Men's
Basketball
ANDREW TULOWITZKY OF
OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY, a 5-11, 175-pound senior guard from
Douglasville, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 22
through Sunday, January 28.
Tulowitzky averaged
25.0 points per game in OU's two SCAC games on 15 of 28 shooting
(53.6%), which included 8 of 14 (57.1%) from three-point range. He
also sank 12 of 13 from the free throw line during the weekend as
the Petrels swept Southwestern and Trinity for the first time on the
road since Jan. 23 and 25 of 1998. Tulowitzky had a
career-high 36 points in Friday's overtime win against Southwestern,
scoring 12 points in the final three minutes and hitting the
game-tying 3-pointer with 12 seconds remaining to send the game into
overtime. He also scored the 1,000th point of his career in the
game.

For the season, Tulowitzky is third in the SCAC in scoring,
averaging 17.3 points per game. In addition, he is eighth in field goal percentage (53.8%),
second in three-point in field goal percentage (51.5%), tied for
eighth in assists (3.0 per game), 11th in steals (1.5 per game) and
leads the league in free throw percentage (88.6%).
Women's
Basketball
KRISTA PRATO MATTHEWS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a 6-0
sophomore post from Davis, Calif., has been selected the SCAC
Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday,
January 22 through Sunday, January 28.
Prato Matthews averaged a double-double over the weekend,
leading TU to a pair of SCAC victories over Sewanee and Oglethorpe.
Following Friday's 78-55 win over Sewanee, Trinity snapped
Oglethorpe's 12-game winning streak with a 67-62 victory on Saturday
night, and Prato Matthews averaged 13.5 points and 11.0
rebounds in the two wins. She hit 12 of 20 (60%) from the floor, and
recorded four steals to go with seven blocked shots. Friday,
Prato Matthews finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, hitting
6 of 9 field goals and recording four blocks. In the win over the
Petrels, she scored 16 points and grabbed 10 boards, hitting 6 of 11
from the floor and blocking three more shots. For the season,
Prato Matthews leads the team in rebounds, blocks, and field
goal percentage, and is also second on the team in scoring. She
averages 10.2 points (17th in the SCAC) and 8.8 rebounds (second in
the SCAC) per game, connecting on 43.9% (72-164) of her field goals
(15th in the SCAC), and recording 34 blocked shots (second in the
SCAC).
Men's Swimming
JOHN COOK OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY,
a first-year swimmer from Leawood, Kan., has been selected the
SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday,
January 22 through Sunday, January 28.
Cook produced in season best times to lead DePauw to an
exciting six point win against Chicago. Cook posted DePauw’s
first win of the meet when we went a 1:45.38 in the 200 free. Later
in the meet he swam a 48.38 to take second to DePauw’s Rob Alexander
in the 100 free. And with the meet on the line, Cook led off
the 200 free relay with a 22.02. Just three days prior in a meet
against Rose Hulman, Cook posted a 5:00.24 in the 500 free.
Men's Diving
DANE
COOPER OF SEWANEE: UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a senior from
Cookeville, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, January 22 through Sunday, January 28.
Cooper, for the second week in a row, posted NCAA
provisional qualifying scores on the 1-meter board - scoring 287.7
points in the six-dive format. Cooper also won the 3-meter
event in the Rhodes/LaGrange dual meet on Feb. 27.
Women's
Swimming
AMANDA STIER OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Springsboro, Ohio, has been
selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the
week of Monday, January 22 through Sunday, January 28.
Stier set new pool records at Rose Hulman in the both the
1650 free (18:25.70) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.36).
