Men's Basketball
MATT NESTHEIDE OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a 6-0, 170-pound junior guard from Edgewood, Ky., has been selected the SCAC Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 1 through Sunday, January 7.

Nestheide led Centre to two SCAC road victories last week, averaging 26.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in the two games. In the Colonels' 76-57 win over Oglethorpe, Nestheide scored a game-high 26 points with three rebounds, three steals and two assists. Two days later in an 80-68 win over Sewanee, he scored a season-high 27 points with three rebounds, three assists and a steal. Nestheide had one of his best shooing weekends of the year, making 16 of his 24 attempts (66.7%) from the floor, including eight of 14 (57.1%) from beyond the three-point line and 13 of 17 (76.5%) from the charity stripe. The two games were his third and fourth 20+ efforts of the year and his 27 points were only two points shy of his career-high of 29, which he set last year. Currently, Nestheide leads Centre averaging 16.6 points (sixth in the SCAC), 3.9 assists (second in the SCAC) and 1.4 steals per game (13th in the SCAC).


Women's Basketball
BONNIE HICKS OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a 6-0 senior forward from Shreveport, La., has been selected the SCAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 1 through Sunday, January 7.

Hendrix went 3-0 last week, including the team's first win over Trinity in 11 tries in Friday's 67-64 victory over the Tigers. The Warriors have won their last 10 games and are 13-1 overall - the team's best start since joining the SCAC in 1992-93. Hicks led all scorers in all three of the Warriors' games this week, averaging 25.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game this week. She had 30 against Ozarks on Tuesday and followed that with 25 points against Trinity on Friday. Hicks ended her week with 20 points against Southwestern, a 65-62 victory for the Warriors. For the week, Hicks sank 30 of 51 (58.8%) shots from the floor and 14 of 16 (87.5%) from the free throw line and also added three assists and two blocks. For the season, Hicks is averaging 19.0 points (second in the SCAC) and 6.0 rebounds per game (15th in the SCAC) and is fourth in the league in field goal percentage (59.5%) and seventh in free throw percentage (80.0%).
