TRINITY CLAIMS SIX SPOTS ON 2006 ALL-TOURNAMENT SOFTBALL TEAM

SEWANEE, Tenn. – After winning its second consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference softball title and sixth overall, Trinity University was rewarded with six selections to the all-tournament team.

The Texas Tigers ran the table at this year’s tournament, conducted in conjunction with the 2006 Spring Sports Festival, winning three straight games concluding with an 8-5 victory over DePauw University in the championship contest. As tourney runner-up, DePauw had three players selected to the team.

For the second consecutive year, the TU Tigers’ Erin Mulvey was the only unanimous selection to the squad. She was the winning pitcher in Sunday’s clincher and is now 5-0 lifetime with a 1.05 ERA in SCAC tournament action. Other back-to-back all-tournament honorees include Mandy Chastang, also of Trinity, and Tori Huggins of Hendrix College. Other two-time selections are Josie Manley of Millsaps College and Kristin Yurasits of Trinity, who also made the team in 2004.
