ELIZABETH MEDLOCK OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY,
a first-year swimmer from Guilford, Ind.,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, January 28 through Sunday, February 3.
At this past weekend's dual meet against Rose-Hulman, Medlock
swam the 1000
for the first in her life, posting a winning time of 11:14.61. She
also swam a lifetime best time while winning the 50 free with a
25.43 and led off the winning 200 free relay with a 25.41 split.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Jessie Carrier of Southwestern
led the Pirate women to a win
against Austin College. She won both the 50 freestyle (25.75) and
the 100 fly (1:05.87). Carrier also posted a split 25.15 in the
winning 200 free relay.

LETA GATTON OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY,,
a senior from Brownsville, Texas,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, January 21 through Sunday, January 27.
Gatton
led the
Trinity women to a first-place team finish at the 2008 Tiger
Invitational with three individual wins and one second-place
finish.
Gatton finished first in the 500 freestyle with a lifetime
best 5:12.76, first in the 200 freestyle with an NCAA B cut
1:55.22, first in the 100 freestyle with a 53.87, and second in
the 100 butterfly with a lifetime best 1:01.46.
She was also part of two first-place relay teams.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Leigh Swiger
of Rhodes
broke two school records against Sewanee. She won and broke the
200 breaststroke (2:31.28) and the 400 individual medley
(4:46.78). Junior Emily Stumhofer of Colorado College
was
a double winner with first-place finishes in 400 IM (4:59.07) and
200 IM (2:17.99), and was second in the 200 back (2:18.06).

BRADY KOSEL OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a senior from Katy, Texas,
has been selected
the SCAC Women's
Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, January 21 through
Sunday, January 27.
Kosel
helped the
Trinity women to a first-place team finish at the 2008 Tiger
Invitational.
Kosel finished fourth in the 1-meter diving competition
with a score of 209.90 and fourth on the 3-meter with her
first-ever NCAA qualifying score (481.15).

KATIE DOOGAN OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY,,
a senior from Troy, Mich.,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, January 14 through Sunday, January 20.
Doogan
won the both the
200 IM and the 400 IM with times of 2:12.13 and 4:41.88
respectively and finished third in the 200 back with a time of
2:15.71 at the Washington University Invitational on Friday and
Saturday.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Sallye Hartman of Rhodes broke the school record in
the 100 breaststroke with a finishing time of 1:09.82. She also
won the 50 free (25.5) and swam of split of 30.7 on the 200 medley
relay. Senior Leta Gatton of Trinity led the Tiger women to
a 162-110 victory over 19th-ranked Division II Incarnate Word and
a 192-69 victory over Division II Mesa State with first-place
finishes in the 200 medley relay (50 free split 24.4), 50
freestyle (25.13) and 100 freestyle (53.67).
Senior Bevin Condon of
Colorado College
won
all three on her events in the Tigers' meet against Cal State East
Bay this weekend (1000 free, 500 free, and 800 free relay), with
season-best times in the 1000 and 500. Junior Jessie Carrier of
Southwestern led the Pirate women to a win against McMurry
University. She won both the 50 freestyle (25.82) and the 100 fly
(1:05.61), and also led off the winning 200 freestyle relay in
25.97.

HAYLEY EMERICK OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a first-year diver from Portland, Texas,
has been selected
the SCAC Women's
Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, January 14 through
Sunday, January 20.
Emerick
helped the Trinity women to victories over Division
II Mesa State and Division II Incarnate Word with a victory in the
1-meter board (293.20) and a second-place finish to teammate
Lindsay Martin in the 3-meter competition (290.00).
Both scores were NCAA qualifying scores.

CAROLINE STEPHENS OF
CENTRE COLLEGE,,
a first-year swimmer from Louisville, Ky.,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, January 7 through Sunday, January 13.
Stephens
won the 200
Free at Transylvania, posting a lifetime-best time of 2:01.47. She
also anchored the 400 Medley Relay with a season-best time of
55.06.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year swimmer
Lisa Holloway of Austin College
swam a
29.54 in the 50 Back for the 200 Medley Relay which took second
place. She won the 50 Free with a time of 26.03, and the 100 Free
with a time of 56.78 - both personal best performances. Holloway
went 26.36 to lead the 200 Free Relay to a third-place finish.
First-year swimmer Sarah Feather of Hendrix finished second in
both the 500 Free (5:30.77) and the 1000 Free (11:28.37) at the
Austin College Invitational. Senior Jazzy Miller of Rhodes
won the 500 Free in 5:29.48 and anchored the 200 Free Relay with a
split time of 24.9.

MADDISON HAMIL OF DEPAUW
UNIVERSITY,
a senior from Fort Wayne, Ind.,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, November 26 through Sunday, December 2.
Hamil
won three
events at the 11-team DePauw Invitational. She took first in the
100 Breast (1:07.99) and the 50 free (24.53) and set a new meet
record in taking first in the 100 Free (53.55).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Leanne Dalton
of Colorado College
was a perfect six wins for six events this weekend,
as she led her team to victories over McMurry University on
Friday, and Metro State and McMurry on Saturday. Each day she was
instrumental in her team’s medley relay win, swimming the
butterfly leg on both the 200 and 400 medley relays. She showed
her versatility by winning the 200 IM and 100 free on Friday, and
the 200 free and 200 fly on Saturday. Dalton continues to be a
consistent and impressive performer meet after meet. Sophomore
Kelly Helvenston of Rhodes swam lifetime best in the 100 back
(1:06.92) and 200 back (2:25.08) at the DePauw Invitational.

