Men's
Basketball
EDRICK MONTGOMERY OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a 6-6 junior forward from
Pearl, Miss., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 15
through Sunday, January 21.
Montgomery
chipped in two solid games
this past weekend for the Majors en route to the team's seventh win
in eight games and a 6-1 conference start with road victories over
Austin College and Hendrix College. Montgomery posted his
third double-double of the year in Friday night’s 72-63 win at
Austin College, going 9 of 15 from the floor for 25 points and 12
rebounds. He followed that up with a 17-point, nine-rebound
performance on Sunday to top Hendrix College 78-73. For the weekend,
Montgomery averaged 21.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks
and 2.0 steals per game. He made 53.8% of his attempts from the
field (14-26).
For the season, Montgomery is leading the SCAC in scoring,
averaging 17.5 points per game. He is second in the league in
rebounding (8.9 per game), eighth in steals (1.65 per game), third
in blocks (1.00 per game) and fourth in field goal percentage
(57.0%).
Women's
Basketball
KATY WILLIAMS OF AUSTIN COLLEGE,
a 5-10 first-year forward from Sulphur Springs, Texas, has been selected the SCAC
Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from
Monday, January 15 through Sunday, January 21.
Williams
carried the ’Roos to a pair of
SCAC wins over Millsaps and Rhodes over the weekend, scoring 17
points and grabbing nine boards in an 85-59 win against the Majors
and following that up with career highs of 26 points and 16 boards
in the ’Roos 57-52 win over Rhodes. For the week, Williams
averaged 21.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game and made 19 of 27
shots from the field (70.4%). She also came up with three steals and
dished out four assists.
For the season, Williams is averaging 14.3 points (seventh in the SCAC) and
8.9 rebounds per game (second in the SCAC). She is also second in the league in
field goal
percentage (59.3%).
Men's Swimming
EVAN O'DEA OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a senior from Bloomington, Ind.,
has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, January 15 through Sunday, January 21.
O'Dea
signaled his intent to have a great conference meet
in February by winning the 500 freestyle (4:56.86) and the 200
freestyle (1:47.86) at this weekend's Tiger Invitational. O'Dea
was also runner-up in the 100 freestyle and was a member of
three winning Trinity relays during the course of the meet.
Men's Diving
DUSTIN
SCHULTEN
OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a senior from Louisville,
Ky., has been selected the SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week for meets
the week of Monday, January 15 through Sunday, January 21.
Schulten
won this past weekend on the
1-meter board, scoring 286.88 to meet the national qualifying
standard for the fourth consecutive year. Schulten, who was
studying abroad all of the first semester, helped his Centre team
defeat Sewanee in the pool for the first time since 1994.
Women's
Swimming
MARIA LOPEZ
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year
swimmer
from Mexico City, Mexico,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, January 15 through Sunday, January 21.
Lopez
won four
individual events at this past weekend's Tiger Invitational.
Lopez placed first in the 200 IM (2:15.59), the 400 IM
(4:43.22), the 200 butterfly (2:14.53) and the 1,000 free
(11:04.73).
Women's
Diving
LAUREN WALSTAD OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from
Katy, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Diver-of-the-Week
for meets the week of Monday, January 15 through Sunday, January 21.
Walstad
won
both the 1- and 3-meter diving events at the Tiger Invitational in
San Antonio on January 19th and 20th. Walstad set new Trinity
and SCAC records on Friday while winning the 11-dive, 3-meter
competition with a 491.15 point total. She captured the 1-meter
event with 406.15 points on Saturday afternoon to finish off her
double win.
