DEPAUW WINS FIRST-EVER SCAC
MEN'S TENNIS TITLE
WACO, Texas –
With the
match tied, 4-4, DePauw University’s number-four singles player Bryan Heck
battled to a three-set win which lifted the eighth-ranked Tigers to a 5-4
win over seventh-ranked Trinity University and their first Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference title.
Heck and teammates Evan Webeler and Kortney Keith all earned spots on the
2007 All-Tournament team by going 3-0 in singles play at the
championships.
Heck was one of only two players to be named all-tournament for both
singles and doubles play as Colorado College’s Daniel Solomon joined him
as a double honoree.
Also, Heck is the only player on this year’s team that also earned both
singles and doubles all-tournament recognition in 2006.
Oglethorpe’s Eckhardt Van der Linde joined Heck as a back-to-back
all-tournament singles honoree. DePauw’s Keith earned a slot on the 2005
all-tournament singles team.
Rhodes’ Scott Bayer made the all-tournament doubles team in 2005.

*Any
player (or doubles team) that goes through the conference tournament
undefeated is named to the all-tournament team automatically, but a
player (or doubles team) must compete in at least two matches at the
tournament to be considered. If no one player or team goes
undefeated using the above criteria, then the next best record at
that position will be named to the all-tournament team. |
