Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For
matches played Monday, Sept. 29th through Sunday, Oct. 5th)
TYRONE PETRAKIS OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY,
a senior midfielder from Albuquerque, N.M. and MIKE HARRIS OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Columbus, Ohio have been selected as
the SCAC Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Players-of-the-Week for matches played from
Monday, September 29 through Sunday, October 5.
Petrakis
had two goals and an
assist to lead the Tigers to two SCAC victories over Austin College and Colorado
College over the weekend.
Petrakis
had a goal and an assist in Friday’s 5-1 win over Austin College, with the
assist coming on the eventual game-winning goal. On Sunday, with under two
minutes left in a scoreless game, Petrakis got in behind the defense for
a chance at a game-winning goal. He drew a foul in the penalty area, then
nailed the PK for the 1-0 win and a weekend sweep.
On the season, Petrakis has scored three goals and four assists and is
tied for fourth on the team with 10 total points. His game-winning goal on
Sunday was his second of the season.
Harris
led the Tigers of DePauw over the weekend with two game winning goals in as many
games. Harris was the lone goal scorer in the 1-0 win against Millsaps on
Friday night in Jackson, Mississippi.
Sunday afternoon Harris buried the game winner against
Birmingham-Southern just over two minutes into overtime securing the victory for
DePauw.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Senior
forward Anthony Amaya of Millsaps
made good on both of his penalty kick attempts in a thrilling, 2-1 overtime win
against Centre College to help the Majors snap a 10-match losing streak to the
Colonels dating back to 1996. Senior midfielder Jarrett Carpenter of Rhodes
scored two goals including the game winner in the victory over Hendrix Saturday
afternoon. Junior forward Richard Hinton of Centre recorded one goal and
two assists over the weekend for the Colonels. Senior forward Preston Hollis
of Southwestern tallied two goals over the weekend as the Pirates split
matches at home against Austin College and Colorado College respectively.
Austin College, Collorado College, Hendrix, Oglethorpe
and Sewanee did not nominate anyone for the award.

Defensive Player-of-the-Week

EDWARD CARTEE OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY,
a senior defender from Oak Ridge N.C., has been selected as the SCAC Men's
Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 29
through Sunday, October 5.
Cartee
led a defense that
gave up just one goal in two SCAC games over the weekend, remaining unbeaten on
the season.
Cartee
and the Tiger defense gave up 19 total shots on the weekend, but only seven of
those were on goal. With his leadership, the team also held Colorado College to
a shutout – coming against a team that came into the game averaging 4.56
goals/game on the year, and had only been shut out once.
For the season,
Cartee and the defense have yielded just nine goals in 10 games, with
Sunday’s shutout being the team’s second of the season.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Junior
goalkeeper Ted Jacobi of DePauw
recorded six saves and only allowed one goal in both of the Tiger’s wins over
the weekend. Senior goalkeeper Alex Margolin of Rhodes was perfect
between the posts this weekend in the 68 minutes he played against Hendrix in
the Lynx’s 4-0 win Saturday. Junior goalkeeper Brian Engle of Colorado
College stopped 11 of 13 shots on goal to lead the Tigers to a split in two
games in Texas. Junior defender Andy Burke of Centre was a bright spot in
the Centre defense over the weekend as he played his role well and consistently
shut down his opponents. Senior defender Kevin Jordan of Southwestern
showed his versatility over the weekend in moving between back line and
defensive midfield positions, solidifying the Pirates' protection of their goal
and clogging up the middle against Austin College on Sunday. Junior
goalkeeper Michael Hadjisimos of Oglethorpe played brilliantly Saturday in a
0-0 tie against Sewnaee with a couple of big time saves keeping the Petrels in
the match. Austin College, Hendrix, Millsaps and Sewanee
did not nominate anyone for the award.
WEEK 5
SCAC Men's
Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For
matches played Monday, Sept. 22nd through Sunday, Sept. 28th)
TREVOR COBB OF COLORADO
COLLEGE, a
junior forward from Corrales, N.M., has been selected as the SCAC Men's Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 22
through Sunday, September 28.
Cobb
set up the
game-winning goal in Friday's 5-1 victory over Birmingham-Southern College and
scored the game winner against Millsaps College. He has been involved of six of
CC’s seven game winners, scoring four and setting up two others.
Cobb
had the first two assists against BSC and a goal and an assist against Millsaps,
giving him five multi-point games this season and three in a row. He now has
four games with a goal and an assist.
Cobb
leads the team with six assists and 16 points, and is tied for second with five
goals.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
First-year midfielder Colin Thompson of Hendrix
scored the Warriors’ game-winning goal for the teams first SCAC win of the
season at Oglethorpe on Sunday. Senior midfielder Jarrett Carpenter of Rhodes
had the game wining goal against Oglethorpe and also the insurance PK against
Sewanee. First-year forward Morgan Knobel of Southwestern scored his
first career goal in the 89th minute of his opening game of the season.
Senior midfielder of Centre scored two goals in a 5-1 victory over Hanover
College last week. Junior forward Ben Grossman of Trinity scored the
game-winning goal for the third straight game on Sunday, leading Trinity to a
3-1 win over Christopher Newport University. First-year midfielder Chris
Stein of Austin College recorded four points over the past weekend including
his first career collegiate goal which proved to be a game winner on Sunday
against BSC. DePauw, Millsaps, Oglethorpe and Sewanee
did not nominate anyone for the award.