LINDSAY MARTIN OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Longview, Texas,
has been selected
the SCAC Women's
Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, November 26
through Sunday, December 2.
Martin
finished seventh on the 3-meter and 16th on the 1-meter at the
14th Annual Miami University Invitational.
Martin was the only female D-III diver to make it to the A
final out of both events.

CALLIE BOEHME OF
DEPAUW UNIVERSITY,
a first-year swimmer from Memphis, Tenn.,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets
swum the week of Monday, November 12 through Sunday, November 18.
Boehme
won the 1650
freestyle at the nine-team Wabash Invitational with a new
school-record time of 17:55.21.
She defeated senior Ellie Miller of University of Indianapolis by
13 seconds. Miller was a Division II All-American and runner-up at
the 2005 NCAA Division II National Championships.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Alana Bergfield of Southwestern
led the Pirate
women to a strong third-place showing at the SCAC West Shootout.
She placed first in the 200 Breaststroke (2:31.08) in an unshaved
lifetime best time and second in the 100 breast (1:10.34). She
also placed third in the 200 IM (2:16.09), setting a new SU
Varsity Record in the event and swimming a lifetime best time. In
addition, she led the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay and 400
Free Relays to third place finishes.
Senior Grace Schildknecht of
Sewanee won the 400 IM
(4:49.5),
was second in the 100 breast (1:10.56), and third in the 100 fly
(1:02.83) and 200 IM (2:18.77). She also contributed legs on three
relays to help the Tigers finish third overall at the Washington
University Thanksgiving Invitational in St. Louis, Nov. 17-18.
Junior Emily Stumhofer of Colorado College put on an
impressive showing at the 2007 Rowan Cup Races by winning three
events in the two-session, six team meet in Glassboro, New Jersey.
Stumhofer won the 200-yard individual medley in the morning, then
posted victories in the 400 IM and 200-yard backstroke in the
evening. She also finished second in the 500 free and fifth in the
100 back. All of her times were season bests for the Tigers.

THOMPSON OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a first-year swimmer
from Garland, Texas,
has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for meets

November 11.
Thompson
led the Pirates to
their first dual meet win of the season over McMurry University.
She won two individual events and a relay - leading off the 200
medley relay by swimming the backstroke portion.
Thompson won both the 200 free (2:03.41) and the 100 back
(1:01.95).

swam a personal best time of 27.01 - good for a second-place
finish - in the 50 free this past weekend.

LETA GATTON OF

has been selected the SCAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week
for meets swum the week of Monday, October 29 through Sunday,
November 4.
Gatton
helped the Trinity
women to a 1-1 opening weekend.
Against Pomona-Pitzer on Friday, Gatton won the 200
freestyle (1:58.92) and the 100 freestyle (54.98) as well as
swimming the lead on the winning 200 free relay team.
On Saturday against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Gatton again
won the 200 free (1:57.98) and placed second in the 100 free
(53.92) with a time that was .03 off her winning time at the 2007
SCAC Championships. She also helped the 400 free relay team to a
second-place finish.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Alana
Bergfield of Southwestern
won two individual
events and led the 400-yard medley relay (4:15.44) to a victory
against Division II University of the Incarnate Word. Bergfield
won the 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.40) and the 200 yard
breaststroke (2:31.54), both in unshaved lifetime best times. She
also placed second in the 400 yard IM (4:54.27). Sophomore
Meredith Angel of Centre won both the 50 free (24.9) and 100
free (56.4) against Washington and Lee and was a member of the 400
free relay that broke the pool record at Washington & Lee that had
stood since 1984. Sophomore Jackie Ward of Rhodes posted
season-best times in both the 100 and 200 yard backstroke with
times of 1:05.33 and 2:19.55. For the first time in her college
career, Ward swam the 200 IM and posted a time of 2:26.18.
First-year Sarah Feather of Hendrix placed fifth in the 200
free (2:03.07) and fourth in the 500 free (5:27.38) at the 10-team
Hendrix Classic. Senior Leanne Dalton of Colorado College
led her team at the
Hendrix Classic and Hendrix Relays, swimming times very near those
from last year’s conference championships. At the relay meet,
Dalton had three third-place finishes (400 medley relay, 1500 free
relay and 500 crescendo relay) as well as a fifth in the 800 free
relay. At the Classic, she garnered a fourth-place finish in 200
fly and a sixth-place finish in 200 free.

HAYLEY EMERICK OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a first-year diver from Portland, Texas,
has been selected
the SCAC Women's
Diver-of-the-Week for meets the week of Monday, October 29 through
Sunday, November 4.
Emerick won the 1-meter (250.80) and
placed second to teammate Lindsay Martin in the 3-meter (234.15)
board competition against Pomona-Pitzer on Friday.
The following day against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Emerick
took second in both boards - posting a score of 218.45 in the
1-meter and 217.57 in the 3-meter competition.
