CHRIS SANDERS OF
MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a
6-4, sophomore
guard from Brandon, Miss., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 5
through Sunday, February 11.
Sanders
was
undoubtedly the team's most valuable player in this weekend’s conference
road sweep at Oglethorpe and Sewanee, averaging 17.5 points, 6.0
rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
Sanders made the hustle plays, picked up key offensive rebounds
and was the catalyst that sent the Majors on several scoring runs.
Sanders shot a combined 73.7% (14-of-19) from the floor,
including a blistering 70.0% from beyond the arc (7-for-10). The
sophomore poured in a game and career-high 20 points in Friday’s
come-from-behind win at Oglethorpe.
For the season, Sanders is averaging 5.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per
game, and is hitting 42.3% (47-111) of his attempts from the field,
including 32.6% (15-46) from beyond the arc.

KATIE
KULAVIC OF OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY, a
5-7 sophomore guard from Norcross, Ga., has been selected the SCAC
Women's Basketball
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 5 through
Sunday, February 11. It is the second consecutive week she has won
the award.
Kulavic had another outstanding week as the Petrels finished
the 2006-07 season undefeated at home.
In Friday's 87-67 win over Millsaps, Kulavic scored 17 points
on 8 of 11 shooting, and added seven assists and four steals in just
20 minutes of action. Sunday afternoon, Kulavic tallied a
game-high 26 points, six rebounds and five steals to lead Oglethorpe
to a 79-67 win over Rhodes.
For the weekend, the sophomore averaged 21.5 points, 5.5 assists,
4.5 steals and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 56.7% from the
floor.
For the season, Kulvaic is seventh in the league in scoring
(14.6 points per game) and is also third in assists (4.17 per game)
and fourth in steals (2.43 per game). She is shooting 51.5% (fifth
in the SCAC) from the field and 81.7% (third in the SCAC) from the
free-throw line.