Defensive Player-of-the-Week

BEN BEADLE-RYBY OF
COLORADO COLLEGE,
a senior defensive midfielder from Loveland Colo., has been selected as the SCAC
Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
September 22 through Sunday, September 28.
Beadle-Ryby,
CC's team
captain, led the defensive effort that allowed just one goal in two games and
posted the team's fifth shutout of the season. The Tigers allowed only 13 total
shots and eight shots on goal for the weekend. The CC defense has allowed four
or fewer shots on goal in six of eight games this season and the Tigers have not
been outshot this season.
Beadle-Ryby
scored the game-winning goal in Friday's victory over Birmingham-Southern, the
third game winner of his career.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Junior
Nate Noel and Senior Matt Dickinson of Austin College
combined for the shutout in Austin’s first SCAC victory on Sunday. In the Roos
1-0 shutout, both Noel and Dickinson combined for three saves each as the Roos
recorded their third shutout of the season. Junior goalkeeper Jon Moore of
Hendrix denied a penalty kick in the 40th minute which would have given the
Stormy Petrels a 1-0 lead heading into the break. Moore’s momentum stopper
helped the Warriors to their first SCAC victory of the season. Moore has
collected 12 saves in 146 minutes of action this year. Senior defender Kevin
Jordan of Southwestern played an important role in the backfield for the
Pirates of the past week. Junior defender Matt Ladwig of Centre had a
standout performance in the Colonels defense in a 5-1 win against Hanover
dominating 50-50 balls and provided great leadership. Junior defender Joey
Madere of Rhodes was a large factor in the Lynx’s two conference victories
this past weekend for a defense that only allowed one goal in two games.
Senior defender Michael Robertson of Trinity led the Tigers defense in a 3-1
win over Christopher Newport University on Sunday, improving Trinity to 8-0 on
the season. DePauw, Millsaps, Oglethorpe and Sewanee
did not nominate anyone for the award.
WEEK 4

Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For
matches played Monday, Sept. 15th through Sunday, Sept. 21st)
BEN GROSSMAN OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY,
a junior forward from San Diego, Calif., and AARON HYATT OF MILLSAPS
COLLEGE a junior midfielder from Metairie, La., have been selected as
the SCAC Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Players-of-the-Week for matches played from
Monday, September 15 through Sunday, September 21.
Grossman
had his best career weekend, leading second-ranked Trinity to a pair of
conference wins to open defense of its SCAC Championship.
Grossman
scored four goals and one assist in wins over Rhodes and Hendrix this past
weekend, totaling a team-best nine points. Additionally, Grossman scored
the game-winning goals in both games, as well as scoring consecutive goals in
both games.
Grossman
tallied his second and third career multi-goal games on the weekend, with the
previous coming during the 2007 season. For the season, Grossman has
seven goals and two assists, leading the teams in goals (7) and points (16). Grossman’s
two game-winners are also tops on the team this season.
Hyatt
entered the weekend with just one goal, but exited with seven after back-to-back
hat-tricks in a 10-1 win over Huntingdon and a 6-0 win over Rust. Hyatt
netted the game-winner in both matches, scoring in the 10th minute to defeat the
Hawks and the 9th to defeat the Bearcats.
For the season,
Hyatt is leading the team in shots (26), points (16) and goals (seven).
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Senior
midfielder David Lozano of Southwestern
scored a hat-trick in this weekends 8-2 win over Rhodes. Junior striker
Richard Hinton of Centre opened conference play with two game winning goals
in two games en route to a pair of victories over Oglethorpe and Sewanee.
Freshman midfielder Chris Stein of Austin College came off the bench and was
active all night on the flank and gave the UTD defense trouble in what was an
unproductive offensive outing for the Roos. DePauw, Hendrix,
Oglethorpe, Rhodes and Sewanee did not nominate anyone for the
award. Colorado
College did
not play this past week.

