SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week
(For matches played from Monday, Sept. 29th through Sunday, Oct. 5th)

ADRIENNE COBB OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a senior middle hitter from Indianapolis, Ind., has been named SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 29 through Sunday, October 5.

Cobb
helped guide the Tigers to a perfect 4-0 mark in the SCAC East/Central Crossover and a 17-6 overall record. She posted a .355 hitting percentage and averaged 3.1 kills per set. She also totaled 20 blocks for a 1.4 average.
 
Cobb’s play helped the Tigers extend their win streak to six matches, which ties a season high set earlier this season when DePauw won six straight from Aug. 29 through Sep. 6.
  
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year outside hitter Sarah Bennett of Centre College tallied 31 kills to average 2.21 kills per game at the SCAC East/Central Crossover. She hit .231 and added four assists and 10 digs on the weekend. Sophomore libero Sara Gawor of Hendrix College collected 73 digs over the weekend. She now ranks second on the team with 189 digs in 2008. Senior middle blocker Toni Manley of Millsaps College netted 20 kills to go along with her .264 hitting percentage as the Majors went 3-1 on the week. Junior outside hitter Katherine Delavan of Rhodes College tallied 37 kills along with a .323 hitting percentage. She also added three service aces and 23 digs. Senior setter Caroline Keener of Trinity University totaled 96 assists in nine games to average 10.67 a game. She also helped lead the Tigers to a hitting percentage of .315 while guiding the team to a 3-1 record on the week, only losing to seventh-ranked Wittenberg. Birmingham-Southern, Colorado College, Sewanee-The University of the South, and Oglethorpe University did not nominate anyone this week. Austin College and Southwestern University did not play.


WEEK 5

SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week
(For matches played from Monday, Sept. 22nd through Sunday, Sept. 28th)

LINDSAY THOMPSON OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a first-year middle blocker/outside hitter from Austin Texas, and AMY MITTELSTAEDT OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior outside hitter from Phoenix, Ariz., have been named SCAC Volleyball Co-Players-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 22 through Sunday, September 28.

Thompson
helped guide the Pirates to a perfect 4-0 mark in the SCAC East/West Crossover and a 15-6 overall record. She averaged 1.1 blocks per set and 2.58 kills per set. Thompson also totaled 31 kills 13 blocks and hit .289.
 
Mittelstaedt led the Tigers in kills in two of the four SCAC matches, including a weekend-high 15 kills against Austin College while also hitting .333. Mittelstaedt committed just two errors the entire weekend.
  
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore middle blocker Emily Perkins of Colorado College averaged 2.71 kills per game and 3.79 digs per game while leading the Tigers to a 3-1 record at the SCAC East-West Crossover. She also moved into 19th place on Colorado College’s all-time kills list with 625. Senior defensive specialist Emily Smith of DePauw University averaged 8.5 digs per set with a high of 36 against Trinity. Sophomore outside hitter Becca Clancy of Hendrix College racked up 17 kills over the week. Junior libero Dixie Krauss of Millsaps College helped the Majors to a 3-1 record at the Belhaven (Miss.) Invitational. She notched 48 digs to go along with four service aces and one kill. Austin College, Birmingham-Southern, Centre College, Oglethorpe University and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate anyone this week.


WEEK 4

SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week
(For matches played from Monday, Sept. 15th through Sunday, Sept. 21st)

MEREDITH BALLARD OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a first-year outside hitter from Libertyville, Ill., has been named SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 15 through Sunday, September 21.

Ballard guided the Tigers to a perfect 4-0 mark in the SCAC Central/West Divisional #1 and a 12-3 overall record.
 
Ballard hit an astounding .621 with 40 kills, four blocks, and 14 digs. She committed just two errors the entire weekend. Against No. 24 Austin, Ballard had a season-best 15 kills while hitting .700.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle hitter Adrienne Cobb of DePauw University averaged 3.2 kills per game and had a .374 hitting percentage during the DePauw Invitational. She was also named to the all-tournament team. Senior middle hitter Allison Squires of Rhodes College had 25 kills on 59 attempts and hit .322. First-year setter Christina Nicholls of Southwestern University led the Pirates to a 3-1 record at the SCAC West/Central Crossover. She averaged 12.1 assists per game and 3.1 digs per game, including a weekend high of 38 in the Pirates’ 3 game win over Birmingham-Southern. Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Edwards of Trinity University averaged 3 kills per game and posted a solid .296 hitting percentage. She also added three double-doubles in four matches over the weekend. Austin College, Birmingham-Southern, Centre College, Hendrix College, Millsaps College and Oglethorpe University did not nominate any this week and Sewanee-The University of the South did not play.


WEEK 3

SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week
(For matches played from Monday, Sept. 8th through Sunday, Sept. 14th)

STEPHANIE WOESTE OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a first-year middle hitter from Louisville, Ky., has been named SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 8 through Sunday, September 14.

Woeste helped lead the Colonels to a 4-1 mark and a first-place finish at the Centre College Classic.
 
