Linebarger to lead Volleyball Majors in 2005

JACKSON, Miss. - Matthew J. Linebarger has joined Millsaps College and the Department of Athletics as head coach for the Majors women’s volleyball team, in an announcement made by Millsaps College Director of Athletics Ron Jurney, Friday. Linebarger will also serve as the head strength and conditioning coach for Majors seven women’s athletic teams. Complete Release

Neyhouse tabbed to head Centre volleyball program
DANVILLE, Ky.
- Centre College Director of Athletics and Recreation, Brian Chafin, has announced James Neyhouse will be the new head volleyball coach at Centre. Neyhouse had been the head coach at Wilmington College since 2001. Complete Release

SCAC has four named to AVCA All-America Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
In announcing its 24th annual Division III All-America team, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), recognized four SCAC student-athletes. Highlighting the selections, First-Team All-American Ashley Farrimond of Trinity (pictured left) became just the fifth player to earn the honor all four years. Kamri Young of Trinity was a Second Team selection and Centre's Sarah Burger and Trinity's Lauren Jackson were named Honorable Mention. (Complete Release)

Five from SCAC named to AVCA All-Region Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
In an announcement made today by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), five SCAC student-athletes were selected to the 2004 All-South Region team. Highlighting the selections, Trinity's Ashley Farrimond was selected for the fourth-consecutive year and Centre's Sarah Burger was named the South Region Freshman of the Year. (Complete Release)

Trinity, who had its season come to an end at the NCAA South Region semifinals last weekend, dropped from seventh to 11th in this week's CSTV/AVCA Division III Coaches Top 25 Poll. SCAC releases 2004 Women's Volleyball All-Conference Team

SUWANEE, Ga. -- Trinity University senior Ashley Farrimond was a near unanimous choice for 2004 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Player-of-the-Year in exclusive all-conference voting by the league's head coaches. In the same voting, Sarah Burger of Centre College was selected as the SCAC Freshman-of-the-Year – the second consecutive year that a Centre player has received the award. (Complete Release)

Trinity clinches SCAC title and NCAA bid

The Trinity volleyball team clinched at least a share of its 11th Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship with a 3-1 victory over DePauw University on Friday evening. (Complete Release)
Trinity (28-5, 15-0) won 30-27, 24-30, 30-14, and 30-18.  DePauw became the only team in the conference to win a game over Trinity this season, but could not pull off the upset.

Centre's Ballinger becomes SCAC all-time assists leader

DANVILLE, Ky. - Senior setter Leah Ballinger of Centre College collected 35 assists in the Colonels 3-0 win against Averett (Va.) University earlier this year, and in the process, became the all-time Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference leader in assists. Entering this weekend, Ballinger has 5,666 assists to top the SCAC's career list - surpassing Trinity's Desiree Pratt (1997-00) who finished her career with 5,433. (Complete release)

Lambert earns 100th career win