Defensive Player-of-the-Week
(For matches
played Monday, Sept. 15th through Sunday, Sept. 21st)
ADAM BOYER OF CENTRE
COLLEGE, a
senior defensive midfielder from Louisville Ky., and ALAN LLOBET OF
TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior defender from Missouri, Texas, have been
selected as the SCAC Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Players-of-the-Week for matches
played from Monday, September 15 through Sunday, September 21.
Boyer
continues to be the standout
player in the tough Colonel defensive unit that opened SCAC play with a pair of
home victories over the weekend. On Friday against Oglethorpe, Boyer kept
the defense organized as they shutout the Stormy Petrels allowing only four
total shots to Centre’s 15.
Then on Sunday against Sewanee, the Colonels allowed just five shots to their 16
and Boyer had the assist on the second goal en route to a 3-1 win.
For the season, Boyer has captained the defense that is tied for first in
total shutouts and ranked third in goals allowed and goals against average.
Boyer also leads the team with 10 points, tallying four goals and two
assists on the season.
Llobet
led a Tiger defense that gave up just one goal in two SCAC games over the
weekend, leading the team to wins over Rhodes and Hendrix.
Llobet
also scored a goal and tallied one assist over the weekend – including the
weekend’s first goal against Rhodes to give Trinity an early 1-0 lead.
Llobet
has two goals and one assist this season, and Sunday marked the defense’s first
shutout of the young season. The defense has also given up just 27 shots on goal
in seven games.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Junior
defender Brandon Mong of Millsaps
netted three goals over the weekend in two Millsaps wins after coming up from
his defender position. Mong and a trio of defenders surrendered just eight total
shots (three on net) and gave up only one goal while scoring 16. Senior
defender Kevin O’Neil of Southwestern played all 90 minutes in both matches
and preserved a shutout against Hendrix has continued to guide several newcomer
defenders on the Pirate squad while guiding the team through its second
consecutive shutout. Junior defender Grant Gibson of Austin College was
left to handle UT-D’s Division I transfer of the right flank and held him to no
goals and no assists on the night.
DePauw,
Hendrix, Oglethorpe, Rhodes and Sewanee did not
nominate anyone for the award.
Colorado College
did not play this past week.
WEEK 3

Offensive Player-of-the-Week

BRENDAN DOUGLAS OF COLORADO COLLEGE,
a junior forward from Portland, Ore., has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 8 through
Sunday, September 14.
Douglas
recorded his first career hat trick and the
game-winning goal in Colorado's 11-0 victory over
Cornell College.
Douglas
struck three times in a span of 6:23 during the first half.
Against undefeated RPI,
Douglas
set up Trevor Cobb's game-winner early in the first half and notched his fourth
goal of the weekend late in CC's 3-0 victory over the Engineers.
Douglas had
back-to-back multi-point games for the first time in his career.

performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward
Amel Komic of Oglethorpe
scored two goals against Spring Hill in a 5-1 win and scored the 1st goal
against Miss College in a 2-2 Double OT game. Senior midfielder Adam Boyer of
Centre had a brilliant week’s performance for the Colonels scoring three
goals in three games. Junior forward Joseph DeCosta of Trinity scored the
first of Trinity’s three goals against Texas Lutheran, but his goal kept the
Tigers from facing a deficit at halftime. Senior midfielder David Lozano of
Southwestern scored the game-winning goal for the Pirates against Fontbonne,
bringing home Southwestern's first win of the season and snapping a five-game
losing streak. Senior midfielder Patrick Deveau of Rhodes had an assist
against Maryville, and a goal against Webster. He was vital part of both
games playing passes forward and also helping defensively. Junior
midfielder/back Brian Lawless of DePauw
scored the Tigers' lone goal in 2-1 loss
to seventh-ranked Ohio Wesleyan.
Hendrix,
Millsaps and Sewanee did not nominate anyone for the award.
Austin
did not play this past week.

