Mark Hudson has been named the new head men’s soccer coach at Austin College, Vice President of Student Affairs and Athletics Tim Millerick announced today. Junior defender Kyle Altman of Trinity University has been named to the NSCAA Scholar All-America First Team and senior defender David Horne of Centre College was selected to the Third Team. Thirteen from SCAC named to NSCAA Division III Men's All-Region Soccer Teams
League has six selected First Team All-South Central Region

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its 2006 NCAA Division III Men's All-Region Teams today and the SCAC had 13 individuals receive recognition, including six named to the South Central Region First Team. Kyle Altman, Tyrone Petrakis, Thomas Owens and Joshua Peterson - all of Trinity University - and David Horne of Centre College and David Mueller of Oglethorpe University all received First Team honors. Josh Rosendahl of Oglethorpe and Nick Judah of Centre were named to the Second Team. Darryn Lewis and Lauro Davalos of Southwestern University, Adam Boyer of Centre and Stephen Carpenter of Austin College were all Third Team selections. Trinity (19-1-1) ends its season after being shut out for just the third time in the past five seasons - two of which have come in the playoffs. Trinity University retained its spot atop the D3kicks.com Top 25 rankings for the seventh consecutive week. The Tigers (15-0-0) defeated previously No. 22 Centre College, 1-0, and DePauw University, 5-1 in SCAC play last weekend. After finally cracking the Top 25 at No.22 last week, Centre College (10-3-1) dropped back-to-back conference games against Trinity and Southwestern last weekend and dropped out of the rankings. Trinity University (15-0-0) remained undefeated with two more wins last week - SCAC victories over previously No. 18 Centre and DePauw - and remains the nation's top-ranked team for the seventh consecutive week according to the NSCAA/adidas Top 25 poll. Trinity University (15-0-0) picked up two big conference wins last week - defeating #18 Centre College, 1-0, and DePauw University, 5-1 - and remains atop the Central Region NSCAA/adidas men's rankings. The Tigers have shutouts in seven of their last eight matches. Centre College (10-3-1) was tripped up twice last week, losing to Trinity and then dropping a 1-0 decision to Southwestern University on Sunday. Sophomore goalkeepeer Alex Margolin of Rhodes College was selected to the D3kicks.com National Team of the Week for their efforts last week. Margolin was the backbone to an impressive defensive effort in which the Lynx were out-shot 27-3 by #18 Washington (Mo.) University. The Trinity University men's soccer team is ranked second in the 2006 preseason D3kicks.com Top 25 rankings. The Tigers, coming off a 19-2-1 season and the program's ninth SCAC title, trail only defending national champion Messiah College in the inaugural rankings. Trinity to improve soccer fields; weight room facilities

SAN ANTONIO
, Texas - Trinity University Director of Athletics Bob King has announced improvements to the school’s soccer field and weight room. The soccer field, dedicated in 1990, will be extended by eight yards, making it 120 yards long. The width will be expanded to 76 yards, from 66. The dimensions will meet all NCAA specifications. New 70-foot lighting poles will be installed, bringing the field to television broadcast quality standards. Plans are under way to build a press box structure on the south end of the field.
