After a long weather delay because of snow, Trinity finally got to play its NCAA Semifinal game on Friday, but lost 3-2 to Otterbein in a close match.

Giebink of Trinity named to 2002 CoSIDA/Verizon
Academic All-America Men’s Soccer Team
STAMFORD, Conn.
- Senior midfielder Chris Giebink of Trinity University was named to the 2002 CoSIDA/Verizon Academic All-America Men's Soccer First Team.

The Verizon Academic All-America Teams program recognizes student-athletes who have succeeded on the field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected by votes from CoSIDA, the 1,800-member College Sports Information Directors of America. To be eligible, an athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. (Full Release)

- The Trinity University Tigers edged the Macalster College Scots 1-0 in a NCAA Division III Men's National Quarterfinals match, earning the first-ever Final Four berth for the men's soccer team.

SUWANEE, Ga.
- In exclusive voting by the league’s head coaches, Trinity University, the 2002 SCAC men’s soccer champions and current No. 1 team in the nation, was rewarded with all three of the major post-season conference awards for its incredible season. Senior forward Josh Card was the unanimous choice for SCAC Player-of-the-Year, first-year forward Mike Marino was named the league’s Freshman-of-the-Year, and head coach Paul McGinlay was tabbed as SCAC Coach-of-the-Year.

Trinity men headed to National Quarterfinals
Tigers to host on Sunday
REDLANDS, Calif.
- The Trinity men's soccer team is headed back to the NCAA Division III National Quarterfinals for the third time in school history and first time since 1999. After defeating Texas Lutheran 3-0 in a first round contest on Wednesday, the Tigers defeated Colorado College 4-1 in the region semifinal on Saturday and then defeated the host school University of Redlands 2-0 in the region final on Sunday to advance.

In the round of eight, Trinity (19-0-2), which is the top-ranked team in the nation, will host
Macalester (Minn.) College (15-4-1) on Sunday in San Antonio, at 1 p.m. CT.

Trinity advances 3-0 over Texas Lutheran
SEGUIN, Texas
- Trinity University won its first round NCAA match today 3-0 over host Texas Lutheran University. The Tigers (17-0-2) play at Colorado College (15-5-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT in the region semifinal. (Story from Trinity's web site)

Trinity men defeat Southwestern for SCAC crown; 
open NCAA play Wednesday at Texas Lutheran
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Trinity men's soccer team will be traveling to Seguin to take on Texas Lutheran University in the first round of the NCAA playoffs.

The Tigers wrapped up the regular season with a 4-2 victory over Southwestern on Saturday to clinch the program’s sixth conference championship and fifth in the last seven years.

Centre drops to 18th; DePauw still 21st in latest

For the fourth consecutive week, Trinity University (15-0-2) is the nation's No. 1 team, according to the latest NSCAA Division III rankings. The TU Tigers tied then No. 10 Centre College 2-2 in double overtime on Friday and defeated regionally-ranked The University of the South-Sewanee 3-1 on Sunday.

Centre College (13-2-2) dropped to from 10th to 18th, after losing to Southwestern 1-0 on Sunday.

DePauw University (14-3-1) remained 21st this week, winning three games on the week. The Tigers defeated Anderson 4-1 in non-conference action on Tuesday and swept a pair of conference matches - defeating Rhodes (3-0) on Friday and Hendrix (3-0) on Sunday. (Full story)

For the second consecutive week, Trinity University is the nation's No. 1 team, according to the latest NSCAA Division III rankings. The TU Tigers won two SCAC contests this week, including Friday's 1-0 victory over then #16 DePauw University in a SCAC match-up of Top 20 teams. Trinity also defeated Rose-Hulman 8-0 on Sunday.

Trinity's top-ranking is believed to be a first for any team sport in the 12-year history of the SCAC.

Centre College (12-1-1) maintained its No. 10 national ranking, after a 14-0 victory over Aurora (Ill.) University on Thursday, and a 0-0 double-overtime deadlock with North Park (Ill.) University on Saturday.

