 points
per game (eighth in the SCAC), but leads the team with 9.6 rebounds per
game (third in the SCAC) and 31 steals (2.82 per game - fifth in the
SCAC). She is fifth in the league in field goal percentage at 56.6%
(56-99) and ninth in free-throw percentage at 80.0% (44-55) - both
team-high percentages.