JIMMER COMERFORD OF COLORADO COLLEGE,
a senior defender from Grand Junction Colo., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 8
through Sunday, September 14.
Colorado
College
did not allow a goal in two games while posting its third and fourth shutouts of
the season.
The Tigers held Cornell without a shot on goal and allowed just three by
undefeated RPI.
Comerford picked up his first assist of the season against Cornell.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Junior defensive
midfielder Chris Allen of Centre
played dominating defense for all 270 minutes of the Colonel’s three games last
week. The 6’5 defender was the superior ball winner throughout each contest,
with his toughness raising the level of his teammates. Junior defender Alan
Llobet of Trinity scored the eventual game-winning goal and led a stingy
defense that earned a 3-1 win over Texas Lutheran on Thursday night. Senior
defender Kevin O’Neil of Southwestern, who has acted as a leader for the
Pirates among several newcomers in the back, took advantage of several
opportunities over the weekend to move forward and create attacks. Junior
defender Joey Madere of Rhodes contributed to the shutout of Maryville, and
was also a large influence on the game against Webster. He was great in the
air, and strong coming forward. Junior goalkeeper Michael Hadjisimos of
Oglethorpe only gave up 1 goal through all weekend (2 pk’s in the
Mississippi College game). He led the team through his communication and
dominating his GK box with ten big saves. DePauw, Hendrix,
Millsaps and Sewanee did not nominate anyone for the award.
Austin

Offensive Player-of-the-Week

NOE CASANOVA OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY,
a senior midfielder from Kingwood, Texas has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 1 through
Sunday, September 7.
Casanova led Trinity to two wins in its home openers over the weekend,
defeating Hardin-Simmons 4-1 on Friday, and winning 3-1 over UT-Dallas on Sunday
evening.
Casanova
finished with four assists over the weekend, including assists on all three team
goals against UT-Dallas. In addition to the four assists, he set up countless
other scoring opportunities for the team this weekend.
For the season,
Casanova is tied for first on the team with seven points, tallying one goal
and five assists on the year. No other Tiger player has more than one assist so
far this season.

Junior forward
Alex Dawson of Austin College
scored the game winner in Austin's win over Concordia on Saturday in the 3rd
minute. On Sunday Alex was one of the threats in Austin's 2-1 loss to Texas
Lutheran. Senior forward Logan Boccard of Colorado College factored in on
all three goals against Cal Tech. He set up Travis Cobb’s game-winner, added an
insurance goal late in the first half, then assisted on brother Travis Boccard’s
first career goal with five seconds remaining in the game. Freshman
midfielder Topny Distler of Centre scored the game winning goal in the 70th
minute against Illinois Wesleyan. Distler won control of a loose ball near the
top of the 18, dribbled to create space, and sent a powerful shot into the near
side upper 90. It is the freshman’s 2nd game winning goal in Centre’s first 4
games. Junior midfielder Colin Thompson of Millsaps picked up a pair of
assists and his first goal of the year this weekend in helping Millsaps to a
non-conference split at home. In Friday’s 6-0 win over Louisiana College,
Thompson recorded two assists, while on Sunday he had the game equalizer in the
78th minute before MS College followed with the game-winner. For the season,
Thompson is tied for second on the team in total points. Senior forward Matt
Averill of Rhodes scored the 1st and also assisted the 2nd goal to help
bring Rhodes level against Williams Baptist College. Matt’s ability to create
from the outside midfield position was key factor in Rhodes being able to come
from behind against WBC. Senior forward Josh Spencer of Southwestern
scored both goals for Southwestern over the weekend, both times slipped through
defenders to slot shots past the goalie into the corner. DePauw,
Hendrix, Oglethorpe and Sewanee did not nominate anyone for
the award.

Defensive Player-of-the-Week

played Monday, Sept. 1st through Sunday, Sept. 7th)
MICHAEL ROBERTSON OF
TRINITY UNIVERSITY,
a senior defender from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's
Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 1
through Sunday, September 7.
Robertson led a Tiger defense that allowed just two goals on 20 total
shots over the weekend, securing two home wins for Trinity.
Robertson
and the defense consistently
turned away scoring chances with strong challenges both in the air and on the
ground.
For the season, Robertson and the defense have allowed just five goals in
four games this season.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Junior defender Raif
Smith of Austin College
was a constant in the back line all weekend, helping the roos to its second
shutout of the season. Raif has played every minute thus this season for the 2-1
Roos. Senior sweeper Adam Boyer of Centre anchored the Centre defense
that allowed only 1 goal in 2 games in the 19th annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic
hosted at Centre College. On Friday against Letourneau University, Boyer and
the defense limited the Yellow Jackets to only four shots on goal. Then on
Saturday against Illinois Wesleyan, Boyer impacted the game on the offensive end
as well. Adam’s dynamic long balls and runs out of the back created consistent
scoring opportunities for Colonels, and he connected on a header from a set
piece to give Centre the early 1-0 lead. Boyer and the defense shutout the
Titans and limited them to only 1 shot on goal the entire game. Freshman
defender Colin McCulloch of Southwestern ended up with a lot of playing time
this weekend and helped orchestrate the mostly-freshman defensive line for us.
He was solid in the air and had great individual defensive skills. Sophomore
center back Brett Simek of Rhodes was able to score a goal and also add an
assist from the Center Back position. Brett was able to insure the victory
offensively and also more importantly defensively. He was able to help organize
the backs and help Rhodes keep a clean sheet in the second half against Williams
Baptist College.
Colorado College,
DePauw, Hendrix, Millsaps, Oglethorpe and Sewanee
did not nominate anyone for the award.
WEEK 1
SCAC Men's