DePauw University (9-3-1) dropped from 16th to 20th this week. After the 1-0 loss to Trinity on Friday, DePauw rebounded with a 1-0 shutout of Southwestern University. (Full story)

After Saturday's 4-0 blanking of Rowan (N.J.) University - the No. 1 team in the nation at the time - Trinity University (10-0-1) leapfrogged from third to the top in this week's NSCAA Division III national rankings. The TU Tigers also had a 6-1 victory over Dominican (Ill.) University on Friday.

Trinity's top-ranking is believed to be a first for any team sport in the 12-year history of the SCAC.

Centre College (11-1-0) won its only match of the week - 2-1 against Mac Murray (Ill.) and enters the top 10 this week after a No. 13 ranking a week ago.

Joining Trinity and Centre in the rankings this week is DePauw University (8-2-1), which made the highest debut of any team in the top 25 rankings, coming in at 16th. The DU Tigers were off last week. (Full story)

#3 Trinity to host #1 Rowan on Saturday
SAN ANTONIO, Tex.
- The third-ranked Trinity University men's soccer team plays host to the nation's top-ranked squad, Rowan (N.J.) University on Saturday at 8 p.m. The Profs are 10-0-1 and took over the No. 1 ranking in this week's NSCAA Division III poll.

Rowan must first contend with Southwestern University (6-4-1) on Friday, in a game that will be played at Trinity.

Despite its first blemish of the season, a 1-1 tie to Texas Lutheran on Friday, Trinity University men's soccer team (8-0-1) remained third in this week's NSCAA Division III national rankings. Centre College, which swept two SCAC matches with Hendrix College (3-0) and Rhodes College (1-0), leaped from 22nd to 13th in the same rankings. The Colonels are now 10-1-0 on the season. Trinity University men's soccer team, which remained undefeated at 8-0-0 with a 5-1 victory over Millikin (Ill.) University on Friday, moved up one position to third in this week's NSCAA Division III national rankings. Centre College, which lost its first match of the season, a 3-1 conference tilt with DePauw University, dropped from 11th to 20th. After taking SCAC games from Rhodes and Hendrix, Trinity University men's soccer team - undefeated at 7-0-0 - remains seventh in this week's NSCAA Division III national rankings. Centre College, also 7-0-0 after SCAC victories over Oglethorpe and Millsaps, continues its move up the rankings, jumping two notches from 13th to 11th. Falling out of the rankings was DePauw University (4-2-1), which had been ranked 21st last week. The DU Tigers defeated Wabash 4-1, before dropping a 1-0 decision to University of Chicago on Saturday. (Full story)

Trinity University (5-0-0) men's soccer continued its accent up the NSCAA Division III national rankings, moving from fifth to fourth in this week's release. Another big story was the entry of two SCAC schools into the rankings. Centre College, off to a 5-0-0 start, made the highest entry of any previously unranked school coming in at 13th. DePauw University (3-1-1), which had been receiving votes in the previous rankings, finally cracked this week's rankings at 21st. (Full story)

DePauw receives votes; Rhodes drops out of rankings
After back-to-back shutouts of Washington & Lee (4-0) and University of Dallas (7-0), the Trinity University men's soccer team jumped nine places to fifth in the NSCAA Division III national rankings, released Monday. Rhodes College, which split two contests (1-0 loss to #14 Univ. of Chicago / 1-0 victory over Wash. (Mo.) Univ.) dropped out of the rankings after coming in at 22nd last week. DePauw University, which tied Wittenberg 1-1 and defeated Earlham 2-1 last week, continued to receive votes. (Full story)

Davis and Kern of Sewanee; Sampson of Rhodes earn top honors in all-SCAC Men's Soccer Voting
After winning the 2001 men’s soccer conference championship – the first in program history – The University of the South-Sewanee was rewarded when senior defender Ryan Davis and coach Matt Kern were selected as SCAC Player and Coach-of-the-Year respectively in exclusive all-conference voting by the league’s head coaches.
