The SCAC was well represented when the 2006 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Men's Cross Country awards were passed out. Centre College head cross country coach Lisa Owens was named the region's Men's Coach of the Year and Alex Mahoney of Rhodes was selected as the region's Athlete of the Year. Boggs of Colorado College finishes third among all individuals

, Ohio - Rhodes College finished 21st and Centre College finished 28th at the 2006 Division III Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday at the Voice of America Park. Julian Boggs of Colorado College finished third among 279 individuals - the highest-ever finish for a SCAC individual in the national meet. Centre and Rhodes men qualify for NCAA Cross Country National Meet
Six SCAC individuals also qualify
The Centre College men won the South Regional cross country meet for the second consecutive year and the Rhodes College men finished second, qualifying both teams for the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country national meet next Saturday in Wilmington, Ohio. Two SCAC individuals won their respective regionals as Alex Mahoney of Rhodes took top honors at the South Regional and Julian Boggs of Colorado College won the West Regional meet. Alex Nichols and Kiran Moorty of Colorado College join their teammate Boggs as national qualifiers. Chad Bennett and Drew Wyant, both of DePauw University, and Jameson Otto of Southwestern University also qualified for the national meet by finishing in the top seven at their respective regional races. Centre prepares to host 2006 SCAC Cross Country Championships

In the third United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III poll of the 2006 season - ranking the top 35 men's and women's Division III cross country teams in the country - the DePauw University men are ranked 22nd, the Colorado College men are ranked 27th and the Centre College men are 33rd.
