TRINITY WINS 13TH CONSECUTIVE MEN'S TENNIS TITLE

SEWANEE, Tenn. After dropping the doubles point, Trinity University reeled off wins at No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 singles to clinch the 2006 SCAC Men’s Tennis Championship and earn a 4-1 victory over DePauw University. The title is the 13th consecutive for Trinity and 14th overall.

The final day of the 2006 SCAC Spring Sports Festival was plagued by wind and rain which forced the men’s title match to finish on the three indoor courts at Sewanee. The third/fourth place match between Rhodes and Sewanee was moved to indoor courts in Chattanooga and the fifth/sixth and seventh/eighth place matches were cancelled.

D.J. Petros of Trinity, who earned a spot on the team at No. 1 doubles with playing partner John Matthews, is the only honoree on this year’s squad that has earned multiple all-tournament honors. He and partner Nick Kaloudis went 3-0 at No. 3 doubles at the 2004 SCAC Championships in Atlanta.
