Named ITA Rookie-of-the-Year

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - DePauw
University's Janelle Arita has earned special honors from the
Intercollegiate Tennis Association as she was named the
organization's Division III Rookie of the Year. She is the
third women's player from the SCAC in the last five years to
take home the award. Hayley Dittus of Trinity won the award in
2004 and Gab Carvalho of Sewanee earned the honor in 2005.

Announces All-Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Teams
Sewanee's Carvalho; Trinity's Gaines named Players-of-the-Year
SUWANEE,
Ga. -
In exclusive voting by the head coaches in the
league, Gab Carvalho of Sewanee-University of the South and
Oliver Gaines of Trinity University have been selected the
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tennis
Players-of-the-Year. In that same balloting,
DePauw University swept the Coach-of-the-Year awards as Scott
Riggle was voted Women’s COTY and Tom Cath was recognized as
Men’s COTY.

Sewanee's Carvalho named DIII National Senior Player-of-the-Year

- Sewanee senior Gab Carvalho had the distinct honor of
being named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)
National Freshman Player of the Year in 2005. Tonight, she has
made a set of award bookends for the volumes of her career as
the senior has been named the ITA National Senior Player of
the Year.

The sixth-ranked DePauw
University Tigers improved to 21-4 and earned their first
outright Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title after
defeating 18th-ranked Trinity University, 8-1, in the SCAC
championship match on Sunday. Trinity dropped to 14-8 with the

DePauw, Sewanee and Trinity named to 47-team NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament field
DePauw and Sewanee to host regionals
DePauw University
received the SCAC's automatic bid and conference runner-up Trinity
University, along with Sewanee-University of the South, were
selected as two of nine at-large teams to compete in the 2008 NCAA
Division III Women's Tennis Championships.
The teams will play a
single-elimination tournament with the first, second and third
rounds played at regional sites, May 2-4.
