SCAC Men's Cross Country
Runner-of-the-Week
(For meets run Friday, Oct. 12th and Saturday, Oct. 13th)

DUSTY KIME OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a senior from Cassville, Mo., has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13.

Kime
finished seventh at the Great Lakes Pre-Regional at Calvin College as the DePauw men finished fourth at the event.

Kime's time of 25:11 is just seven seconds off of his personal best.

Kime ran well with the lead pack of several all-Americans.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Ian Turner of Sewanee
won the Tiger Twilight Invitational with a personal best time of 27:26 for the 8k race. He led the entire race and pulled away from the lead pack with a mile to go to the finish. His top finish led a group of four other Sewanee runners in the top 11 to win the team competition. Senior Nate Blank of Centre had a breakout race this past weekend at the Wilmington Fall Classic. He ran a 25:52 on the challenging Wilmington course, leading the Centre men for the first time this season. Blank finished in eighth place out of 215 runners of all divisions, leading the Centre men's team to a third place finish out of 20 teams. Blank's effort was 30 seconds faster than his best time this season and was his third fastest 8K in his four year career. Senior Julian Boggs of Colorado College led the team for the third time this season with a first-place finish overall (out of 234 runners) at the Southwestern College Invitational in Winfield, Kansas. This is the highest individual finish ever by a CC male athlete at this meet. Boggs also finished with a season-best time of 25:45.97 for the 8K course leading the men’s team to a first-place overall team finish (out of 23 schools). The field was composed of mostly NAIA schools.


WEEK 6

SCAC Men's Cross Country

(For meets run Friday, Oct. 5th and Saturday, Oct. 6th)

CHASS ARMSTRONG OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Boerne, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6.

Armstrong ran a career best 25:50 at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational on Saturday and finished second overall behind former high school teammate and Division II standout David Fuentes who has several individual titles to his name this season.

Armstrong's
time places him third all-time on the Trinity best performances list behind a pair of national qualifiers. He was in a two-man battle for the win until the final mile.

Armstrong led the team to a first-place finish in the all Division I and II field, improving on the third-place team finish from this meet a year ago.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Jason Parks of Centre
led the Colonels to an 11th-place finish out of 42 teams (most of which were scholarship teams) this past weekend at the Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic. Parks placed 63rd out of 341 runners in the 8K race with a time of 26:11. Giving his best effort of the year, Parks was Centre's number one runner for the fourth consecutive race.


WEEK 5

SCAC Men's Cross Country
Runner-of-the-Week
(For meets run Friday, Sept. 28th and Saturday, Sept. 29th)

JULIAN BOGGS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior from Berea, Ky., has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29.

Boggs led the team for the second consecutive week - posting the highest individual finish every by a Colorado College male athlete at the Oklahoma State University Cowboy Jamboree.

Boggs finished seventh out of 221 runners with a season-best time of 25:48 for the 8K course and led the Colorado College men to a fourth place finish out of 21 schools.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Ian Turner of Sewanee
led the Tigers at the Rhodes Invitational with a 22nd-place finish and a 39 second PR. His time of 27:31 is his first time under 28:00, and is 1:11 faster than his best time from 2006. At the same time of year as a freshman on a flat course, Turner was running times in the 33:00 range.


WEEK 4

SCAC Men's Cross Country
Runner-of-the-Week
(For meets run Friday, Sept. 21st and Saturday, Sept. 22nd)

JULIAN BOGGS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior from Berea, Ky., has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22.

For the first time
this season, Boggs, an all-American in 2006, led the team at a meet.

Boggs finished with a time of 26:32 for the 5-mile course - a first-place finish among 56 runners and the fastest time ever by a Colorado college runner on this course.

Boggs led the men’s team to a first-place finish (out of six schools composed of mostly Division II and NAIA schools), and also beat his previous course record set in 2006 by 17 seconds.


WEEK 3

SCAC Men's Cross Country
Runner-of-the-Week
(For meets run Friday, Sept. 14th through Saturday, Sept. 15th)

ALEX NICHOLS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior from Minnetonka, Minn., has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 14 and Saturday, September 15.

For the second time in two races this season, Nichols placed first on the team - this weekend at the Colorado State Invitational.

Nichols finished with a time of 21:05.6 for the 4-mile course and was 13th overall in a field of 59 made up mostly Division I and Division II runners. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Enrique Sanchez of Oglethorpe ran a personal record of 28:01 at Panthersville in the Georgia State University Invitational. Sanchez finished 18th overall among the 172 runners - second among all Division III finishers.


WEEK 2

SCAC Men's Cross Country

(For meets run Friday, Sept. 7th through Saturday, Sept. 8th)

CHASS ARMSTRONG OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Boerne, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8.

Armstrong finished sixth overall with a new personal record of 26:54 at the Texas State Invitational.

Armstrong was the top D3 runner and helped Trinity to a fourth-place finish - which included defeating the only other D3 program at the meet, McMurry University.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Jason Parks of Centre finished third overall in the Centre College Invitational this past weekend with a time of 27:48 on a very hilly 8K course. His time was 1:12 seconds faster than his 2006 finish. Parks led the Centre men to a second-place finish, only five points behind NAIA-ranked Lindsey Wilson College. Sophomore Enrique Sanchez of Oglethorpe ran 21:43 for the very challenging 6K Atlanta course of Mercer University. He finished seventh among all collegiate runners, headed only by members of Kennesaw State's nationally-ranked team.


WEEK 1

SCAC Men's Cross Country

(For meets run Friday, Aug. 31st through Saturday, Sept. 1st)

NICK LEWIS OF RHODES COLLEGE, a senior from Gaylord, Mich., has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, August 31 and Saturday, September 1.

Lewis was the top Division III finisher (sixth overall) at the University of the South Invitational. Lewis ran 26:59 over the 8k course and helped pace the Rhodes men to a fourth place overall finish - second among Division III schools.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year runner Drew Kellum of Hendrix was the Warriors' top finisher at the Arkansas Tech Twilight Run. Kellum ran 20:46 for the 4-mile race, placing fourth overall in the field dominated by Division I schools. Kellum was the only non-Division I finisher in the top ten. Senior Alex Nichols of Colorado College ran a very smart race - completing his first race of the season in just under 27 minutes for an 8K (26:51 - 21st out of 68 competitors). In addition to leading the team, Nichols improved his placing over last year by one place.