Offensive Player-of-the-Week
(For
matches played Friday, Aug. 29nd through Sunday, Aug. 31st)
MATT LIGHTFOOT OF
SEWANEE-THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH,
a freshman forward from Germantown, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Men's
Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 29
through Sunday, August 31.
Lightfoot scored one of Sewanee's goals in the 3-1 Tiger comeback win over
#6 Washington University on Friday night and then his first half goal on Sunday
would be enough to secure the 1-0 shutout for the Tigers on Sunday versus
Westminster (Mo.).
Finding the back
of the net twice over the weekend puts Lightfoot in a tie for second in
the conference in goals scored and was also a huge part in the Tigers first 2-0
start since 2005.

outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward
Trevor Cobb of Colorado College
scored CC’s first goal and set up Chris Ellis’s game-winner on Friday at St.
Olaf College. He scored the game-winning goal on Sunday against Ripon College.
Cobb led the Tigers with 11 total shots during the two matches, including six on
goal. Freshman forward Ben Van Nevel of Centre was the most consistent
offensive threat for the Colonels in their pair of road victories over the
weekend. On Friday against Muskingum University, Ben connected on a long-range
power header, sending the ball from the top of the 18 past the keeper to give
Centre its second goal on the day. Seniore midfielder Scott Devault of
Oglethorpe had a goal and two assists in the 4-1 win over Guilford. He
also made lots of penetrating runs to create numerous more scoring
opportunities. Junior midfielder Will Brown of Hendrix scored the
game-winning goal off a penalty kick inside the box two minutes into the second
overtime to defeat Louisiana College in the Warriors’ home opener on Saturday.
Junior midfielder Drew Dews Jr. of Millsaps picked up a pair of goals,
including the game-winner on Saturday to defeat Fontbonne 4-1, en route to a
weekend split for the Majors in their first action of the season. Dews has
already matched his goal total from a year ago in just two games. Freshman
forward Luis Castillo of Austin College gave the ‘Roos a season opening
victory in a 1-0 defeat of the University of Dallas, heading home a corner kick
in the 81st minute to provide Austin College the only score of the game.
Senior forward Patrick Floeck of Trinity, the 2007 SCAC Offensive Player of
the Year, scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Trinity’s season opener
against University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Junior forward Zac Berry of Rhodes
had the game winner against Augustana College, and was also a vital part in the
win against Fontbonne. DePauw and Southwestern did not nominate
anyone for the award.

Defensive Player-of-the-Week

played Friday, Aug. 29th through Sunday, Aug. 31st)
ANDY BURKE OF CENTRE
COLLEGE, a
junior outside back from Cincinnati, Ohio, has been selected the SCAC Men's
Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 29
through Sunday, August 31.
Burke played smothering defense and scored an overtime game winning goal for
the Colonels in a pair of shutout wins on the road over the weekend. On Friday,
Burke and the Centre defense held Muskingum University scoreless and
limited their offense to just two shots on goal. Then on Saturday, Burke
shut down Trine’s target play with consistent, hard-nosed defending and limited
the Thunder to just 3 shots on goal and 2 corner kicks.
The tough play of
Burke led the Colonels to their season-opener victory for the seventh
consecutive season, and it is the fifth time in the last seven opening matches
that Centre has posted a shutout.

outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior goalkeeper
Johnny Nally of Sewanee
allowed only one goal and posted a shutout in the Tigers two victories over the
weekend. Senior defender Michael Robertson of Trinity scored a goal and
an assist over the weekend, including the game-winning goal against UT-Tyler on
Saturday night. Senior midfielder Brett Wooten of Oglethorpe anchored the
midfield line defensively that slowed down the offenses of Methodist and
Guilford respectively. Junior defender Tom Robins of Hendrix had a solid
weekend from the defensive end and also scored his first goal of the season and
only goal for Hendrix against University of the Ozarks Sunday afternoon.
Freshman goalkeeper Grant Gosselin of Austin College had an outstanding
debut for the ‘Roos, stopping all four shots he faced and making several other
spectacular game saving plays in a 1-0 shutout win over the University of Dallas
on Sunday. Sophomore defender Alex Johnson of DePauw beat attackers to
