Academic All-America Men’s Soccer Team
STAMFORD, Conn. -
Senior midfielder Chris Giebink of Trinity University was named to the
2002 CoSIDA/Verizon Academic All-America Men's Soccer First Team.
The Verizon Academic All-America Teams program recognizes
student-athletes who have succeeded on the field and in the classroom.
Individuals are selected by votes from CoSIDA, the 1,800-member College
Sports Information Directors of America. To be eligible, an athlete must
be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at
least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. (Full

exclusive voting by the league’s head coaches, Trinity University, the
2002 SCAC men’s soccer champions and current No. 1 team in the nation,
was rewarded with all three of the major post-season conference awards for
its incredible season. Senior forward Josh Card was the unanimous choice
for SCAC Player-of-the-Year, first-year forward Mike Marino was named the
league’s Freshman-of-the-Year, and head coach Paul McGinlay was tabbed
as SCAC Coach-of-the-Year.

Trinity men headed to National
Quarterfinals

REDLANDS, Calif. -
The Trinity men's soccer team is headed back to the NCAA Division III
National Quarterfinals for the third time in school history and first time
since 1999. After defeating Texas Lutheran 3-0 in a first round contest on
Wednesday, the Tigers defeated Colorado College 4-1 in the region
semifinal on Saturday and then defeated the host school University of
Redlands 2-0 in the region final on Sunday to advance.
In the round of eight, Trinity (19-0-2), which is the top-ranked team in
the nation, will host Macalester
(Minn.) College (15-4-1) on Sunday in San Antonio, at 1 p.m. CT.

Texas Lutheran University. The Tigers (17-0-2) play at Colorado College

men defeat Southwestern for SCAC crown;

SAN ANTONIO, Texas
- The Trinity men's soccer team will be traveling to Seguin to take on
Texas Lutheran University in the first round of the NCAA playoffs.
The
Tigers wrapped up the regular season with a 4-2 victory over Southwestern
on Saturday to clinch the program’s sixth conference championship and
fifth in the last seven years.

Division III rankings. The TU Tigers tied then No. 10 Centre College 2-2
in double overtime on Friday and defeated regionally-ranked The University
of the South-Sewanee 3-1 on Sunday.
Centre College (13-2-2) dropped to from 10th to 18th, after losing to
Southwestern 1-0 on Sunday.
DePauw
University (14-3-1) remained 21st this week, winning three games on the
week. The Tigers defeated Anderson 4-1 in non-conference action on Tuesday
and swept a pair of conference matches - defeating Rhodes (3-0) on Friday

in this week's NSCAA
Division III national rankings. The TU Tigers also had a 6-1 victory over
Dominican (Ill.) University on Friday.
Trinity's top-ranking is believed to be a first for any team sport in the

Centre College (11-1-0) won its only match of the week - 2-1 against Mac
Murray (Ill.) and enters the top 10 this week after a No. 13 ranking a
week ago.
Joining Trinity and Centre in the rankings this week is DePauw

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. -
The third-ranked Trinity University men's soccer team plays host to the
nation's top-ranked squad, Rowan (N.J.) University on Saturday at 8 p.m.
The Profs are 10-0-1 and took over the No. 1 ranking in this week's NSCAA
Division III poll.
Rowan must first contend with Southwestern University (6-4-1) on Friday,
in a game that will be played at Trinity.

Division III national rankings, released Monday. Rhodes College, which

Wash. (Mo.) Univ.) dropped out of the rankings after coming in at 22nd

of Sewanee; Sampson of Rhodes earn top honors in all-SCAC Men's Soccer Voting
After
winning the 2001 men’s soccer conference championship – the first in
program history – The University of the South-Sewanee was rewarded when
senior defender Ryan Davis and coach Matt Kern were selected as SCAC Player
and Coach-of-the-Year respectively in exclusive all-conference voting by the
league’s head coaches. In the same voting, Justin Sampson of Rhodes College
