SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week
(For meets swum from Monday, Jan. 28th through Sunday, Feb. 3rd)

JOHN PRATER OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a first-year swimmer from Round Rock, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday, January 28 through Sunday, February 3.

Prater
won three individual events in leading the Southwestern men's swim team to its first dual meet win in four years.

Prater swam the 50 free in 23.86 and the 100 free in 52.74, both season-best times. He also won the 500 free.


SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week
(For meets from Monday, Jan. 28th through Sunday, Feb. 3rd)

MIKE METROKA OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a senior from New Castle, Ind., has been selected the SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, January 28 through Sunday, February 3.

Metroka, competing in his final dual meet as a DePauw Tiger, won the 1-meter competition with a score of 162.30 and finished second on the 3-meter board with a score of 160.90 against the University of Chicago.

 


WEEK 12

SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week
(For meets swum from Monday, Jan. 21st through Sunday, Jan. 27th)

TOM GROSSINGER OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a first-year swimmer from Evanston, Ill., has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday, January 21 through Sunday, January 27.

At this weekend’s Colorado College Classic Invitational, Grossinger set a new school record of 2:14.04 in the 200 breaststroke. He also won the 100 breast in 1:00.48, and split 59.84 on the medley relay.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year swimmer Josh Baugh of DePauw
was instrumental in leading the Tigers past Wabash College this past weekend. He posted life team or non rested times in every event he swam - 50 breast on the relay (27.08), 100 breast (1:01.34), and 100 fly (53.99). Then when his team needed him most, Baugh won the 200 IM with a time of 1:58:88. And on Saturday against Illinois Wesleyan he won the 100 fly (54.29) and placed second in the 100 back (57.90). Sophomore Graham Mullings of Trinity helped the men to a first-place team finish at the 2008 Tiger Invitational with one first-place finish, two second-place finishes and one third-place finish. Mullings finished first in the 50 freestyle with a 22.57, second in the 100 backstroke (57.75), second in the 200 freestyle (1:49.15), and third in the 100 freestyle (49.42). He was also part of the first-place 200 free relay team (21.8), second-place 200 medley relay team (50 free split 21.9) and second-place 400 free relay team (48.47).


SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week
(For meets from Monday, Jan. 21st through Sunday, Jan. 27th)

ADAM WISHART OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Warsaw, Ind., has been selected the SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, January 21 through Sunday, January 27.

Wishart placed first on both the one and three meter boards this past weekend against a strong Wabash diving program.

He scored 235.5 on the one-meter and 225.90 on the three-meter.


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Austin Whelan of Trinity
helped the Tiger men to a first place team finish at the 2008 Tiger Invitational. He finished third in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 210.65 and third on the 3-meter with a score of 347.50.
 


WEEK 11

SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week

JARRETT TATE OF RHODES COLLEGE,, a first-year swimmer from Decatur, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday, January 14 through Sunday, January 20.

Highlighting the dual meet meet against Henderson State University on Saturday, Tate broke his own school record in the 50 free by touching the wall in only 21.24 seconds.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year swimmer Taylor Clark of Trinity
swam season-best times in a win over Division II Mesa State and a narrow 149-124 loss to 15th-ranked Division II Incarnate Word. Clark was second in the 200 freestyle (1:44.3), second in the 100 fly (53.77) and led off the first-place 200 freestyle relay team with a 22.8. First-year swimmer Dustin McCammon of Southwestern won two
individual events and led the 200 medley relay to a second-place finish this past weekend against McMurry University. He swam the backstroke leg of the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 26.80 - a season-best performance. McCammon won the 200 individual medley in a season-best 2:06.27 and the 100 backstroke in 58.74.


SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week
(For meets from Monday, Jan. 14th through Sunday, Jan. 20th)

RYAN COOK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Katy, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, January 14 through Sunday, January 20.

Cook helped the Trinity men to a victory over
Division II Mesa State and a narrow 149-124 loss to 15th-ranked Division II Incarnate Word.

