leads eight SCAC players named to 2006 AVCA All-America Team
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Led by SCAC
Player-of-the-Year Sara Buros, the SCAC placed eight players on the American
Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Teams for NCAA Division III
women's volleyball. Trinity's Buros was the league's only First Team selection.

College was rewarded with three of the four major awards in exclusive

In 2006 NCAA
Division III Women's Volleyball Championship play on Saturday, Trinity University
advanced to the National Quarterfinals for the fourth time in program history
with a 3-1 victory over Emory University in the South Region finals. At the
Central Region final, Rhodes College saw its magical season come to an end at
the hands of second-ranked and host Washington (Mo.) University in three
straight games.

Lynx and Tigers play for
region championships on Saturday
In 2006 NCAA
Division III Women's Volleyball Championship play on Friday, Trinity University
defeated fellow SCAC foe, Southwestern University, and Austin College lost a
heartbreaker in five games to Emory University in the semifinals of the South
Region bracket. Meanwhile, Rhodes College won its second straight in the the Central Region
and will play Washington (Mo.) University in the region final on Saturday.

Austin
College and Southwestern both won in the South Region bracket and Rhodes College
was victorious in its Central Region match as the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference (SCAC) had a perfect 3-for-3 day in the first round of the 2006 NCAA
Division III Women's Volleyball Championships.

the historic selection of four teams to the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball
Tournament, the SCAC had a record 11 players named to the 2006 AVCA All-South Region

Ind. - When the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Committee announced the
field of 60 teams for the 2006 Division III Women's Volleyball Championship, a
record four SCAC schools were invited to participate. Trinity earned the
league's automatic bid and Austin College, Rhodes College and Southwestern
University all received at-large bids.

Oglethorpe plays host to
season-ending SCAC Cross
ATLANTA,
Ga. - Oglethorpe University plays host to the rest of the league at this
weekend's regular season-ending 2006 SCAC Cross Divisional No. 2 Volleyball
Tournament. Sixteen percent of the nation's Top 25 will be represented at the
tournament as four SCAC teams are ranked heading into the three-day event.
Trinity University is ranked seventh, followed by Southwestern University at
16th, Austin College at 17th and Rhodes College at 24th.

the first round of the TU River City Classic. The seventh-ranked Tigers defeated

Centre College and
Hendrix College play host to the rest of the league at this weekend's second
SCAC Eastern and Western Divisional Volleyball Tournaments. The Western

serves her way into record book

Jessica Varnell of Hendrix College served herself into the NCAA record books
during the Warriors' volleyball match against Rust (Miss.) College on Tuesday.
Varnell served up 18 service aces in the three-game sweep, a mark that places
her third on the all-time NCAA Division III “service aces in a three game match”
list.