Woeste hit .400 over the weekend while also contributing with 63 kills, 12 solo block, and 18 assist blocks, three service aces and 10 digs. In the championship match against Hanover (Ind.), she tallied 12 kills in 24 attempts (.500) with two solo blocks and six block assists.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior setter Patty Hill of Hendrix College tallied 90 assists over four matches in the Warriors fourth annual Fall Volleyball Classic. Hill dished out 30 assists against Crichton, 43 against Williams Baptist, 17 against the University of Dallas and 10 against Central Baptist. Sophomore outside hitter Kate Hall of Millsaps College averaged 2.83 kills per game and added 10 blocks and six aces as the Majors dropped to 6-6 over the weekend. Sophomore libero Kayla McCurry of Rhodes College averaged 5.27 digs per game, all against Division II opponents, to go along with a serve receive average of 2.29 (on a 3.0 scale) and her 35 digs against Southern Arkansas. Junior outside hitter Audra gentry of Southwestern University posted double-doubles against Heidelberg and UT-Dallas in digs and kills. She also added nine digs against Schreiner and hit .246 for the weekend. Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Edwards of Trinity tallied team-highs in kills, service aces, and digs in the Tigers win over Texas Lutheran. She hit .282, posted 15 kills, six service aces and 24 digs. Austin College, Colorado College, DePauw University, Oglethorpe University and Sewanee-The University of the South did not nominate any this week.


WEEK 2

SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week
(For matches played from Monday, Sept. 1st through Sunday, Sept. 7th)

DAMARIS ORASANU OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior middle hitter from North Richland Hills, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 1 through Sunday, September 7.

Orasanu led the Kangaroos to a 4-0 mark at the University of Dallas Festival with wins over Concordia, University of Dallas, Hendrix, and Presentation.
 
Orasanu hit a blistering .495 while averaging 4.42 kills per game and 1.5 blocks per game. She committed five errors the entire weekend and notched 31 kills in the final two matches without a single error.
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defensive specialist Emily Smith of DePauw University guided the Tigers to a 3-1 record at the Hanover (Ind.) Invitational over the weekend. Smith averaged 6.7 digs per game and was named to the Hanover Invitational all-tournament team. She tallied a career-high 45 digs against Hanover in the title match. Junior middle blocker Terricka Thomas of Hendrix College paced the Warriors with 26 kills and eight blocks and was named to the University of Dallas all-tournament team. Sophomore outside hitter Kate Hall of Millsaps College averaged 11 kills per game to go along with her 11 digs, nine blocks, and seven service aces in four games. She tallied a weekend-high 16 kills in a 3-1 win over Belhaven (Miss.) Senior middle hitter Allison Squires of Rhodes College helped the Lynx sweep all four matches over the weekend a the Texas-Tyler Invite. Squires hit .356, tallied 30 kills all while adding 14 digs, five blocks and three service aces. Senior right side Brittany Roper of Sewanee totaled a team-high nine kills, while adding three aces and five digs in a straight-set victory over Agnes Scott. Junior middle blocker Lauren Brown of Southwestern University turned in 15 blocks and 43 kills in four games at the Emory Classic. She hit .342 against #3 Emory and was named to the all-tournament team as well. Senior outside hitter Megan Dudley of Trinity University led the Tigers to a 3-1 record and a second place finish at the Puget Sound Invitational. Dudley led the team in kills (55) and hit .319 and averaged 1.35 digs per game over the week. Dudley and the Tigers beat #12 Cal State East Bay and seventh-ranked Puget Sound with their only loss coming to fifth-ranked La Verne. Centre College, Colorado College and Oglethorpe University did not nominate any this week.


WEEK 1

SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week
(For matches played from Friday, Aug. 29th through Sunday, Aug. 31st)

DELIA MERCER OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior middle hitter from Whitesboro, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 29 through Sunday, August 31.

Mercer led the Kangaroos to a 2-2 record at the Rhodes Invitational 
 
Mercer hit .455 to go along with averaging 3.13 kills per game and 1.07 blocks per game. 
 
She had had 47 kills while committing only seven hitting errors in 88 attempts for the ‘Roos. 
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle hitter Adrienne Cobb of DePauw led the Tigers to a 3-1 record at and a third place finish at the  Capital Invitational over the weekend, with the only loss coming against in five sets to Heidelberg. Cobb averaged 2.87 kills per game with a hitting percentage of .358
over the weekend and also averaged 1.33 digs per game. She tallied 45 kills while only committing four errors. Sophomore middle blocker Emily Perkins of Colorado College led the Tigers while averaging 2.82 kills per game and 1.76 digs per game, as the Colorado finished 3-1 at the Molten Volleyball Pikes Peak Challenge. Perkins earned a double-double by tallying 15 kills and 14 digs in a five set victory over the College of St. Catherine. Junior outside hitter
Audra Gentry of Southwestern
averaged 3.8 digs per game to lead the Pirates to a 3-1 week. The Albuquerque, N.M. native also notched 9 service aces and 6 blocks to go along with 49 kills in 15 games (3.27 avg.). Senior defensive specialist Megan Guest of Trinity helped the Tigers
as they went 2-2 over the weekend against four teams from outside of Division III. Guest paced the defense by averaging 6.1 digs per game and accounted for 15 of the team’s 30 service aces. Sophomore outside hitter Kate Hall of Millsaps tallied 26 kills, seven blocks, and five aces leading the Majors to a 3-1 record at the Rhodes Invitational.
First-year middle hitter Stephanie Woeste of
Centre averaged 2.33 kills per game, 1.27 blocks per game tallied four service aces and 10 digs in guiding the Colonels to 2-2 showing at the Elmhurst College Tournament. Oglethorpe, Rhodes and Sewanee did not nominate anyone for the award, and Hendrix did not play.