Cook won both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions with NCAA qualifying scores of 309.60 and 340.10.
 


WEEK 10

SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week

JIMMY TATGENHORST OF CENTRE COLLEGE,, a junior from Knoxville, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday, January 7 through Sunday, January 13.

Tatgenhorst, a
fter being gone all first semester while studying abroad, came back to win the 50 and 100 Free against Transylvania in times of 22.53 and 49.78 respectively.

He also won those same two races at the Colonel Classic, with times of 22.71 and 49.82. Tatgenhorst also anchored the 400 Free relay with a time of 48.05.


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year swimmer Jake Eichman of Hendrix
swam a personal best of 1:55.98 in the 200 Free. He also posted times of 1:02.84 in the 100 Back and 52.72 in the 100 Free. Senior Brent Burk of Austin College had a trio of third-place finishes last week. He finished with a time of 11:05.32 in the 1000 Free, 1:01.42 in the 100 back (a personal best) and 5:23.95 in the 500 Free. Burk also led the 200 Free Relay to a third-place finish with a split of 25.09 - another personal best.


SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week

SETH DAVES OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a first-year from Magnolia, Texas, and HUNTER HAYES OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a sophomore from Hopkinsville, Ky., have been selected the SCAC Men's Co-Divers-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, January 7 through Sunday, January 13.

Daves won the 1-meter board at the Austin College Invitational with a NCAA-qualifying score of 425.95 points. He finished second to his teammate in the 3-meter board with a score of 383.35.

Hayes met the NCAA qualifying standard in both the 1 and 3-meter boards, scoring 285.20 on the the 1-meter and 289.65 on the 3-meter.

WEEK 5

SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week
(For meets swum from Monday, Nov. 26th through Sunday, Dec. 2nd)

JOHN COOK OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Leawood, Kan., has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday, November 26 through Sunday, December 2.

Cook led off DePauw’s 200 Free relay with a 20.89 as the team ended up going a 1:22.77 at the DePauw Invitational. He then anchored DePauw’s 400 free relay with a 44.98 as the team finished with a time of 3:04.16. Both relays were NCAA A and B cuts along with school pool and meet records.

Individually, Cook won both the 50 free and 100 free, posting a NCAA B cut and lifetime best time of 45.98 in the latter.

In the 200 free he set a new meet record with a finishing time of 1:44.20.  

Cook also anchored both the 200 medley relay with a time of 20.56 and the 400 medley relay with a time of 45.88.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Tom Grossinger of Colorado College was impressive in his performances both Friday and Saturday, winning four events over the weekend, and taking second in two others. He pulled wins on Friday in the 200 medley relay and 100 breaststroke (1:01.57, season best). He came back on Saturday to again win his signature event, the 200 breaststroke (which he leads as of last week’s SCAC top times list), and stepped in to fill an absence in the 200 back and won that event as well. The freshman continues to make a major impact in every competition. Sophomore Peter Smith of Rhodes, at the DePauw Invitational, swam a lifetime best and school-record in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.34. Smith also swam season-best times in the 400 IM (4:18.95) and the 200 IM (2:03.45).


SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week

RYAN COOK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Katy, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, November 26 through Sunday, December 2.

Cook finished sixth on the 3-meter board and 11th on the 1-meter board at the 14th Annual Miami University Invitational.

Cook was the only male Division III diver to finish in the top eight in the 3-meter competition.

SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week

ROBERT ALEXANDER OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a senior from Gahanna, Ohio, has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday, November 12 through Sunday, November 18.

Alexander won the both the 50 and 100 fly at DePauw's dual meet against Wheaton and Transylvania - swimming times of 21.33 and a 52.84 respectively.

Alexander also split a 21.02 on the Tigers' winning 200 free relay.

On Saturday at the Wabash Invitational, Alexander won the 50 fly with a 21.55 and the 100 fly with a 51.65. He finished second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.01.


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Tyler Fox of Colorado College had four top-five finishes, including second-place finishes in the 200 breast (2:17.30) and the 200 IM (2:02.30) at the six team Rowan Cup Races in Glassboro, New Jersey. He also claimed fourth in the 50 free (22.97) and fifth in the 400 IM. Fox was instrumental in his team's second-place relay finishes, highlighted with a 48.9 freestyle split anchoring the 400 medley relay. First-year Dustin McCammon of Southwestern had a strong showing at the SCAC West Shootout. He swam season-best times in all of his individual events, placing fifth in the 200 back (2:06.65), sixth in the 200 IM (2:07.60) and ninth in the 100 back (58.91). McCammon also led all three relays to season-best times.


SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week
(For meets from Monday, Nov. 12th through Sunday, Nov. 18th)

SETH DAVES OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a first-year diver from Magnolia, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, November 12 through Sunday, November 18.

Daves
won both boards at the double dual against Austin College and Incarnate Word. He took the 1-meter in a NCAA qualifying score of 273.15 and the 3-meter with a score of 241.20.

At the SCAC meet the following day, Daves took fourth in the 1-meter (235.85) and second in the 3-meter (239.15).

 


WEEK 2

SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week
(For meets swum from Monday, Nov. 5th through Sunday, Nov. 11th)

DREW WAGSTAFF OF RHODES COLLEGE, a freshman from Slidell, La., has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday, November 5 through Sunday, November 11.

Wagstaff won the 1000 free in a time of 10:21.38 as well as the 500 free in a time of 5:06.31 against Sewanee this past weekend.


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman John Prater of Southwestern had strong showings in two individual events and anchored the winning 200 medley relay against McMurry University. In addition to the relay, Prater won the 200 free (1:58.32) and placed fourth in the 100 free (53.52) - achieving personal best times in both events.

HUNTER HAYES OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a sophomore from Hopkinsville, Ky., has been selected the SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, November 5 through Sunday, November 11.

Hayes scored 279 points on the 1-meter board on Friday - achieving a NCAA cut in the process.
 


WEEK 1

SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week

JARRETT TATE OF RHODES COLLEGE, a freshman from Decatur, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets swum the week of Monday, October 29 through Sunday, November 4.

Out of ten DI, DII and DII schools at the 40th annual Hendrix Classic, Tate won the 50 yard free in a time of 21.60, as well as the 100 yard free in a time of 48.16.

In the 100 yard free, Tate was an “outside smoker” meaning, he led and won the heat from lane eight.    


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Will Basinger of Trinity helped the Tiger men to a 2-0 opening weekend. He finished second in the 200 free (1:51.55), won the 100 fly (54.67) and was fourth in the 500 free (5:12.32) against Pomona-Pitzer. The following day against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Basinger won both the 1000 free (10:31.87) and the 200 fly (1:59.25) and anchored the first-place 400 free relay team, which won with a time of 50.98. Freshman Brent Bowman of Centre won the 1000 free (10:15.9) and came in second in the 500 (4:58.8) against Washington & Lee University. In the 1000, Bowman set the school record - beating the previous mark by six seconds. Senior Andrew Mullen of Colorado College led his relay teams to two second-place finishes as well as two third-place finishes at the Hendrix Classic. The Tigers finished second in the 300 breaststroke relay and 500 crescendo relay and third in the 400 medley and 300 IM relays. On the very competitive 300 breaststroke relay, Mullen swam the fastest split, which was within tenths of his time from last season’s conference championship meet. He also finished fifth in the 200 breast and seventh in the 200 free at the meet.


SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week
(For meets from Monday, Oct. 29th through Sunday, Nov. 4th)

RYAN COOK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Katy, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, October 29 through Sunday, November 4.

Cook won both the 1-meter (271.28) and the 3-meter (270.83) competition against Pomona-Pitzer on Friday and repeated the feat the following day against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Cook won the 3-meter (271.25) and set a NCAA-qualifying score in the 1-meter board of 266.15. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Greg Potter of Hendrix won the 1-meter board with a score of 244.10 and finished second in the 3-meter board with a score of 215.75 at the 10-team Hendrix Classic.
